My Nashville is shimed as well. Never hurt a thing, only improved playability.

It's really fascinating to me how information like this can spread on the internet and lots of myths can be formed by a few forum or comment posts. It simply works and I don't get why people are so against them.

@@AudiomoMusic i don't get it either Jim. I was taught to shim a bolt on neck back in 1974. All y'all needed was a empty match book cover folded once place the thicker part to the back and hand tighten the bolts.

I shimmed all my necks and then took all the shims out!! some of those guitars greatly benefited from shims!!!!!

Leo Fender, by design, made his guitars so that they can be shimmed. Nuff said!

I did it on a Harley Stat, made the entire lead playing aspect so, so much better higher up the fret board.
