I see your evolution. You began with an interest in and focus on materials and craftsmanship. Some very interesting international stuff, growing into an economic analysis of the footwear industry. Sprinkles of fashion, which I admit I didn't always care much about, I'm in Colorado. But at the end, you rejected PNW as a lifestyle choice (I have too, just too heavy, though I admire their values and execution). And now you're fixing on what actually works for your environment and use.(And hey, you're in the suburbs now? Not the urban landscape of old?) You have a deepened understanding of what makes a boot work. I love that you made a boot, too. That's the journey, and it should begin with our feet, our /understanding/. I've learned a lot from you, man. Thanks.

James, this comment really made my night, wow. It's so interesting that a stranger can do such a good psychoanalysis of my fashion journey. I'm actually still in New York but was staying in New Jersey for a bit with these other shots. Sometimes I think about doing a video called 'my fashion philosophy' but it feels a bit self indulgent even for me, but you've got me thinking about it again! I try to be relatively open about being a city guy who likes durable materials, classic looks, and modern fits, so I try not to dwell too much on the "work appropriate" angle and more on the "this will last a long time and look cool" angle, which might sound superficial to working men but hey, I'm me.

Chelsea’s are a casual shoe/boot. But as a New Yorker no issue wearing a Chelsea with dark selvedge jeans, dress shirt, tie and jacket. I haven’t worn mine with a suit, but I haven’t had to wear a suit for business in 4 years

I'm from Murica and I think Chelseas can be worn with a suit, as long as they're the right style, like these Trentos.

They have a no-return policy. That’s a no-go. Soio is out. Not willing to buy from companies that don’t backup their products and won’t take them back. What if the quality is unacceptable.
@benvieira38952 жыл бұрын
Especially when they don't offer half sizes. Sure you can exchange for a different size but I don't want to commit this much money to something with the risk that I won't ever get a true fit as someone who usually is a half size.
@Stridewise2 жыл бұрын
Hmm the site says they accept returns and exchanges within 14 days? www.koio.co/pages/returns-and-exchanges
@az66242 жыл бұрын
If you look up the exact Chelsea boot referenced in the video and under the product page this item specifically has a no-return policy unfortunately. Perhaps that’s justifiable if they carried half sizes Even a custom pair of crown Northampton’s I ordered all the way from England which took 3 months to make allow for returns
@albertoclonado2 жыл бұрын
That’s because the boots are on sale, it’s not unusual to see this. And they say that after Christmas, the usual return policy applies

Never pulled the trigger I have dress boots but Chelsea looks off to me too dressy for jeans and not dressy enough for suit or dressier occasions IMO They look good just I don’t know why The black coat w the dark jeans looks really good thanks for the outfit ideas

I have the Koio Capri, but I think the toe is too round in the Trento boot. I have 4 pairs of Magnanni Chelseas and I have worn my black leather pair with a suit. Women really like them.

For half sizers, do we size up on these or down ? Im a 12 but my chelseas some are a 11.5 some are 12.

They definitely work a casual suit w/ soft shoulders, sans tie or odd jacket and trousers with or w/o tie (depending on the tie perhaps a textured solid tie, nothing eye catching). Definitely not with a structured suit.

@@Stridewise figured, but not sure that’s cool… their 20% discount doesn’t imply everyone has seen your video… if I didn’t see your video I’d have gotten 20% anyway in other words, so there was no benefit for those of us who do and the point is there was supposed to be, know what I mean? I think Koio is this case is on the wrong side of the fence here…

The whole "can we wear chelsea boots with a suit" is silly. Isn't it? I will be wearing my Chelsea boots with my new made to measure Daniel George suit to my daughter's wedding in July. No one will care. I guarantee that I, the father of the bride, will be the best dressed person in the room (except the bride) and no one will care but me. I'm good with that, always. I wish that I could try on the Trento's. I have totally blown through my budget with 2 new Chelsea boot pairs being made for me. The wait is killing me and I am worried about sizing.

💯Absolutely agree with your point about wearing the Chelsea with a suit! I'm happy you hit on this point because a lot of people don't seem to know how crazy versatile the Chelsea boot is. Gave me some huge outfit inspiration!

RM. Williams will always be my favorite. But for the price these ones were quite beautiful. I'd still say the Cavalier is the one Chelsea boot where you get the most bang for your buck. These are good, but not better than RM. Williams and also not better than Thursdays compared to the price in my opinion

I’m personally a Koio fan, but this whole videos reads pretty transparently as an ad and I can’t help but wish you disclosed the full extent of your arrangement with them. Your channel tends to be pretty straight forward, but this one feels sus. Pretty clearly scripted, pretty clearly hitting all of their talking points, and pretty clearly lacking objectivity.
