- Use only high-quality cables to charge your phone, and don’t charge over the max. An extra 15 minutes of work won’t make up for the loss if your phone starts to overheat.
- Try lowering the brightness of your phone’s screen. It’ll not only prevent overheating, but will also be a good way to preserve your battery’s life.
- If you can open up the backside of your phone, you can clean out the dust that typically collects there. On a scale this small, all dust will work like feathers in a puffy jacket - locking all the heat inside and preventing the phone from cooling down.

Thanks. Such an informative video. I didn't understand why my phone heated up a lot today when I went to the store. I never had a problem with heating before though it is kept in a cloth case with open corners. But I just happen to remember that I turned the brightness level up to 100% yesterday when I was taking photos of my rental property from outside. I couldn't see what was on the screen when it was lower outside and usually keep the brightness level around 55% indoors. So I adjusted the brightness level to around 55% and the screen is comfortable to look at then. I will really be watching this since you also mention it in your video. Puts my mind at ease.

If a phone heats up it's going to depend on the CPU if it's a single-core in the room and the graphics card the more heats up the more the phone will get but if it has a dual CPU or a more CPUs that will help keep the phone cool without making the phone work to its hardest and limits before it starts to melt By the way the newer phone stop charging when they're fully charged

Also try factory reset to remove rogue apps that might be buggy. Try the phone with only native apps and see if it still overheats. If it doesn't then reinstall apps one by one to find the bad actor. If it does still overheat then the battery is probably at end of life.

Batteries do heat up while charging. However, they don't get overcharged. There's a little chip that makes sure the battery is charged properly. When recharging, let the battery cool down first. If the battery is hot, it has a higher resistance. Charging it while the resistance is higher will produce more heat, which increases the resistance, which produces more heat. If the phone is not warm to the touch, you can charge it without issue.

I am currently working in Saudi Arabia where in 50 degrees celsius is a normal thing during summer and this is one of my daily problems. When my phone heats up, it makes the signal weak and drains the battery fast. What i did was wiping my phone with a wet hand towel when it gets too hot. Another was i wrapped my phone with a hand towel with a decent amount of cold water. Hope this helps. Cheers!

My phone was powered by Mediatek. Usually 60-70°C is normal for my phone processor but battery around 30°C-35°C if normal usage. If play games, processor can heat up slightly higher up to 80°C while battery can get really hot up to 40°C. Qualcomm is slightly cooler but not SD810 (this one hotter than Mediatek ones and all latest/previous Qualcomm device).

I use the refrigerator for that. That works good too and it doesnt damage your phone like a freezer does

Semiconductors and intricate electronics like processors do not like excessive cold because it can actually affect how they perform. This is sometimes very evident. Some cameras can shut down if cold, and only turn on when warm. The battery also loses some capacity temporarily. Batteries perform better when warm, but this also produces heat and can seriously overheat the battery.
