I have a 21 MT09 SP. Absolutely a much better bike than the 2nd gen 09s that I've ridden, stock and modified. I wasn't a fan of the headlight at first but it grew on me. It's just an all-around excellent package for street riding. Best bike I've owned by far.

I just drove my 2021 MT-09 across the country from Connecticut to Washington. A total of 7386 miles in two weeks. The bike worked flawlessly. Not a single hiccup. Can’t say enough good things about them. Great performance, versatile and super reliable. Oh, and the bike was bone stock. All I added was an alarm and a USB port to charge my phone.

I very thankful the Ninja 400 and Z400 sold out in my area because I wouldn't have this cool bike. Minus the extra power those bikes may have ; this Duke 390 really looks a lot cooler in my opinion. Sounds like you’ve been reading my comments. I would prefer the SP but I couldn’t find one. I just so happened to walk into a store that had one base model on the floor and I immediately pulled the trigger and bought it. Best decision ever. I absolutely love it! I personally like the front end. I got a Puig screen on it. Really pulls the front together by hiding the dash and that open space above the headlight.

AGREED! I've been riding a 2014 MT07 for over a year now, I love it!!! It has amazing low end torque (easy wheelies), it's super lightweight and the centre of weight is super low but overall its not a very fast bike and has budget suspension. My next bike is gonna be the new MT09 or the new XSR900 for sure!!!

Try a Husqvarna Nuda900. In my opinion it is so better than a MT09 (I have ridden a mt09). I drove a MT07 for two years before i got my big bike license.

Tracer 9 gt has electronic suspension so you can’t adjust it you only get the suspension what Yamaha has set up for you electronically and the settings aren’t right because Yamaha doesn’t know how much you weigh

I have a 2021 MT-09 SP and love it; I made a great decision when I selected it. Yes, they are hard to find. I spoke with Yamaha customer service a while back and the guy I spoke with referred to it as the "Unicorn". I had to look around a lot to find a dealer that had one on order, but no deposit made on it yet. I took 6 months to get it, but it was worth the wait. Good luck.

Cruza; I was a Legal messenger/Process server in So California for 25 years(first 15 exclusively using motorcycles) from 1986. I wore a similar body armor jacket in the summer only they were 'seperates' bought from the Off-Road department and then I'd wear an oversized jersey over top of everything so not to look like robo cop waiting in a law office lobby. Back in 1986 1/4 inch of memory foam was commonly used to reinforce the elbows & knees of leather motorcycle wear.

I have a 2020 MT09 and I’m picking up a 2022 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S later this week. The MT09 is a LOT for the street but it’s rideable in urban areas unlike most liter bikes. I didn’t fall in love with the sound but I’ve had a lot of people tell me how much they like it. I recommend risers and an ohlins rear spring if you’re buying 1st or 2nd gen. 3rd gen is a lot better but looks ugly.

I love the MT-09 and the MT-10 but for me i dont like to ride in city to many cars so i like to ride on country roads but before i do that i have to ride on highway to check out of the city to find those scenery roads so the MT-09 is not realy made for highway speed due to lack of protection for your body with all the winds and stuff. So im gonna keep my Kawasaki Concours its made for highway speed yes its heavy but im use to it after 4 years of riding it just love that bike. But still one day maybe trade it for the MT-10 install a windscreen for more protection and keep riding with less weight beteween my legs and having that monster of torque.keep it up man. Ride safe

Agree completely for a highway and city bike. The MT series has the best complete package for the $$$$. They're really now affordable Ducati with better motor performance with smaller motors. What Honda did to Triumph in 1971. I agree the seat is weird. I'm going to replace my current 49000mile ride with a Yammie MT, but I'm going to get a custom upholstered seat

Imo, for the most part, Japan is not great at making good looking bikes. I wish they would change their style a bit, maybe hire some Italian designers. I don't like the looks of the new MT-09 or MT10 headlights. However, throw a leg over the bike and the biker's looks don't matter anymore.

FZ 7,8,9 are the best in town bikes, but all are demanding machines on the highway or during travel. 2nd generation FZ1 is best all around road bike hands down.

Very true 2 bikes after 50yrs riding and dozens of bikes stick in my best of all memory..2011 fz1 and 2017 zx14r, the mt09 2023 is like the fz1 without the top end rush but better low end torque ,the zx14r was insane every where and nothing compares IMHO except weight.

Looking at current inflation rate I'd say the best bike in 2022 to have is the one you currently have. :)) Not sure if I'd be able to get over the headlight on the new MT09 ... although you don't see it that much - only if you approach the bike from the front :D I personally would go for something with more fairings like Tracer 7 or Tiger Sport 660.

I totally agree i drove the mt 09 2021 it really good better than the mt 07 but i don't drive that aggressive the mt 07 has enough power for me it can take me anywhere

Bought a bike a month ago.....MT 09/SP , TRIPLE RS, DUKE 890 R were the contenders yamahas had 2-3k markup over MSRP and severely low inventory....500 mile radius and I think 3 were available, TRIPLE RS almost same with 2k markup.....890 duke r got a deal under msrp from a guy I used to race with in mx that has dealership..... So yeah, if you can find one and not pay markup it's good deal....... Think I would get XRS 900 over MT though.... again if you can find one without ADMs.....it just looks better and shares alit of similarities but longer swingarm bit more stable..... But I love my bike....more I ride it the better it is....brakes, handling, motor are awesome.....I would buy it again fir sure.....it was cheaper than yamaha with markup they wanted....

I love my 21 MT09 sometimes I wish I did get the SP because of the cruise control and better suspension and seat other than that I love mine. If you end up getting one cyclecruza check out Dominator exhaust they are best bang for you buck

I have a 22 MT 09 cyan and won’t get another bike. I don’t need cruise control so the SP didn’t make sense for me to lay the extra. But I love this bike!

You dont get the SP for cruise control. You get it for the suspension.

cruise is a bonus. But saying that to just set it for a bit to rest your wrist sometimes is a godsend. I was very lucky and had to wait only 6 weeks for a 23 MT-09 SP in Victoria Australia. Could not haggle on price and a RRP of 18.5k Ozzy was well worth it, for me. Watched heaps of videos and got to test ride a base 09. Fell in love. The bike is well manned and nimble around town but bat shit crazy if you get on it. Had it about 3 weeks and got 500Kms on it. Yer the tank is small and the steering angle is tight while stopped. That is it for the down sides for me. If the cost of the SP over the Base is stopping you from pulling the trigger.......buy the base......great bike too. LOVE the sound while getting on it, and the quick shifter while takes a bit to get use to but is awesome. I tend to use clutch most of the time as it is easy and smooth. But if i am getting going, you can twist, hang on and feed her gears as you are most definitely over legal speeds by then. On that note the bike does tend to encourage you to enjoy slower speeds and use that torque to get around. But be warned, restraint is required. Nuf said. Good luck and ride safe.

I want a new MT09 but the XSR 900 in black looks SWEET! Now im 50/50. I like the side mirrors better too. Plus u get cruise control as a bonus. At this point I might as well wait for the 23s to come out and enjoy my MT03 a little longer.

I had the first gen Mt09 and put 50k miles on it with no one single issue but the bike was to bugdet and lack of safety features. Bought a retro bike style Z900rs café because my hooligans days are over lol. I’ll probably get the XSR 900 in the future looks better also. But overall my Mt was awesome.

The MT-09 triple cylinder engine is awesome. They are making the bike better and better with every new generation. I really dig the MT series. yamaha understands what we really want in a street bike. The Z900rs is really nice! I have yet to own a Kawasaki but need to.

@@CycleCruza agreed the engine is awesome but Yamaha need to hired some Italian designers…I was really looking for the new XSR but again why Yamaha the seat was a big let down even if the bike overall is great. So I decided to try something different and I rode all types of bike except retro style ones. After a lot of research best selling retro was speed twin and Z900rs. Wanted to buy the Speed twin because of the bottom end torque and the build quality of triumph but my heart went towards that Rs Café and didn’t regret my purchase. Is it perfect? Nope but it’s a joy to ride it and good power too. Like I was telling you before try something different you can always resale it.
