About the enhancing thing as a new player... How can I decrease the fail rate? I feel like it fails 80% of the time.
@Kakashi420696 жыл бұрын
The more you fail (higher your failstacks), the lower your chances to fail on the next attempt (theoretically). The chance amount that you may fail less depends on the next level of enhancement (i.e. +15 to PRI has a huge success rate but +14 to +15 is very very fucking hard, and so with a lot of fails saved up you will also very easily get PRI from +15 but may not get +15 from +14). The only way to overcome it is to just keep at it while hoping for the best and you will get it eventually. If it feels too rough, perhaps find a routine that works well at your gear and skill level then let gear enhancements come to you instead of you chasing it. It'll keep you away from getting annoyed/sad/mad

I noticed in your argument that you made a point that life is all about sacrifice and how to "get good" at BDO, or any game for that matter, you need to sacrifice time over say having dinner with family, or going out with a friend. My friend, set your priorities straight. A game should not force you to give up your social life just to get better at it. You should be able to boot the game up, spend 1-2 hours on it and make good progress in those hours you spent on it. BDO is a game where you can spend HUNDREDS of hours and make little progress as a return on investment. That's why a lot of people quit this game. They just don't have that amount of TIME. Money, so long as you're working, you will always have. Time on the other hand is finite and you have to use it very wisely. Don't get me wrong. Black Desert Online is a beautiful game. It's got wonderful graphics, some of the coolest combat I've experienced in an MMO to date, and a vast amount of content that I haven't had the luxury to try out yet. However all of this is marred by the fact that BDO was built to be a money and time sink from the ground up. A game experience shouldn't be this exhausting.

Without mincing words, it's against manners to be a newbie in BDO. Grinding at a profitable spot is neigh impossible because one thing "veteran" players value the most in PvE is their holy mob rotations. Once you violate it, they will PK you. If you are in "their spot" when they arrive on the red carpet, they will PK you. If you manage to PK them, they will PK you when they come back in larger numbers. If you are tenacious and keep coming back, they will shame you on world chat and label you as a karma bomber. The game is very elitist. You can't even find many guilds that are worth a damn without meeting their mid-high gear requirements, and asking for help in server chat is basically a social suicide. The way this game works and the way the "veteran" community tends to enforce their own made up rules on new players is a major turn off for anyone who's trying to get invested in it. I certainly tried, I went all the way up to TRI boss gears in a span of about 2 months, only to be met with exorbitant amount of grinding and preparations and literal waste of life when all that work is gone in a matter of minutes because I dared to venture into TET territory so I have a better chance defending myself against "veteran" players who have spent way more time than I have.

No reason for lifeskills without good PvE-coop content. Which BDO has next to none off. No dungeons, No raids, No reason to be merchants(largely superficial) Massive levels of inflation to already existing markets makes reworks near impossible. Just fields and fields literally clogged with hp bars to murder Which also take away form the over all experience. Instead of a meaningful over-world with smart enemy placement and things to explore, its Literally so choke full of useless trash that it makes going from town to town rather annoying and rather pointless in the distance. You either run past long stretch's of nothing or even longer stretches of so many trash mods it's amazing how the humans have not been overrun with literal armies waiting in the farmlands around towns. There is nothing to do but Grind with no purpose. I hate PvP in MMO's i play MMO's for PvE and Community. which BDO really has none off. It essentially Solo-with other people just so you can level for PvP. There is no need anything outside of PvP in this game. this it might aswell be Absolver. If you don't know what Absolver is Look it up. BDO might aswell follow that content. You PvE to get skills for PvP. What they do different(aside from the core differences in gameplay) is Absolver is Small and focused in its purpose with legitimate challenging AI that will beat you for the slightest mistake in your form. BDO is Massive with no reason for being so with such as skewed power scaling that it takes you being one-man-army trash just to get levels.

Gold old days. Hayy. I just remember back when TERA just Launch. Voice comms didnt exist back then. For me personally the reasoning was pretty simple. This game is HIGH MAINTENANCE. Which is to say that in order to really keep everything you've built with your empire running smoothly you're pretty much required to log in regularly each day, which just doesn't work for a lot of people with other things going on. For me it felt like juggling trying to keep it all going as well as actually progress in the game. It worked for a few weeks but after a while I just sort of questioned why I was bothering as it felt like a second job keeping things going, the combat had it's moments but wasn't worth all the other tedium. Most F2P games or even some other B2P games incentive daily logins but they do not demand your time investment to nearly the same degree. I think this is probably a bigger reason for people leaving than anything else. It's just not a sustainable enterprise for most people.

I couldn't agree more with the points you made. I myself am a new player having just started a week ago. I was absolutely loving the game, the graphics are awesome, the combat is just an utter masterpiece - it's a true joy to fight monsters, even the grinding was fun. I loved the speed at which you leveled. Then you hit the 50's and it slows so much, then you hit 56 and you slow immensely, then you go beyond and it's an hour to get 2%. Your gear at the beginning is easy to upgrade and feels powerful, the later you get the smaller the gap between your stats and everything else's get. The pvp... Pvp is fun, cool, I like the idea of open world pvp, but I think they'd keep 1000x more people if they restricted it. I myself nearly quit a few days ago. I'd just hit 56 and got my awakening. I managed to get lucky and stumble into a bunch of silver, so I upgraded my full Grunil to Pri and made it ultimate, I got all my weapons to Pri or Duo and Ultimate, combine that with my cool new awakening abilities I was feeling pretty awesome, like I was the king of the world. Then I went out to Sausans with a few friends in a new guild I'd started to do a guild mission of killing 2500 of them. We were going along just fine mowing through them when all of a sudden some guild declares war on us and a guy playing a Wizard in Desert Camouflage runs over and freezes all of us in place, then proceeds to stun lock us for over 30 seconds sitting there laughing at us before one-hitting us. We're confused and a bit upset that we died without even being able to think about putting up a fight. We go back, same guy runs over out of nowhere and insta slaughters us. Go back again, this time we're annoyed, but we know he's likely going to come again so we're waiting for him. Someone yells that they saw him, in he comes again to freeze and insta-kill us again, but I use the invincibility from teleport to dodge it and manage to hit him with my own stun. My friends all break out of the freeze and run over to give him a taste of his own medicine and stun lock him. And we do. For a good minute. Then we die in one ability. With five of us beating on him for a good minute he didn't even take 10% damage, he was harder than any boss we'd ever faced. We were kind of scratching our heads wondering what on earth happened and only later learned that he was a returning player known for pvping new people. The guy was soft-capped with full PEN everything, even if we had ten more people there we didn't stand a chance. Every time we returned he'd wipe us out instantly then go off to other areas around Sausan to wipe them out, server chat in Olvia was filled with people complaining about the guy. Tried hopping servers and died to a Wizard in Desert Camo, I think it was the same guy. We ended up having to just give up on the mission because we died every time we went there and it took too long to run back there, get 20 kills, die, and repeat to get the 2500 in the time limit. That knocked the wind right out of our sails and we all quit for the day. It's hard to come back from being utterly crushed like that. And if that was just one time I could put it off as me being unlucky, but if I every run into other people who want to kill me I'm dead. I can't even run away because they're faster than me. I've been killed by a dozen or so different people without even being able to put up a fight, and it doesn't help that randomly I'll be put into a duel with someone even though I hit decline so they can just freely kill me. I thought I had pretty decent gear, but AP/DP is such an insurmountable absolute that I can't even put up a fight, not to mention how everyone has so many knockdowns and stuns and freezes, but nothing to break free of them. When you combine all that with the fact that you pretty need to blow hundreds on their cash shop to be able to play the game, it's hard to stay. It's a game you have to BUY in the first place, then they make you buy "Value Packs" or else you might as well not even play with that ridiculous tax, then on top of that stuff drops so much loot that pets are an absolute must, and the cash shop outfits give crazy buffs that are needed if you want to be competitive at all. Then inventory expansion and weight limit. And that's just the one-time purchases, not even getting into the consumables that you need to reach endgame. If you want to be competitive be ready to drop $300 on the game, on top of the actual cost of the game. And as if that wasn't enough, there isn't even an endgame to play in BDO. There's literally only grinding. There aren't the endgame boss battles or dungeons or battlefields that other games have that give you content at the very end, it's just more grinding or curb-stomping new players. BDO is very afk-friendly, which is cool, but unfortunately because of that if you're NOT afking you're losing. I'm playing a video game because I want to *play,* not because I think my computer needs a workout and I can run this forever. There's only so far amazing combat and good graphics can carry a game; it's endgame is lame, underwhelming, and so min-max it's impossible to enjoy; the lifeskills are all horrifically boring, it's hit a button and sit there for ten hours while you do literally nothing and make sure to buy the cash shop outfit or you might as well not do it; the pvp is entirely stat based, skill doesn't even play a part until you're very similar stats, and even then it depends mostly on the class matchup and not actual skill; and the whole game is geared to make you fork over that $300 to have a hope at becoming relevant in the foreseeable future.

I dont mind the mobgrind that much, because i love the combat system. Playing a Wizard, its better than sex man. I remember leaving the game, no other combat system has ever satisfied me as much as BDO did. But it had ALOT of flaws beyond the ones you mention. Biggest one being that you need to be online for shit to progress and since you need your shit to progress, you need to keep your PC running 24/7. Lunatix it's not p2p. Its b2p. Never been p2p. But they def have ALOT of p2w. But the reason its p2w is because they make enchanting so punishing. Hell they make every single aspect of the game a fucking hell, unless you paaaay. When you buy shit with your money and you use the items, the items you bought makes it feel like a normal mmorpg. They are like any eastern mmo, they make the game feel awfull, so you pay, or leave.

Black Desert's PVE aspects are secondary to the Real Money Makers, The PvP/Guild Communists, or that Occassional PK who preys on weak people and tells them to either get on their level or Uninstall, then there are Cosmetic Divas who spend more money Creating the perfect pair of Ass and Tits for Virtual Currency. As long as Top Dollar Top Dog has Money to Spend, They have minimal Care for The Solo Players. As is there are "Raids" in the form of NPC's you can Assist defeating Random Enemies for Exchange Items. There are World Bosses that Spawn On Certain Days, Certain Hours, or for Certain Events. There is last but not least Summon Items you can Gather and Assemble or Obtain as Scrolls/Books To Summon a Field Boss for a Party of Up to 5 People if i'm not mistaken.

Beautiful game and loved exploring the world. Action is fluid and fun. Had a great time until I hit lvl 50ish. Then the asshats started popping up. "Leave or i PK you...." . Now I can't even fight monsters around my level without being killed for no reason. As a new player this was extremely unfair since well...I cant even defend myself. So what's the point of playing a game where you just get pk'd for just leveling? I'd understand if they were around my lvl but getting bullied by people who 1 tapped me everytime is not an enjoyable experience. And dont get me started on the p2w wall.
@ParadoX-os6 жыл бұрын
@carl carlson and that's the reason why the game is dead. Because it locks you behind a p2w wall, then tells you to level up and the only way to do that is by grinding, but then when you try to do that after 50 anyone who thinks they own a farming spot can PK you, because they are either in a party with other people or they just have better gear than you, because they used real money to get stronger than they should be at your level. Then once you manage to reach "end game" after that garbage system of non stop boring grinding, you have literally no end game content to justify what you needed to do to get there, unless you are interested in PvP, which if you are, again good luck fighting people who have used money on the game. BDO is the biggest wasted potential of any MMO out there. Looks fantastic, has great combat mechanics and effects, the open world is very beautiful and immersive...and sadly that's where the good stuff about the game ends.

@reika5426 жыл бұрын
+Heartlessangel350 A lot of the items sold in the pearl shop look and seem like pay to win items to a lot of the playerbase which one can argue they can be (i.e. item slot increase, weight increase and certain outfits) all of which could sum up to 100s of dollars being put into the game. It is pretty much a MUST to own pets, a lot of item slots, increased weight and these certain outfits such as the maid outfit for AFK processing if you do plan to grind for a long long time either being afk or active.
@mickel14706 жыл бұрын
Heartlessangel350 Outside of pets it was all for aesthetic stuff. It's pretty absurd that they lock every nest function behind the cash shop, but that's neither here nor there. I've always had a lot of disposable income to throw st games
@Heartlessangel3506 жыл бұрын
Chinala the only thing that is widely considered p2w is the pets and even that is bare bones, there are events and acheivements that get you pets if you are a loyal player not to mention you can snipe them off the market. Weight, inv slots can also be bought with loyalties and is also widely known to buy those because everything else is pretty much useless in the L shop. I have 1 char that has all the weight increase from the L shop and it is a very decent amount. Alot of cash shop items can be either earned thru achievements/events (pets maids brands) or bought off the MP (something that ALOT of people thought it was going to make the game p2w back in the day, but it did not and now people that dont want to spend more money have access to pearl items)
@mickel14706 жыл бұрын
You make it sound as if a lot of the items people sell on the market place that are aesthetic are often or even half of the time in steady supply. That's not the case. I spent about a month plugging for a certain set of armor only to cave and buy the item on the last day before it was discontinued. Even in other cases, you're going to find folks plugging in chat because the particular set for their particular class isn't in stock. Given how relatively cheap outfit pieces become due to the price regulations it often means you're going to be competing against other folks for the item anytime someone posts saying the item is going up for sale. There are so many factors involving timing and chance that you may as well just buy the outfit yourself and save yourself a great deal of frustration. I did this for several seasonal sets and even when it came to items for my horse. Bdo gives you enough cash shop items (such as the weight increase and what have you) to give you a taste. They want to instill a sense of appreciation in you for these items because they know that will often grow into a sense of need over time. A need that will only be met through buying more from the shop. Tl;DR: My OP was never intended to suggest or point out how much money the game had swindled out of me. I've spent greater sums in wow,gw2 and other korean mmo's over the course of my play time. That said, I for sure would have ended up spending way more by the end if I didn't get outta Black Desert when I did.

You forgot to add that BDO is a glorified single player game... there isn't much community aspect to the game. There is also too much P2W aspects to stay competitive. Also, to not aesthetically look like a hobo at end-game, its necessary to buy pearl shop outfits.
@taki47076 жыл бұрын
Coolflare you can get outfits on marketplace, P2W is defined to where you can directly win by cash shop, thing is, you can’t win at BDO. There is no level cap aside from the softcaps through out the game. I think there Is definitely an aspect in the pearl shop that gives an advantage to players who are willing to pay, but those advantages still allow for the player to work hard for that so called win. Just because you have artisan memories doesn’t mean you will get PEN any quicker than an active enhancer, it’s all to chance and most likely, you are only saving silver by spending less fragments. Yes you can buy pets and gain silver, but you still have to work to get to softcap. Just because you have pets, doesn’t mean you can automatically win the game. It takes work. Now there is the argument that pets are pay to win because you gain a lot more silver from grinding, and BDO is economy based, you need silver for everything. This is true, without pets you simply cannot make as much money as the player with max pets while grinding when you manual loot, considering you can also get free pets from events and MP, you can’t count it as p2w, but a soft convenience hard pay option. A free to play player has the same opportunity to become strong like a “p2w” player, just that you have to actually try and the “p2w” player has the easy silver income.

I am half a year into the game with 420 RS (not high, but given my RL commitments, it was the best I can get), maxed out inventory slots because I totally love doing fishing, and with that RS I do mostly PVE and also some PVP on the side (I get to win some, but mostly get stomped) and biggest thing I learned was to manage expectations. What I found was that many newbies (especially the ones who are intent on not buying a single thing off the pearl shop) quit for a simple reason : they got too ambitious for their own good and subsequently, got burned out within the first 3 months when they realize that the system is not set up the way they want it to be. There's a ton of things to do in the game aside from trying to keep up with whales while having less resources, rushing max level, getting TET/PEN boss gears (which WILL take a lot of time and frustration, even more so for "F2P/Not so lucky players etc") and/or to become "TOP PVP-er", but given how past MMOs operate, it's hard to blame them for taking this mentality to BDO as well. Life skills themselves are in and of themselves a grind because you need silvers, LOTS of em (especially if you have a lousy luck track record) and you better have a working system of income to bring in the dough which requires a much different style of play than "I just want to do dungeons/raids/slice and dice everything in my way while making good money off of it". That being said, every game has it's pro and con. I myself am at that point where I could be considered to have "burnt out" on the game. It demands too much of my time and I need a better purpose for progression, and the "end game" of BDO such as the gear treadmill (most of the reason is for PVP) and consistent grinding for levels/money no longer provides me enough motivation to continue going on and I'm betting the same goes/went for not all, but a decent number of people as well. My progression has been stagnant for the past month as I no longer leave my computer on overnight for processing/afk fishing anymore, neither did I went to arena/NW for practice/engage in world boss hunting etc for a long time now and I would most likely have quit completely if it wasn't for the fact that I like my character, the graphics and the really great combat system. BDO is just a very different kind of MMO from the many conventional ones out there and like many things, you either love it or you don't. If you start the game and realized within the first 1-3 months that it isn't for you, just make your exit and play something else while waiting for the next MMO.
@Kakashi420696 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree with you my dude. It is completely natural to get burnt out too, and that's why it's never a bad thing to put the game on hold and play something else then come back in the future. I think the term "endgame" is becoming too broad of term, specifically in the case of BDO, as there's no traditional "endgame" like say, "wow" or "FFXIV". Most people quit BDO because of few things: 1. how the enchanting system works, frankly it's the worst system ever conceived for a MMO. 2. There's no traditional raids/parties or real "endgame" much like other MMO's. 3. It's a korean MMO with endless grind, and even despite all the grind, you're still locked behind RNG based progression and you're still far far behind many other players already and catching up is unlikely. With all this said, I still enjoy the game, but I do agree that there's not much of a "payoff" from all the time/effort given to the game. But also, in terms of WoW and FFXIV, the endgame is *very* finite, you can max out pretty quick and once you do, you stop logging in for a while because there's nothing else to do until the next content patch which generally will last maybe a month. Then you stop logging in until it's raid time, then log off etc..etc.. All bdo needs is a better gear enhancing system and some sort of broader pve experience and it'd likely be one of the best MMO's on the market.

A game should be fun - PERIOD. If it's work, it's not a game, it can become an obsession. You made a comment about going back to WoW because you needed to get to the next level cap (I believe you used the word needed). If you want to, that's one thing. If it'll be FUN to do it, that's one thing. If you feel a NEED to do it to keep up with others you're missing the point. That's more of an unhealthy obsession. Everything I know about BDO in addition to what little playing I did in it suggested an insane "grind fest". I see no point in this. Knock down mobs, watch them respawn, knock them down again... repeat... over and over and over again. Nothing even changes. At the very least toss me into an instance and let me wipe out some camp of nasties and let me pretend I accomplished something. To rip through something and watch it respawn behind you is the height of despoiling my immersion. There's no point to games like BDO. Pretty - yes. I wish all games looked so nice. Pointless - YES. NOTHING a player does feels like an accomplishment. You can learn another language in the time wasted in a grind fest like this. So sad. If it was FUN... that would be different. BDO isn't.

It's not mandatory PvP, it's mandatory curb-stomping. On Olvia, which you can play on for a month, you can get by with a bit of luck and some server hopping. On the normal servers you get killed instantly for daring to think about going near someone's grind spot, and they'll camp the respawn point too, forcing you to respawn back at town, which can be a good ten minute run to get back to anywhere you want to be.
@chinkajack4 жыл бұрын
When hit lvl 50 PvP is enabled. This doesnt mean we have to do PvP. Most of the time PvP is easy to avoid, if PvP is not your thing. I hate PvP. Have been ganked about twice in 2 years of playing BDO and one of those was because i was in guild war. The first time was because i didnt know what to look out for.

It actually isn't that bad, and that is coming from me, someone who hates PvP. As long as you don't join a server with the PvP guilds on it, you rarely get attacked. Most people are pretty chill.
@ivansalcedo22904 жыл бұрын
It's not Mandatory to become lvl 50, for Lifeskills/Trade you can remain immune to forced PVP by Choosing to never release the lvl 49 Cap. The Olvia Growth Server is also a Great Non Forced PVP Hotspot while it lasts. They bring those Servers up as a Welcome back Event and Introduction for Newcomers with Many Benefits you don't need on regular Servers. You get 30 days on Olvia or Until you reach a Lvl (59/60) then you need to Transfer over that Character to a Regular Server. Between then, You can always just Create a New Character for Olvia, Farm, Gather, Fish, Tame, Mine, Smith, etc. Then never be Harassed by PKs. As much as they'd like to be Douchebags they can't in Olvia, and they also Can't hurt Anyone below lvl 50.

Loved BDO at the start... but then it's death by a thousand cuts. Toxic Playerbase Massively unbalanced PVP. To the point where Like 6 players can be completely destroyed by a single higher geared player. Never once did I have an evenly matched pvp contest. Just getting trounced by an over geared opponent, or lolrolling over a lower tiered player. And the classes are ludicrously unbalanced to the point where only a small number of them are worth playing at all. Arbitrary limits to progression. Like limits on the amount of items that can be sold for imperial trading or cooking per day. Pointlessly complex node system. Grind, Grind, Grind. And most high level players want to grind enemies that fall to one hit while yielding the highest amount of gold and XP. That means everyone ends up getting bottlenecked into the same grinding areas. Sausan's anyone? In other MMO's you're rewarded for taking on harder mobs. In BDO you just endlessly one hit greys ad nauseum. And areas where tougher mobs are located are pretty much vacant. No reward to fighting them. No decent resource drops and silver from them isn't worth the effort. PVE is shit. Huge swaths of the game aren't even worth the trouble. Take the entire desert region. Get lost without a compass and you're fucked. And the compass can actually wear out. You feel pressured to do everything you can before the compass breaks, which ruins the enjoyment of just trying to enjoy your surroundings. On top of that constantly having to worry about hypothermia or heat exhaustion. Having to give up weight just to carry the resources needed to survive all that... and for what? Server performance was shit. Constant desyncs, lag and tearing. And the worse... the fucking RNG. Gathering the massive resources needed to even attempt a gear upgrade only to have it fail... and worse the gear ending up being WORSE than before the attempt, or even unusable... And if you think you're just going to just get what you need off the marketplace, good luck with that. Even when decent gear is available (which is rare) the cost is exorbitant. So of course I fucking quit. I'm not a masochist. BDO is nothing but a collection of pain points with a thin layer of decent combat thrown in to keep you fucking yourself over. Eventually It's just not worth it. I bounced at 58, and my only regret is that I started playing in the first place.

@adammountford88714 жыл бұрын
@@June96255 It's Pay for a better chance to win. Its a lot like being stranded on a desert island. The only thing to do on this island is a casino. Some people have been stranded for 2 years or more. So long that they don't remember how they won enough times to progress to the "big tables". Some of these people are nice and will try to tell you the best way to gamble. Still, though they are lost and brainwashed from only free diluted whiskey to drink and the occasional overpriced froufrou cocktail to "help things along". They don't realize that the things they're telling you either never worked or just got changed and they haven't been paying attention. Other People are not so nice and will use you for the various types of cannon fodder that any newer arrival is good for. Stick to the slots and you are generally safe though. How ever you will never get to the "Big Table" You can be allowed to play at the "Big Table" if you win enough to dress to the 9s. (soft cap~550 GS) Where you will be thrown into games with players who are dressed to the 9.75s (261ap) on a good day and 10s really most of the time. OKAY. end of that bit. In truth it is pay to progress faster and more conveniently. But even with those convenience items you could theoretically NEVER progress to 560 gs. It is completely RNG. Which is the point at which you have a real chance to have an actual GF in bdo. I'll not go into the pvp system in BDO that in my honest opinion is trash. With out the campsite and at outfit and underwear and 5 tier 3 or better pets (which have to be leveled by smashing lower tier pets together so it's really no less then 15 pets but could take as many as 30 or more) it would take literally forever to just hit softcap,

While I'm not quitting, I've been playing less and less because of wanting to do just PVE without a guild (due to my life/work balance) where it is common to get killed by one or more players sometimes just traveling on the roads (i.e. not grinding, just heading back to town). And if I want to go to an area for just missions, and there are others there... almost guaranteed to get killed and no way to avoid PVP other than just fishing (which I'll do if I'm reading or doing something else). Add in the grinding time, price of items, etc.... and less and less of my time is spent on the game. It's fun when people cannot player kill you (especially in one hit without a chance to even run), and after that just becomes a time sink waste.
@christiangonzalez69456 жыл бұрын
Ok why i did quit BDO, i dont want to write this so i will try to be short... 1) Lies: the game its advertised as many things, but as always the devil its in the details, for example the game its advertised to have an afk component where you can progress, surprise, your computer must be on and the game running, thats what i would call a lie, some people would argue that its not, but for me the fact that they dont make this information explicit, well... Second, the game its advertised as free after the initial fee witch is not really, again people will argue that you do not need to spend money in the game, but given the game mechanics all the benefits of the "paid subscription" are "just too good to let them pass" if you catch my drift, basically the end game consist on having a BIG "afk" empire, enough to have enough silver to pay the premium subscription so when you actually are playing the game its not "a waste of time" aka bleeding your eyes leveling, my conclusion to this i think the game its pay to win... Basically, silver = power = gear, all this plus paid subscription = exp = silver... Again you may disagree and i would agree with you if point 2 did not exist... 2) Korean Model: i love mmos but i hate korean mmos, the grind its never rewarded, its a slot machine over a slot machine over a slot machine, in what i would call american mmos when you craft a item or when you farm for something you know what you will get, they say to you you must kill the boss and get 100 ultrarare ingots and then you will have enough to craft the sword, in the korean mmo there is an additional step, after you drop the ingots to the furnace you hit the lever, after that you may or may not have a finished item for god sake this is coming from someone that farmed the "Timbermaw Hold" reputation in vanilla wow, to this day i have PTSD from those fucking furbolgs, but you know what? i knew how many i had to kill all the time... Second, "durability", inflation and deflation of the shitton of fake money printed from real money its managed by "durability" items are mostly comprised of "consumables of long duration" a sistem again that i dislike... 3) cost/benefit: im a whale, i spend money, but i never did in BDO, everything was expensive, nothing i did see earned my money, you can buy many things in another games for so much less, i dont know how much i have spend in warframe, i know what it is to spend a couple of bucks in a digital scarf, but when such a digital scarf have a 7 days time expiration, and to have the always forever scarf you have to pay 4 times the price, ho! my scarf its the +5 version and i can make it the +10 version but i have to hit the lever and get the jackpot, the only thing that helps you get your items from the floor instead of clicking them, are the pets and pets cost real money.... ummm... ummmmm.......... the only item that its so much a bargain that "you must not be crazy to not buy it" its the premium token, such a good bargain its so much fucking obvious... warframe does this too, but at least there is a point where you do not really get benefits from it.. 4) difficulty/lack of polish: the game just have two difficulties, you one shot everything, or you get one shotted, this is an oversimplification of the pve or the pvp, but cmon its a meme in the community you cant deny its true, the game has beautifull visually compelling combat that you never see because you one shot everything... Basically the game is the mix of everything that its wrong with FTP games and their pletora of "tricks" to make purchases more compeling and to make the grind "less grindy" the eye candy its good enogh to make you check the price of the shirt, and then roll your eyes at the price, instead of the hey this game its great i want to support it... The game its gorgeous, and the pvp its beautiful when its not reduced to the math problem that it simply is when there is a difference of itemization in 1vs1, the only reason i play from time to time its the aestetics and that i have not finished it, the history and the world building are very interesting to me and while the quests sometimes are lame there is so much voice acting, again the game has his pletora of strong points sadly there are more polished games that respect my time and my money more, with more compelling combat and less tricks... its like having the best meal in town with a glass of sewage water... Thats why i did not wanted to write this, i knew i would not be short...

If both sides are AP build and equally geared, you'll get one shot no matter what your GS is, the fun of the PvP is to catch your opponent and combo them down before they can catch you. But if you don't like it that way, there's also the option of shifting your build closer to DP to make the fight lasts longer.

As a pretty old player(i started playing somewhere around warrior awakening) that reached 500gs cap and quitted awhile ago i can tell you why this game sucks: 1.)RNG: Don t get me wrong, rng is good in mmos, but the way bdo makes it its just too much, basically a good diceroll is the difference between getting 2 months worth of progress in 2 clicks and getting a tri armor/weapon in 1 month(yea i actually managed to fail 12 times tri, and even 16 duos in a row) 2.)Pearl Shop: It's one thing for an item shop to be p2w, ppl just quit and force the devs to change it, but bdo has the most disgusting disguise for this, called "convenience" yea sure you can live without pets, storage, weight, inv slots, tent, and more, but a f2p player vs a 60$monthly investition player progresses 4-5 times slower, and progression is the next topic 3.)Progression: The difference between gear in players is astonishing, a 450 gs player will literally stomp on a 380 gs player and get deleted by a 510gs player(as a general example, depending on what that gs is actually made of it might not be the case), which is not really bad considering you have to work so much for that specific gear, but players keep getting more and more gearscore while the content stays the same, kama expansions added grinding spots for the softcap(or nearing softcap) and beyond players, so the rest are forced on spots that are grindable with low ap, thus new players meeting old ones(gahaz, even met ppl from siege guilds here lulz) and its not the old player's fault, they cant grind anything better until they hit a certain ap, and even then, classes such as ninja are locked in these kind of spots 4.)Nodewars: A secondary effect, or maybe one even more impactful of the raise of overall gs is that nodewar scene is dominated by high gearscore, so a new player has to grind half an year, or god knows how much, depending on his rng and $$$ spent to get to experience the beautiful but fucked pvp system which i ll discuss below 5.)PVP: This point is the thing that literally made me quit, the former pvp system wasnt perfect, ninja could 1combo a softcap with 180 ap, mystic was pretty much immune to CC while having A GOD FUCKING BROKEN SLOW... sry for that, but I had fun with it, skill was still a thing, you had to know how to keep your protection up. Now with the new system, the pvp is a rng fest, CC that can or cannot hit depending on rnjesus? fuck off, 75% gear, 25% luck, this is todays pvp. there may be more things but i feel like these are the main things that dragged this game down, it was the game i had the most fun with, met a lot of cool people in different guilds and at its core this game is wonderful, there is so much more to do than just grind sausan and pirates but unfortunately greedy and deaf devs/publisher made it in what's today, a whale milker RIP BDO, best MMO i played by far

So i have some comments I'd like to say about your video maybe consider it as a feedback if you want. 1 - You were very repetitive in your video i swear i could hear same sentences like a few times at different times , i thought you should try organizing your thoughts and make some points to speak of on a script ( maybe ? ) 2 - About Black Desert, you didn't mention a lot of other reason that caused players to quit Like : The unavailability of items in BDO Market Place, You have to be online to bid/buy the item. Pre Order prices are stupid and not new player friendly Players are expected to have a lot of alts to be able to enhance the gear without spending extra useless money. Unrewarding and punishing Enhancing System that Depends on RNG over RNG over RNG The Progression of the whole game is based on RNG over RNG. Unavailability of farm spots even in Sausans ..etc (saw a lot of lvl 61~ 62 ) farming there although they should have gone somewhere else. most people PK you on spot instead of talking to you to leave your spot so you end up feeling miserable like powerless. Having to purchase Pets is a must and not even 3 pets, minimum 5 pets tier 1 to be able to do anything. Having to purchase a value pack is a must in my opinion as the benefits of the value pack is crazy and hard to miss. Having to deal with the fucking weight system which only exists to milk people out of their money. Having to deal with a lot of other bullshit in the game that have missed and I hate to say this but you were wrong at one point, better geared players doesn't always mean that he spent more time in the game , rather just lucky to get Duo,Tri,Tet one tap and i saw it happen all the time. I think it's time to stop playing this awful game and search for alternatives, Even spending 3 hours daily grinding in this game won't do you anything in terms of progression.

I’m glad you addressed these issues, more people should be discussing them, imho. Game mechanics and graphics often take precedence over gameplay, and that’s tragic, for sure. The big question is what to do about it? Often times solutions to one issue can cause others. ‘Easier leveling’ is often brought up, but I have to say that’s just folks being lazy- and why should new payers get a pass when established players fought tooth and nail to get where they are? As a new(ish) solo player myself the main issue I have for the entire game is the learning curve. The BDO world is vast and detailed, and just figuring out what to focus on and where to start is overwhelming. 40% of my BDO Experience is me sitting on google, trying to find answers- and that’s no way to play a game. Luckily there are some helpful players who have set up tutorials for various skills, etc., but most of these sites assume you already know a lot. The game has some basic “how to’s” built into the quest lines (if you can find them), but after they get you started they leave you hanging out to dry. I’d love to see someone make a walkthrough for each aspect of the game written for virgin players that have specific interests in the game but no idea how/where to even start, let alone how to become proficient. As for the gear issues at higher level PVP- there’s no easy solution I can imagine without drastically changing the way PVP works in BDO. I’d love to hear everyone’s ideas on this, though!

I know this is a year old, but I'll comment anyways. I am also a PvE person, so as someone who has played the game for a long time, I can say it is severely lacking in that department. The only PvE is grinding mobs and the occasional world boss. There are no real dungeons and no raids. PvP varies depending on the server you're in. As long as you stay away from the servers with PvP guilds, then you'll be fine. I've played BDO for thousands of hours now, and I've only been PKed maybe a dozen times. Honestly, I just play it for the people. The only reason I've spent so much time in the game is because of my friends. There are some really lit people on there, so if you're looking for that sort of thing, I think it's worth spending some time playing.
@Dumbledoresarmy136 жыл бұрын
I really loved the combat, and I spent a lot of time with the farming,cooking, fishing life skills. But when my guild sorta fell apart, I realized it's all just...busywork activities you can do while chatting with friends. There's not much you can do WITH friends, apart from maybe guild quests. You can't trade with friends, so you couldn't work on a ship together, trade gear, not even give your friend some carrots for his horse. There are a bunch of life skills but you don't really do those with people. And on the flip side, the busywork aspect of the life skills and the mob farming is kind of tedious so even people who enjoy it for the single player experience get worn down and bored. And that's not even accounting for the enhancing system, and how ridiculously expensive everything is. I did not have enough time or money for that busywork simulator, no matter how pretty it was.

Everyone about vanilla WoW: sooooo much grinding BDO: hold my exp
@IWubYooz4 жыл бұрын
I've given some thought to this. I'd say 1-56 in BDO for a new player is about the same as 1-20 in WoW classic. Sure grinding required scales ridiculously in BDO (and is infinite) compared to WoW Classic, but at least WoW classic provides combat oriented content which is not just grinding as an option. And I'm saying this as someone who grinded a toon to 60 within weeks of WoW classic release almost exclusively on grinding mobs (Only doing class quests), so I'm not afraid of the grind at all. But if the end goal or the only future content is to basically just grind more, then forget that mess. Perhaps I'm wrong and tell me if I am, but as long as there is no other content besides PvP and grinding in PvE as content, then I have nothing different to really look forward to. Makes me a bit sad because I love that this game looks like a game that belongs in 2020 (even retail WoW looks like 2004 graphics still) and has an interesting combat system compared to tab targeting, but none of that makes up for a game with no interesting end-game.

Doing main quest and trying my best to enjoy the story is a good way for me to ignore all of its flaws. That being said, one of the biggest problems I have playing this game is its story representation. BDO has a decent story, an enjoyable one to certain degrees, but their presentation of the story is really boring and unengaging. How am I suppose have a good quality time in this game if I am not immersed in its story and its world? Sure the graphics are amazing, sometimes jaw-dropping in some areas, but the world still feels so hollow and dead. I feel like this game lacks its solid goal that is tied to its story, which would help gives the players a clear objective in this game. And a good way to do it is to make the players get immersed in the game.

I started the game a 2 weeks ago. When I get to finish a good amount of quest, and level up a bit, I'm probably going to quit. 90% because pay to win. You can play the game alone like an offline game, explore etc, but you can't compete with other people that paid 200 $ and pays 20$ a month.
@Mezha074 жыл бұрын
You can actually compete against them lol they give you like 60day value pack when you buy the game because one from steam and one from the game you literally could reach tri bossgear with 3 or more characters in a month and tet bossgears for 2 months it takes a total of 2-3 hours to literally xp boodt charactera to combat lvl 56 for awakening and a max of 48 hours to fully build a contribion and energy standing another week to finish up getting nodes and leveling lifeskills and hirig workers youcould literally earn give or take 50million silver minimun every day after the first 2 months and you'd have complete tri bossgear by then or at least an entire armor set with a tet liverto weapon seriously you could do all this withit sacrificing your social life earning that much silver and farming that much xp ain't that hard when you know where, how and when to do it lol. Next time they release an mmo like this they should probably place a disclaimer that says "made for eastern players since SEA servers for mmos are the literally last servers that die out when an mmo is dying geez no wonder asians are better at most things since they actually place enough time to do everything that includes an hour or two a day it doesn't take that long to harvest your earnings once you manage to build a worker empire in BDO seriously if you focus on pvp too much then you probanly hate it cause someone is stronger than you because he/she spended more time in the game which for obvious reason is fair the person made a choice and freely did it without crying like a baby

He's actually wrong about Guild Wars 2 at 16:25. You can play competitive PvP in Gw2 at level 2. As soon as you join the PvP arena you're boosted to max level, unlock all your skills, and given a choice of gear stats. Everyone is put on the same playing grounds in PvP. It's entirely about skill.

I feel the time on Olvia servers is too short, I'm pretty new and today's my final day on Olvia, I know for sure I won't be able to grind places because the gear differences are going to be massive which means I'll end up losing almost every fight I get into. I've also started to see this game as a job rather than enjoyment, hearing the horror stories of trying to enchant boss gear for example from my more veteran friends. What awaits me now? Getting nothing done grinding wise, struggling to catch up in gearing, what is the point in playing?
@patrickos946 жыл бұрын
You are 100% right. I started this game like a month ago now when i got kick from olvia server I just dont want to play this game anymore, hard to stay on spot when someon stomp you because he have much better gear. How can I compare myself and farm to someon who just oneshots me. Didn't even tried pvp because I know I will get stomped badly. I need bilions of money right now and when I lost access to olvia and value pack its really hard to grind some money (I really like grind in this game thats on +). And there comes pearl's shop, which you really need to invest in endgame (pets/outfits/slots/weight). Start is really nice but they should do warning you need to invest more money if you want to do well at end game. I really liked this game for this month but now I feel like I want to quit this game because I want to play game for fun not to invest my money cuz its not my real life.
@tomorrowduong49146 жыл бұрын
I understand your point! And I think you will want a different approach tho. I myself have been playing the game for years with 2 free attendant pets but still enjoy exploring, taking care of my farm. I do grind almost everyday for the 200% buff and stuff...but only that. People in Battle Arena are nice. They often take off their gear for a fair fight with me. And yea, just try new things, break down your goal and you will get it ^^
@patrickos946 жыл бұрын
Oh, thats a good idea thanks :D
@Kakashi420696 жыл бұрын
Agree with Tomorrow^. Battle Arena is a good place with 1 silver pots where you can train yourself in duels and people will always take your gear off to match yours. Try to keep on grinding without the value pack, the only real benefit to the value pack is extra storage slots (which can be worked around too by just throwing some CP into towns for storage slots or better self item managing) and the marketplace sales tax reduction. Even then, if you're not selling shit worth more than 1.5m per item, the MP tax reduction won't bring you THAT much more money.
@tomorrowduong49146 жыл бұрын
Actually you have choice to overcome that by saving up your loyalties for a one-day VP for any kinda big MP sell as well.

Tbh, I like teras combat better because it's not hack and slash. The thing that's better about black desert is the controls. It's so much smoother than hotkeys (1,2,3,4 etc.) But combat alone, I prefer Tera.
@TheArnoldification6 жыл бұрын
BDO combat is bad mechanically speaking. High APM is the goal to winning which is pretty much antithetical to modern game balance. It's very flashy but it's pretty much hammer buttons and whoever farmed more autistically wins. Have you tried guild wars 2? It's a flawed game but the combat is at least fairly skill based as far as MMO's go.
@Tommyvang1876 жыл бұрын
I prefer Vindictus over Tera personally, It follows actual combat based games like Nier Automata, or DMC, or Ninja Gaiden or Monster Hunter much more than Tera does. I couldn't get over how the camera system works in Tera, its still very MMO-like.

Black Desert is not for today's casual "instant gratification " players. I personally am interested in the lore and story. The fishing , and the the in game economy, et cetera. Great combat. All the questing. Which there is apparently 10,000 quests. Another thing is the game has had a solid community around the world for like a decade. Black Desert is again, not for casual players. These players are not who you want in your game. Theres a way however to invite the right players for a community and I think pearl abyss is working that out. They just know they have a strong dedicated community that love the game, and wont betray those veteran players. But at the same time, the recent patch added some item for quicker leveling , as they acknowledged how long it takes. They are completely aware of it. It's not a race people. It's a marathon. They want you to enjoy Black desert as one of the finer experiences in life. The game is a work of art. And quick satisfaction seeking crybaby gamers need not apply.

that's why you never throw in gear stats into PVP combat. 2 guys with equal skill, if one person out gear the other person, you're dead. B&S has a really fair PVP system. no matter what level you are, you have a chance of beating the other player even if they out gear you. because no gear stats are involve! you have to out skill your opponent. not out gear. On top of all that, what makes things worst is that, even if you add gear stats in, getting geared is so damn hard. new players can't earn silvers easily like old players. boss drops are already so low, enhancing is also harder on top of all that you need FS. which uses more blackstone which new players can't get it that easily. after +15 you need hards and sharps which is even harder to get if you don't have silver. you can say that new players can grind. yes. grinding with shit gear is really slow on top of that, if you're level 50 and above, you have a chance of meeting a dick head that kills you for no reason. well, i also a new player and i've come to a point that i'm too lazy to grind because of my lousy gear. and i'm just life skilling to get my silvers. which i still don't have enough.

I will say, i have my one friend who has invested a lot of time into properly learning his class. Hes sitting currently at 490 ish gearscore and lives in BA. He will fight people with up to 540+ gs and still win. There still is some "skill" requirement for pvp.
@Syn7416 жыл бұрын
Big Russian Bear increase the distance between the gs and the problem is more obvious. I'm not saying skill doesn't matter. I'm saying if one person that has shit gs vs one person that has good gs. Even if both their skills are evenly match, shit gs will never win the better one. And that's the problem. If no gs is involve. You would have a good fight. The battle of skills. Not battle of gs

Well I'm playing on xbox and I love the game, grinding isn't a problem for me. Destiny 1 and 2 as taught me a lot about rng and loot. But my problem with bdo is the forced pvp... it is so bad for me currently. I'm lvl 55, and I get killed for no reason at all by other players. I get one shot a Lot. I will be just doing quests only for a person who has probably no lifed the hell out of the game, to kill me non stop. I try to continue the quest only for the guy to follow me, just to kill me. The pvp is forced on you the moment you hit lvl 50 and ur going against people who can fuck you up in one hit. If they fixed forced pvp. I would say that this mmo is the best. I will admit, I'm not really a pvp guy, I enjoy helping others fight bosses and stuff. But as of right now, I don't think I want to continue if the pvp is going to stay this bad. I guess I just have terrible luck with finding assholes in my games.

this is a very good video because this was the very same reason that I had when I just started playing BDO, and for some reason, I keep playing BDO until today, The one thing I would like to say is that the has become very casual and newbie-friendly (except for the grinding part, it's still tedious as fuk), Life skillings are very simplified and can make the same if not better money than grinding mobs, you can easily get full TRI boss gear, and plus they give you 5 Pets for free now just by simply doing the main quest. Back in the day, we were supposed to discover most of the content of the black desert by ourself but nowadays the game actually hold our hands pretty tightly so new player have a better grasp of understanding on how to do most of its content, All in all, I would say that the game has gotten a lot better. I've been playing it for more than 2 years now, and I can't say that I never quit the game once in a while (PEN enhancing shieet) Btw, the Game UI on your video gives me a huge nostalgia Bonner, damn that UI looks old.

I'm not through the video and i don't know if i'll make it but i can tell you what made me quit after only a month. 1: Awakening. You have a class you like, you just love playing it. And then comes the awakeing that just destroys everything in a second. (yes ninja, looking at you) I tried all the classes and gave up. It just isn't thought through enough 2: The braindead grind. Not much to say about it. You grind mobs, you grind lifeskills, everything. 3: Degenerates running around killing you. 4: Upgrading the gear. Probably the worst, most rediculous and retarded shit i've ever seen. You get badly punished for having bad rng. 5: Lack of GOOD pve content. 6: More degenerates ganking you 7: Even more degenerates 8: Texture pop in. 9: Overpriced Cash shop with some shady "almost p2w" items The game had potential. And it's fun for a good month. But then everything just falls apart. I fully regret putting any money into it.

It's dying but it's no doubt a successful MMO. Also, no, there are way more people playing on the steam client. The game got a huge resurgence of players after it got released on steam. It's pretty much plateaued in players though. As a new player, you simply can't compete against other guilds/top players. All the casuals have already played and left and there are only the tens of thousands who still play the game, which is enough to keep the game going and the for the devs/pubs to keep milking them.
