Sivir and Trundle came from a time where movement speed actually mattered. In the early times charging with 700 movement speed on a adc was a threat. Nowadays there are 16 dashes on every champion so they can just outplay you. Especially Trundle does not have a lot of damage since he still needs to build tanky to close gaps, stealing stats isn't good enough anymore

That actually is a very good point. Before, higher movement speed was a huge advantage because 450 vs 350 MS meant for most champions, they could not catch you (or you could catch up to them).

In fairness, I think a Trundle rework doesn't need to be that dramatic to be effective. Instead of being a champion who is only great at split pushing (but not waveclear) and countering strong tanks, you could keep that--albeit to a lesser degree--in exchange for improving his terrain generation/manipulation aspect. Make his ultimate more interactive or dynamic than a point-and-click that is mainly effective against tanks and no one else. Trundle's kit and themes have a lot of potential for growth and adding interesting or more versatile dynamics while still keeping his core intact. Trundle's biggest problem is not that his design is fundamentally flawed, but rather that his design is just too niche and one-dimensional--but it can definitely be added to and tweaked without losing what people like about him. This is great news for Trundle players, in contrast with much harder and more fundamental problems with champions like Azir, Kallista, A-Sol, etc..

I think they can do something like make his ulti drains stats from the target until the target is either dead or manage to get out of a specific range around trundle (much like lb's E or karma's W) it reward players for moving between attacks, using his pillar correctly to block mobility spells while also help his dueling power against other bruisers on the toplane

As someone who mainly plays a lot of the champs in these vids, I appreciate these more clear cut good at certain things and not at everything champs and making it work regardless. Trundle is a far more sensible stat stick type champ than Mundo for example. Not every champ needs all types of flashy nonsense to be a good champ. It might be me being from season 3 but each and every champ since Yasuo besides a few have lost that spirit of what made league fun to play in those good old days with friends, when it was a simpler game and you didn't need an encyclopedia to read a passive.

In a way, if trundle grows stronger based on the enemy tank growing stronger, if he is toplane against a tank, especially so a tank who doesn't actually become that much more dangerous with more gold, the "ideal" scenario might actually be to go kill for kill with it, so that you both gain money, but you essentially gain part of their money as well if you can ult them every time the teamfights start

Ah I remember when the old trundle was actually the old trundle. this trundle is a reworked trundle, would you believe it? If I remember correctly his Q didnt slow back in the day and his W also gave him tenacity. I totally favoured his old lore too, because he was a hero, who took the entirety of a deadly curse, that afflicted his clan all upon himself and because he was unique among his troll brethren, he regenerated his cells faster, than the curse could rot away at his body. the fact that he was super fucking ugly, and disgusting and that this was the result of his love and devotion to his people, that I think was kinda cool. instead he´s now a frost troll king - yeah whatever, at least his Q now slows, that is a massive improvement for him. I really love this series but I feel like this video was particularly unfair to the champion much more than others in the series.. I know you always mention you want a discussion and you do highlight some of Trundle's strengths in the video; but those are quickly drowned out by your comments on how boring and one dimensional he is. You come back to that point multiple times, sure he's not the most flashy and for sure is a reason people don't play him. But most of Trundle's strengths were overlooked or omitted, I know its impossible to know everything about all champions your discussing but these are two obvious ones.. - Trundle is exclusively desired in pro play when long range poke is meta, his pillar in siege situation is insanely powerful when you have a Jayce, Varus, or Xerath attempting to lay down poke. Not only does it slow but it also can force player to path between it and the wall or it and the turret making skill shots essentially guaranteed. - Trundle's passive healing is fairly unique and very powerful allowing him to snowball team fights off the health gain. This also has interaction with his W increasing health gain and providing the interaction with W that you were asking for with his kit. Keep up the good work and something that might be interesting to look into with these low popularity champions is taking a look at their item builds with the new shop. I fully believe that a large number of these champions are not building correctly because there is no cult following playing hundreds of thousands of games to test consistency. Trundle for example his most popular mythic is Frostfire Gauntlet with 2500 games this patch but I dont think that does much for him where as Stridebreaker offers him much more but is only built in 500 games. Incorrect builds can easily compound the inconsistency issue you mentioned in the video and cause players to not play him.

I appreciate the feedback. Yes it did sound like I was beating a dead horse with that, but please understand that WNOP is not my personal take on the champion, not entirely anyway. It's based on how the community (those who DON'T play Trundle) feels about him. Many simply believe he's just too uninteresting, and his reliance on the meta makes him largely inconsistent. As you said, he's really strong in either long range poke metas or tank metas. But back to the "boring" clause, it's largely why people don't play him because it doesn't feel like he can do too much in a game, even if what he CAN do is strong. I think the reason people are taking frostfire is because you would usually build the old iceborn on trundle back in the day and they haven't adapted yet XD

Personally find Trundle incredibly fun, not in the micro sense but in the macro. He's so simple that instead of thinking about how I'm going to combo my opponent, I'm able to focus entirely on game plan and map awareness, something I usually struggle with. It's fucking satisfying when you manage to literally take every tower in the game because every single time the enemy team goes for a play you are chomping the shit out of a tower and stealing their entire jungle

Trundle was integral to my league experiece because he was a super easy jungler. Since jungle is probably the hardest role to learn, having someone who had no trouble killing camps and sustaining meant i could focus on watching the map and ganking lanes and obj without worrying about my hp.

I think there is a certain point though that not every champ needs to be reworked to have 6 dashes and 4d chess outplay potential. There is an appealing niche to having straight stat stick champs in a moba, and there are players who enjoy that kind of playstyle. Once in a while it's good to have champions with very straightforward gameplans and micro plays, because it incentivizes improving macro play instead (of which most of us could stand to be better at). And with the way trundle is designed, he really doesn't need much to be successful, he just needs small adjustments here and there, like a singed style change where his W interacts in some form with his E. (E.g. making E stun/root if it is summoned inside W) Trundle's other niche appeal is also as a counter pick, and again, it's also just good for the health of a moba to have meta-agnostic champs; a full rework will likely take that away from him.

Besides i think he looks pretty good for an old champion, maybe he needs some detail work but no full overhaul. Yo, Trundle enthusiast here. The reason he is so fun to me is because he has imo the best splitpushing power in the entire game through all stages of the game (maybe yorick is better but not by much imo). The fact that you can get so huge and push so fast it can lead to situations where you completely ignore the enemy top trying to kill you while you mow down an inibh turret. The biggest reason I think people don't play him much aside from some of that things you said is that 90% of the people don't know how to build him, they think it's a smart play going tank items but there is 0 necessity for it since you get tanky with your ult (even if you ult squishies), so people build that way, get rekt or get bored because altough they can't die, they also can't kill. Another reason I like trundle is because he is so liniear, he requires alot of macro knowledge so it ends up being way more satisfying gettings win on him than some meta pick.

Trundle excels at one thing and that is smashing tanks to death period. He is the best most consistent champ at beating tanks. All these kids that wanna do flashy plays smashing their head against their keyboard and calling it cool but cry when a tank isn't one shotted by their amazing-insec-autocancel combos can just pick this guy.But yea it's season 11 and league is all about who has more movement speed and more dashes in his kit. Yea new champs are cool and shit but there is a beauty in the old simpler champions because even though linear their role is defined you have a purpose in the team more strategic. While newer champions are more complex they are mostly oriented towards power creeping often bypassing any kind of predefined rule or strategy just to look cool and win the game in the process due to broken mechanics. Champions like mundo that people now call stat checkers wtf does this even mean ? That you have to play around him more patiently and you can't one shot him for your KZbin compilation that is a bad thing and boring apparently everything has to be fast....

Unfortunately, people are impatient nowadays. The life itself seems to go a bit faster because of the speed of receiving information, which makes people want speed. Most of players are also feeling better when doing something by themselves, being the dirving force behind your team's success, not being the supportive person or being reliant on others. The game itself is a bit faster, further exposing that need for speed and flashiness, because most of the flashy champs are usually going with that notion.

Trundle is somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me he's simple and it's oddly relaxing watching your champ hit things with a club, my issue why I don't play him more is around mid game you can get really tanky but that's about it your damage really falls off and whilst it's fun watching tanks panic as their suddenly not as tanky as they thought they were your just sat there with no cc or anything just being a meat shield as you threaten no one with your damage. If your looking for a suggestion on improving gameplay form me, I'd just give his kit more interaction with itself, like giving the pillar a wider range when stacking in frozen domain and a stacking slow which adds a debuff after 2/3 of being affected by it which then stuns them for a second or two should trundle attack them which would help him land damage much better in teamfights and also make his ganks early much more consistent.

I'm late and I play mostly aram(which is another beast I know) but MAN do I love getting Trundle and just bonking people in the face. He is simple and that's the charm. You walk up to people and smack them so hard they get back in time with the headache. I can think of 3 or 4 situations people disregarded me just to get melted in a moment by a R+W+Q. Making people acknowledge you and start respecting you is immensely fun and the "new and shinning" champs with their billion tricks can't do that in the Trundle, Renek and other rather "underestimated" champs do(Renek not so much, but I guess you understand my point).

I disagree with the rework idea because Trundle is already good at what he does and also some people just want to bash enemy champs senseless with just basic attacks. Adding more "skillful play" in his kit is just removing his core identity. Also there are far too many champs with gimmicks sometimes a game just needs a simple powerhouse who relies more on macro instead of micro.

As a somewhat frequent Trundle player I'd like to share some toughts. I like him becouse he's simple. So simple anyone could just pick him up when needed. Aside from that , he can be extremely powerfull if played right and the situation fits him. Let's say the enemy rolls 3 tanks , I instapick him. When Voli was new and everyone played him I used Trundle to shut them down. He can totally solocarry just by shutting down tankier enemies. These are the reasons of his unpopularity... he's extremely situational and simple. Even if you obliterate the enemy team you jsut bonk them to death , he's not flashy or someone who will do the most impressive looking outplays. However it is appealing for me to dispatch a juiced up tank and deny movement with pillar.

To be fair Trundle got Slow like nunu. (his pilar slow and if I recall at less back in the day it was like a crazy high Slow) His probleme is likely to be ppl whit dash that can just not care about his pilar being in the way. (Any way back in the day that was the most annying parth of hism ... Whene ppl could just be like I don't know tristana and just up the pilar and you just end up ... a sad troll.) Note I don't know if they made alot more ppl able to jump the pillar but if they did I could see him being less interesting since his niche is fucking whit the terrain to get adventage (if doing so help the enemie team more than trundle than...)

I don't think trundle is boring at all, I have so much fun playing him. playing trundle is like playing quinn, playing the map and making their top lane turrets go bye bye in 2 minutes. Theres a satisfaction of yelling oongaboonga and running people down. In ranked, i dont take him in team fights cause its a stupid idea, its not what he's meant for. He's meant to hunt down people (aka his e and w) and chomp turrets. I dont think you can just say that the champion is boring (from a subjective standpoint of course).

At this point, pls don't make new video just because % play drop. Champ just been nerf, not out date or the play style don't work. Some really don't fit the game anymore, but when you make video for every champ, it can't be more wrong.

I know this videos are more on the gameplay side, but a way riot could rework trundle is making him more similar to other kings in the game, i mean his title is the troll king, but nothing in his gameplay gives that sensation, he doesn't have soldiers like azir, he can't buff his team like jarvan, and the only parts of his kit that make it feel like he is a king are the name of his skills, and when he ults and chomps and enemy and even that is more like he is taxing the enemy stats. Riot should make the W of trundle more intimidating and, just like you said in the video, make his W and E interact between them, since his W should be his "kingdom", trundle W could be changed so that if he uses his E inside the buff zone, the pillar changes into a statue of himself, buffing trundle and his allies even more, or putting new debuffs on his enemies, making it feel unfair having to fight trundle in his chosen space.

My objectif of fun as playing trundle alot its. If you got to base once i wil bite an smash the living hell out of your tower almost taking it fully with a damage build in one go What makes it fun for me to play trundle is the he is the kind of champ that two of us comes in but only one of us wil walk out alive and if you think about buffing yourself up during a fight im gonna make you regret it for doing that in my domain

at 7:40 when you say trundle hasn't had changes to his abilities in the past decade: this is false, but only by about two years. When he was restyled in 2013 from a leprous jungle troll to an ice troll, they changed his all of his active spells in near-fundamental ways. His e's knockup box was increased so that the knockup (which was initially unintended) could be landed more consistently and used to break channels. his e also used to give vision like a temporary ward. His q was given a slow and made to be usable on towers. previously if you used q while hitting a tower it would reset the autoattack, but not consume the on-hit effect so Trundle's AD would remain the same until he hit a valid target within 4 seconds. They also slowed down the animation of his Q by a lot then tied the wind up to attack speed, making it really frustrating to use as an aa-reset until you have sufficient attack speed. and his R was changed from a flat amount with a 120% AP ratio to being %HP and increased the buff duration while reducing the drain duration (previously they were both 6 seconds). finally, his W (in my opinion the most important and damaging change) no longer gives crowd control reductin/tenacity and instead boosts healing. This was huge and the main reason i stopped playing him as my main. I played Trundle almost exclusively from the time of his release in late-2010 until his rework in mid-2013. in all that time he only had been balanced a single time, so the rework was a massive shock to the system for me and other Trundle mains at the time. Also, i liked his old laugh, dance, and run animations. I want them all back!

I love Trundle he was my love child champ just to tell you how good I was with him. I master his Ice pillar being able to perfectly landing it between the champion and pinning them to the wall. It use to be able to bug out the enemy champ making them in a semi stun state that stop them from using all movement ability. However, they fix and now he just a giant stat stick champ.

Trundle has a great clear speed and arguably the best sustain in the game as a jungler. He is *better* against tanks, but can also destroy squishies with ease. He can outduel anyone, solo objectives, splitpush like a boss. Honesty, Ice Pillar is the only real 'skill' he has because he needs nothing else.
