From the first Yamaha with that valve I had in 1989 a FZR 1000 Exup I never deleted this valve. Never seen the need for it, the engines run fine even with another exhaust. My current FZ1 Fazer is stock and stays that way.

@Jay_Speed As a result of this video, a viewer donated his nearly new cat & valve that was removed from his now sold MT10. I just need to swap it over as the light has now come back on again. I, too, wish to keep the bike stock

@@Banditmanuk When I bought my FZ1 it came with a Acrapovic, I did not like it, too loud. So I bought a second hand original with valve and cables from a breaker for 75 euro. Mounted it myself and it was not hard to do just being handy and have some experience. I was a mechanic for a lot of years, afterwards the bike ran better, quieter and it did not need a tuning even when the dealer told me it was needed. Now it still is as good as gold, these Yamaha engines are really good for years, when you drive normal.

The bikes a keeper even tho you tottle along at safe speeds. It’s always good to know you have the poke if you need it or just enjoy a blast now and again, within the speed limits of course. Only decide to change it if it has become uncomfortable when touring, due to older joints.
@Banditmanuk5 ай бұрын
@MrBeracah The majority of the time, I think I ride the bike with restraint. Being on KZbin, it would be foolish to publish riding it in any other way. At the moment, I'm right on the edge of long-distance comfort with an arthritis diagnosis in both knees. I wish Yamaha built a Tracer 10 with the CP4 engine. Until then, it's a keeper.

That's pretty good going for years and miles without issues. Perhaps if you need to, get a second hand one off a breaker's yard? I had the EML come on on my Kwak. Manual says O2 sensor, probably due to moisture (rain or a ford? Very unusual for me 😅). Had the dealership reset the light, no issues since 👍 (3-5k miles) Good luck 🤞

I'm glad it didn't cost too much to diagnose and resolve the issue as well as surprised to know the cost of a replacement. It seems the Healtech eliminator might be the best option going forwards unless someone comes up with one they've got lying around. The ZZR has gone and the BMW R1250R should be in my stable by the end of next week. I'm sad but excited as the Beemer seems like it's going to be a while lot of fun.
@Banditmanuk5 ай бұрын
I should say commiserations and congratulations. Very little is out there to match the sheer speed of a ZZR but I do think the BMW will offer better real world usability and practicality as well as plenty of low rev grunt. As for my Yam, it's a minor blip on a near perfect 8 years of reliability. It will take more than that to make me sell

Rich. I have left my EM light on for nearly 3k miles. It makes not a jot of difference to how the bikes goes. It came on when I put my MT10 on a paddock stand, put it in first gear and let it tick over in gear whilst I lubed the chain and on the light came. When it's next serviced, the dealer will reset it to off. I still fill my bike wherever possible, at home and make sure the fuel ends up just under where the underside of the cap just touches the fuel. Sure it takes a little time, but it's about another 2 - 3 litres. Give it a go. Nice vid again. Why would you change a bike as good as the MT10? Blimy Rich you're only 60. Stay with it, you know it makes sense.
@Banditmanuk5 ай бұрын
@RichardASK 😆😆 I'm certainly not the oldest MT10 owner. I'm also not seriously thinking of changing. I'm thinking a decade of ownership of the same bike would be a nice achievement. Even though it's thirsty, the overall cost of ownership/depreciation has been low. 10K new, still worth over 4K and a trouble free 8 years and 38,000 miles of riding. I've already (many years ago) done a video on squeezing that extra bit in the tank. I only do it occasionally now as I haven't got the patience in the filling station

@Banditmanuk5 ай бұрын
@exeterrider I recently saw a post on the MT10 Facebook group stating; "You shouldn't own an MT10 if you're not prepared to de-cat it." I love the CP4 engine sound, but on tour and longer runs, that noise can become an ear-drumming drone. Yep, most of these lights are connected to Euro introduced emissions. These bikes are still way more reliable than the old carburettor bikes of the 70s & 80s

I'm not a fan of loud exhausts, and they don't save lives! Bought a bike with an after marker can fitted but also came with the original. I liked it too start with, especially with short, sharp acceleration but after my first long trip that involved motorways it was replaced with the original immediately. What an annoying drone! The first couple of rides with the new exhaust was quite an eye opener as I was travelling so much faster in view of the lack of noise. It took a little while to adjust to normal speeds.
@Banditmanuk5 ай бұрын
Exactly. On my previous Versys 1000, I fitted an arrow end can. It drove me nuts on longer journeys and triggered the tinnitus caused my many years working in a noisy industrial environment. I honestly like the sound and noise level that comes stock on this Euro 4 machine. I think the new models are even quieter
