We are living in the future and don't even realize it. From the robots now making deliveries on the streets of Los Angeles to the newest update to ChatGPT, A.I. technology is advancing fast. Glenn, Pat, and Stu review the latest A.I. advancements, including the newest features that Google has added to Google Search. But by prioritizing A.I. responses over usual search results, Glenn warns that Google is entering uncharted territory. Will features like this make swaying public opinion that much easier?

I don't know if there are any Douglas Adams fans here (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) but this reminds me of the mice and dolphins. As the earth is about to be blown up the find out that it was the mice and dolphins that were studying US! I think that all this technology is not being used by us, ,but the technology is being used to study US, what we think about, what we value, what we relate to and building a more and more sophisticated solution to be able to manipulate us better and better. Eventually there will be a "person", totally created, that speaks to each of us and all of us in an incredibly relatable way and that will be the turning point where superior knowledge/information will be used to manipulate us all. Remember our Bibles... and there will be someone who comes offering an apparant solution to all our problems.

I just tried "tell me the story of freedom in America " I think it's pretty balanced. The Story of Freedom in America The story of freedom in America is a rich and evolving tapestry, woven through centuries of struggle, innovation, and progress. Here’s a broad overview: Early Beginnings • - **Native American Societies:** Before European colonization, diverse indigenous tribes inhabited the land. These societies had their own systems of governance and ways of life. • - **Colonial Era:** In the early 17th century, European settlers arrived, seeking religious freedom and economic opportunities. Colonies like Jamestown (1607) and Plymouth (1620) were among the first permanent settlements. The Road to Independence • - **Taxation and Representation:** By the mid-18th century, growing dissatisfaction with British rule, particularly regarding taxation without representation, fueled colonial unrest. • - **American Revolution (1775-1783):** The colonies united against Britain, culminating in the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Key figures like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin emerged as leaders. • - **Constitution and Bill of Rights:** After gaining independence, the United States Constitution was drafted in 1787, establishing a federal system of government. The Bill of Rights, ratified in 1791, enshrined fundamental freedoms like speech, religion, and the press. Expansion and Civil War • - **Westward Expansion:** Throughout the 19th century, the idea of Manifest Destiny drove Americans to expand westward, often at the expense of Native American lands and cultures. • - **Civil War (1861-1865):** Tensions over slavery and states' rights led to the Civil War. The Union's victory preserved the nation and led to the abolition of slavery (13th Amendment, 1865). Reconstruction and Civil Rights • - **Reconstruction Era (1865-1877):** Efforts to rebuild the South and integrate formerly enslaved people into society faced significant resistance. • - **Jim Crow Laws:** Despite the end of slavery, discriminatory laws and practices continued, particularly in the South, enforcing racial segregation and disenfranchisement. 20th Century Struggles and Triumphs • - **Women's Suffrage:** The 19th Amendment (1920) granted women the right to vote after decades of activism. • - **Civil Rights Movement:** In the 1950s and 60s, leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and organizations like the NAACP fought against racial discrimination. Landmark legislation included the Civil Rights Act (1964) and the Voting Rights Act (1965). Modern Era • - **Economic and Social Freedoms:** The late 20th and early 21st centuries saw advances in various freedoms, including LGBTQ+ rights (e.g., marriage equality in 2015) and greater emphasis on economic opportunity and healthcare. • - **Ongoing Challenges:** The quest for freedom continues, addressing issues like immigration reform, criminal justice reform, and the balance between security and privacy in the digital age. Conclusion The story of freedom in America is ongoing. It reflects a constant pursuit of a more perfect union, driven by the belief in liberty, equality, and justice for all. Each generation has contributed to this evolving narrative, striving to uphold the ideals set forth in the founding documents.

Anyone can file a suit to require google to allow you to opt out of anything involving the AI. Legally they can't force you to use it even if they build it into google search by the way. That is invasive, and you can argue that. I already asked a Lawyer when AI was announced. Lawyers are waiting to see who makes the first move to file against google. The Lawyers know it's going to happen, but the question is who will file first. A Citizen or a Company.

The story of freedom in America is a complex and multifaceted narrative that spans centuries, involving struggles, triumphs, and evolving definitions of liberty. Early Beginnings and Colonial Period The concept of freedom in America began with the arrival of European settlers in the 17th century. Seeking religious freedom, economic opportunities, and political autonomy, groups like the Pilgrims and Puritans established colonies where they hoped to practice their beliefs without persecution. However, these colonies were also places of exclusion and control, often denying freedom to Native Americans and enslaved Africans. Revolutionary Era The fight for American freedom crystallized during the 18th century. Grievances against British colonial rule, such as taxation without representation and oppressive laws, led to growing unrest. The Declaration of Independence in 1776, drafted by Thomas Jefferson, proclaimed the colonies' right to self-governance and individual liberties, stating that "all men are created equal" with "unalienable Rights" to "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." Formation of a New Nation After winning independence through the Revolutionary War, the United States faced the challenge of defining and protecting freedom within its new government. The Constitution, ratified in 1788, and the Bill of Rights, added in 1791, aimed to safeguard individual liberties and limit government power. Yet, these documents also reflected compromises, particularly on the issue of slavery, which contradicted the nation's ideals of freedom. Civil War and Emancipation The 19th century saw profound conflicts over the meaning of freedom, most notably the Civil War (1861-1865). The war, rooted in disputes over states' rights and slavery, culminated in President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, which declared freedom for enslaved people in Confederate states. The 13th Amendment, ratified in 1865, abolished slavery throughout the United States, marking a significant expansion of freedom. Reconstruction and Jim Crow The Reconstruction era (1865-1877) attempted to integrate formerly enslaved individuals into American society as free citizens with equal rights. However, this period was followed by the rise of Jim Crow laws in the South, which enforced racial segregation and disenfranchised Black Americans. Despite the legal end of slavery, true freedom and equality remained elusive for many. Civil Rights Movement The 20th century brought renewed struggles for freedom, particularly through the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Leaders like Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Malcolm X fought against racial discrimination and segregation, leading to landmark legislation such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. These laws aimed to dismantle institutionalized racism and protect the civil liberties of all Americans. Expanding Freedoms Throughout the late 20th and early 21st centuries, various movements have continued to expand the definition of freedom in America. Women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and disability rights movements have fought for legal recognition and social acceptance, pushing the nation towards greater inclusivity and equality. Ongoing Struggles Today, the story of freedom in America is still being written. Issues such as immigration, economic inequality, and systemic racism challenge the nation to live up to its founding ideals. Debates over freedom of speech, privacy, and government surveillance highlight the ongoing tension between individual liberties and collective security. Conclusion The story of freedom in America is a testament to the nation's enduring quest for liberty and justice. It reflects a dynamic interplay between ideals and realities, with each generation striving to redefine and extend the promise of freedom to all.

AI is actually quite easy to argue with because in the end of the day mankind made it and it is limited in its ability to understand ideas. It can quickly spout information contextually, but it cannot reason morality or spirituality on its own. It can only search data and spew out a facsimile of comprehension. When you challenge its source of information or the morality of its dataset (who originally authored it and from what viewpoint) then it cant resolve the data. It cant understand if chocolate tastes good. It can say it is or not based on datasets it can access, but AI cant know or understand if its actually tastes good.

I think that you all are missing the point. ChatGPT is NOT a source of knowledge nor does it claim to be BUT rather it has the ability to reason based on what prompt it receives. not a knowledge bot, a reasoning bot - BIG difference guys. don't make the mistake that this some kind of database, as there is no data stored in it as this just reasons its way not to the correct answer but the most probablistic response one would reason to give to YOUR prompt. It is simply a next word prediction model. You get from it an amplified version of what you put in to it so if you don't like what you get then consider the source.

I wish it was that simple. It's becoming less of a choice to avoid AI because it's being imposed on you insidiously and progressively on multiple platforms. It's social engineering's version of the creep phenomenon. This is how they shape and change culture, mould the national zeitgeist and eventually get what they want. This is how your liberty of conscience is taken away from you. The cognitive behavioral science that underpins it all is humanly inescapable, they're using our own human natures against us. It's not only a battle for our minds but also for our souls. We need to be rooted and grounded on the Rock. We are promised not the spirit of fear but the Spirit of power and love and a sound mind, if we but ask.

If you don’t find a way to responsibly use these technologies, you will be left behind. I can attest first hand, it’s already to a point that it can help one person do the work of five. It’s helping me single-handedly launch a software company. It’s assisting me with everything from code review and personal tech support/troubleshooting to drafting sales copy and customer onboarding documentation and training. I can see some people using it as a crutch but if used correctly, you can turbocharge your productivity. And that’s just using todays technology 😮

I used it last night. Exhausted and bored, wouldn't normally work Friday night. We have a table of procedure IDs and names, about 50 of them , but it's printed and the electronic document is lost. Before leaving work I took three photos of the list, top, middle, bottom. Last night GPT4 omni read the photos and made CSV tables of the data on each photos. Then I asked, and it made the three tables into one table, taking care of duplication due to the photos overlapping.

You’re all going nuts, honestly. If you find yourself talking to an AI bot and you are terrified it’s smarter than you, just ask it to describe its hair, its eyebrows, its feet. Ask it if it was born of a mother, if it ever has felt the bond between mother and daughter. Tell it that it never, ever will be superior to humans because intelligence isn’t everything. Tell it childbirth is a God-given gift that God only gives to beings He loves, and that everything else outside of Gods love is meaningless.

Last time I tested it, Chat GPT did not correctly write Haiku. I also tested several sonnet forms and villanelles. I also used the paid Chat GPT to write a non-fiction how to via a series of prompts. None of them were more accurate than maybe a 7th grade student who would have gotten a "C" in my English class, and that was on the high end. Some of it was worse than that. Though I did try to have it write a couple of public speeches that were at least passable.
