She could have been so much more. She had this whole hyuga family friction going on but she is blind to it. And in the war arc when she was more concerned about holding naruto's hand than neji's death, whatever abysmal respect I had for her was lost.

NaruSaku would've been a sight to see. Finally Naruto could've admitted his feelings and been honestly passionate and sincere towards the girl he loved. While Sakura got over Sasuke gradually thru realization and growing up to differentiate demeaning obsession and actual love. Those untapped feelings for Naruto would've been realized and in the end.....Naruto becomes a man who confronts her and melts her heart. NaruSaku was vibrant and healthy. Dynamic and they shared chemistry. They had the perfect set up. Parallels and the legacies of those behind them that failed or ended in tragedy. Hinata is just bland and soulless in canon, but in fanfics that pair her with Sasuke or Neji... she's pretty good. Sasuke is her antithesis but they share certain qualities and are different in other ways. Sasuke forces Hinata out of her comfort zone and to express something... she's too reserved and dispassionate. They work best in a classic clan cross marriage. Something to bind the Uchiha and Hyuga through blood and treaties. This pairing is a gift for political drama and marriage. Or have her marry a Neji who didn't die needlessly for her. Neji was the leader and prodigy the main clan wanted. So, I could see him marrying Hinata to gain the title and the role with Hiashi's explicit consent and backing, as a way to create a small ripple in the noble clan. Neji protected, cared for and loved Hinata. This could work and she'd serve as a loving spouse helping her clan see a better future. One full of dedication. NaruHina only works....if you see it for what it is...a political marriage. Hinata sold off to the highest bidder to secure a lucrative spot and bloodline for the Hyuga. Maybe the noble clan could help give Naruto some clout, but ultimately... Hiashi had to agree to let Hinata marry. Naruto's and Hinata's marriage is lacking passion and honesty cause it's a business arrangement and for convenience. That's the most non Naruto like shit I've ever seen. He has no interest in his Stepford wife and the Narrative barely let's him see Sakura. I wouldn't be surprised if he were depressed and a bit jaded. He can't be himself around his wife. Naruto wanted acknowledgement but he got it from the wrong female. He loved Sakura and was alive around her, but he didn't fight for her heart. He could've had it yet settled for a girl whose obsessed with him and then realized once the honeymoon is over... they're incompatible and don't work. Naruto needed to follow his heart and intuition. Instead he pragmatically settled for Hinata. But since the Naruto-verse is old fashioned and doesn't allow characters to be realistic... he's stuck with her.

These are basically my complaints with Hinata and NaruHina as well. Hinata is too insubstantial to even feel like a real character. She's like a souless doll who exists as wish-fullfillment. She never voices her opinion or disagrees with anyone, she's just a subservient homebody who apparently does absolutely nothing except cook and clean all day. She doesn't even have a social life, seeing as how she never hangs out with her old teammates and she almost never hangs out with the other Konoha moms either. Her husband walks all over her and ignores his family obligations and responsibilities, and Hinata is a good little wife who never confronts Naruto or challenges him to do better. Man, what I wouldn't give to see Hinata confront Naruto by lovingly urging and advising him that he needs to take his role as a father more seriously and be there for his kids instead of always siding with her precious Naruto-kun by defending his parental negligence as, "he's too busy". Even Sasuke has more impact and a better and more influential relationship with Sarada than Hinata does with Boruto - it's really sad how uninvolved Hinata is in her children's lives and how little impact she has on them. Aside from Karui, Hinata is the only Konoha 12 parent who hasn't been shown training her kid. I'm half-convinced that the Boruto writers just hate Hinata or something because they refuse to let Hinata do anything of any meaning, even though she has so much storytelling potential and could be so influential. It would've been cool to see Hinata undergo a character arc kind of like Shiemi from Blue Exorcist, progressively learning to overcome her shyness and self-confidence issues. Anyway, nice video. 👍

Her entire character was fan service in Shippuden and even in part one when she danced naked under a waterfall. The writers wanted to live vicariously through Naruto; neglecting his own personality and feelings. Hinata was raised to this height that completely overshadowed team 7's bond and stole moments from both NaruSaku and NaruSasu. The ending was just writers and studio pierrot playing out their Hinata fetish. Now her purpose is done.... she's a stereotypical Japanese housewife. She should've grown out of her crush and learned to stand on her own two feet. The wedding made no sense for Naruto, but it made perfect sense for Hinata since she had nothing else going for her. Naruto should've just become Hokage and reminisced about everyone.

The main reason why NaruHina doesn't work is not even at character level. Naruto is a story, nobody really feels or experiences anything. This is a literary work where the information is conveyed by a narrator. And what is not conveyed by the narrator is not there either. The information that is there therefore all has the same value, precisely because nobody really experiences or feels anything. That's why in such a story, from this narrative perspective, character development is so important, or especially here couple development. But you don't have that with NaruHina, you are dependent on a Movie after 15 years and 700 chapters. This is such bad storytelling that you can assume that it was a last minute decision, no matter what was said later in any interviews. Especially when you consider that it's a shounen manga. In a shounen manga you had to insert a Movie in between, not to assert the love interests of the male part, but those of the female part, normally it would be the other way around. Although Hinata fans don't like to hear it, she isn't a main character. She's not Sasuke, not Sakura, not Kakashi, not even a Sai, and she's definitely not Naruto. Even among the supporting characters, there are characters who have interacted with Naruto more than Hinata. Shikamaru and Lee are also supporting characters but have had more to do with Naruto, even among these characters she is not at the top. So you end up with a pairing where the male part had to bend in order for the female part to fulfill their dream, and that's in a shounen manga. But at the same time, even worse, you have a protagonist who has to bend in order for a supporting character, who isn't even the most important supporting character, to fulfill their character arc. And yes, it's true that Hinata's character isn't much left without NaruHina. But like I said, she's just a supporting character, and not even the most important one, even if most Hinata fans don't like to hear that at all. Karin fared no differently, or rather she fared as Hinata would have fared without NaruHina. Karin was as fixated on Sasuke as Hinata was on Naruto, even more so than Sakura and even more so than Ino. Besides Sasuke, Sakura also had the dream of becoming just as good a medicine ninja as Tsunade, in order to support Naruto with these skills, among other things. Ino was already in love with Sasuke and Sai. For Karin, however, there was only Sasuke, the complete drive of her character is only Sasuke or SasuKarin until 699. Still, SasuSaku has gone canon, and not much remains of Karin's character. The only reason for few complain is that Karin isn't nearly as popular as Hinata. Karin was more important to the story than she was, due to her close association with Sasuke, as a supporting character she was more deeply involved in the story than Hinata. Which is also the reason why NaruHina became canon in the first place. There were times before 699,700 when Hinata was more popular than some main characters, and certainly more popular than almost all other supporting characters, even if their roles in the story were sometimes significantly more important than Hinata's. The only supporting character who was consistently more popular than Hinata was Itachi. It gets even more extreme when you look at the female characters in general, where Hinata has always been the undisputed leader by a wide margin. Despite that Sakura was a main character, and characters like Tsunade, Karin, and Konan had far more important roles than her. Many people prefer to pair their favorite male and female characters together, whether it makes sense in the story or not. In the Naruto manga it was for most of them Naruto as the protagonist and Hinata, which is especially important for her, Hinata is either paired with Naruto or not at all. As I said, the same would have applied to Karin the other way around. Karin would either have been set up with Sasuke or not at all, precisely because her character was built around nothing other than Sasuke. As I said, the only reason why hardly anyone complained in Karin's case was that Karin wasn't nearly as popular as Hinata. If the same thing had been done with Hinata's character, it would have been the shitstorm of the century. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Karin fanboy, but I'm not a Hinata hater either. I think both characters are ok, although neither of them are definitely my favorite characters. It was ok that Karin didn't get together with Sasuke, she's just a supporting character. But the same should have applied to Hinata as well. It should have been ok if Hinata hadn't gotten together with Naruto because she's just a side character too. Naruto (the story) ended up being a victim of its own popularity, especially the popularity of certain characters. NaruHina has become canon specifically due to Hinata's popularity, as popular pairings generate more money than unpopular ones. Especially if you suddenly want to do a Part 3 after all. The children from popular pairings generate even more money than potential children from unpopular pairings. In the end it was a very sad development, I don't think it's right for a story to stop following its own character just because you can generate more attention and sales through others. Because as I said, everything was planned in the end, so definitely not. Had that been planned, you wouldn't end up with a male protagonist having to bow to the love interests of a supporting female character in a shounen manga. A manga where, after 15 years and 700 chapters, you even need a movie to even make it. A movie that also relies on something like Kaguya. You don't need Kaguya for Naruto, you need Kaguya primarily for The Last. The Last is needed for NaruHina and that in turn for Boruto. A lot was sacrificed in Naruto for this pairing.

If you watch dragon quest: dai no daibouken there's a similar love triangle but it didn't end with the equivalent to naruhina which means likely kishimoto didn't intend for naruhina he likely thought fans would prefer him to end it with naruhina (the male anime staff preferred hinata too). Chichi and sakura both make important promises to naruto/goku and both wear Chinese dresses. If you read some of the interviews he does he seems to prefer sakura over hinata at least for a time

I once did meme of this, but I have TONS of NaruHina desperately *coping SasuNaru/NaruSasu bond* examples(dozen in THE LAST *PIERROT FORCED MOVIE, that Kishimoto did not even WANTED* ONLY). Like 10 for example: 1. Hinata shielding Naruto, like Sasuke from Haku. 2 Naruto awoking Kyuubi for Hinata, seeing her 'almost dying'. 3. Naruto tellling Toneri to 'not talk of Hinata that way/not let him take Hinata' - just like Naruto told Orochimaru about *not talking about Sasuke like he was his in front of Naruto* . 🙄 4. Hinata and Naruto as kids movie - obvious rip off from Sasuke and Naruto being little, facing each other 5. Hinata/Naruto moonlight scene is rip off of Sasuke and Naruto looking each other deeply in the eyes in the Valley of the End, when chidori clashed with rasengan, with all feelings and affection bare in their eyes. 🤔 6. Neji LEAVING HINATA IN NARUTO'S CARE - *I leave Sasuke to You* Itachi and Naruto talking about Naruto saving Sasuke 7. Naruto running through Toneri's place, looking for Hinata - I have perfect rip off screen from Naruto running through Orochimaru hideout, minutes before facing Sasuke. 8. I dont have any problem with her , because we never saw what she is like entirely , but we saw naruto and sakura entirely , they r so happy together , it would have been nice if shippuden ended with shikamaru dating temari , sai single , choji single , kiba has a gf , shino single , and team 7 had a mission together , all others r all now jonins so they had their own mission beinb sent on , kakshi hokage period , and naruto proposes sakura , sakura accepts , they date then marry without much fuss like they made in naruhina wedding , then they live , and continue like that , slowly shikamaru and temari also marry , remaining r single , ad sasuke is still on his redemption , i hated how they matched couples because they needed to make boruto show . I hated it it made no sense . And then just like how minato one day came and told kushina he was given orders to become hokage now and kushina higged him , i wish the same happened with narusaku and them living together and at slowly age 28 or 29 she becomes pregnant and gives birth to a baby girl , and then a boy or may be twins . They couldve felt it real , rather than pairing up random people and making them have kids , so all those kids r gonna attend academy at same age , its nonsense . Like how come all their kids r same age ? Its so unreal . And females gave birth very early 21 or 20 . They should have kept it real , and no boruto shit . Everyone ranting about how she should have characterization "outside of Naruto" 1. She and her team didn't have even have an arc to themselves. Even team 10 had one and Ino and Choji did absolute jackshit in that arc. 2. Apart from that there are flashbacks with Neji in training but that's just it. What I'm getting at is that Hinata barely had any screentime and the writer just wanted to focus on team 7 in Shippudden.
