We are going to go over the 5 star character Jade, her kit and her short comings when it comes to what she provides and what she falls flat on in regards to her kit. Jade is our brand new 5 star in version 2.3 in honkai star rail and she has fallen into the same curse most erudition units fall into which is a pure fiction bot. We are going to go over all aspects of jades kit and why her value isn't as high as we would want it to be!

I disagree whith this take overall, I think Jade has a really good value but is also pretty much future proof. I feel like meta players have this weird bias where they make it seem like MOC is the most "relevant" endgame mode somehow; even though it gives just as many rewards and MOC is probably the easyest endgame mode of the 3, given how forgiving the 10 cycles system is and how effortlless it is to brute force with a lot of characters. It would benefit any account to have the indisputed best in a specific endgame mode, which is what Jade is for PF, because you're always going to be able to rely on the character to perform and carry even if the devs decides to not bring up ice and fire weaknesses for example. The fact that she takes the spot of a support gives you more flexibility and options to choose from for the other team, and the way that she can work as a hypercarry or can synergize with any aoe dps (Blade, Herta, Himeko, JingYuan, Qingque, Kafka, Sampo, Argenti, Misha...) makes her a character that you can get very creative with (which is more important to a lot of people than raw damage numbers) - which also means that she's going to age like fine wine, kinda like Topaz for single target FuA. IMO jade is a very good pick up for people who can already clear endgame and people who struggle with Pure fiction but not a priority for people who struggle with other endgame modes.

Yet characters like FF and Acheron exist who on the right teams can literally Destroy all 3 modes not just one like Jade who needs E1+ busted supports to be relevant anywhere else. As for your list of characters buffed by her Non are relevant in all 3 modes and the few that are somewhat Won’t use her I.E JY for example he wants the HC team to see his full power not Jade. And let’s not pretend they aren’t going to release a new harmony unit at some point that is going to be AOE focused and when that happens Jade is literally Dead.

As for me, i don't struggle with PF with just using DoT, Follow up, Break and Acheron team so i just don't see value from Jade that can change my account.

@@XenonDante welp if Jade is Mid as a DPS outside of PF that’s alrdy one strike, Now imagine if they release one more Harmony unit that gives multiple buffs including one that scales off of AoE be it the number of opponents or enemies hit. Now say you have JY who’s one of the Few Erudition characters useful outside of PF now would you use Jade on this team or this new Harmony that buffs his Damage more and prb has another support be it SPD, AF, Energy R etc… And there’s the problem with Jade her value right now is already bad enough especially with that banner, now imagine when a dedicated support character eventually comes out for the path then what’s the point of Jade? Is even in PF Acheron going to auto 40K starting next patch with Jai’s release so even in there Jade isn’t needed.

NGL I struggle to get the last star in pf and I max moc and ap , so that's a reason to pull her, some of my other reasons are because i am a proud Blade main, I like her kit , she is flexible and can be used in 2 of endgame content although her moc performance isn't the best she is still fairly decent and she is amazing in pf and I still don't know why people think moc is the best way to test characters especially when moc always has one buff that only the future character's archetype can take advantage of it will in ap and pf , there are other buffs that help characters that don't follow that archetype , making it relatively easier with our stable pf cast like herta , hemiko , jingyuan , clara, arginti and jade

I've been playing for 1 year & still no Himeko (I picked Bronya for selector). I'm just glad that I can guarantee an Erudition character to have an easier time with Pure Fiction. I'd like to see a character that can summon a dummy that you can attack to deal damage to the enemy. This way Erudition character will have a bit of an easier time (idk how it would work against enemies with 5 targets though, like Sunday Bossfight)

I want an erudition follow up unit in every element. Jade is another for my collection and enables me to run double elemental teams with Robin/Ruan Mei and Herta, Clara, Jing Yuan or Himeko.

I full dove into the follow ups. Their kits and designs have just been more attractive to me so I don't have power house units like Blade, JingLiu, DHIL, BS, Acheron or Firefly. I also don't have SW, Sparkle or Seele so I don't have much vs Quantum. Because of this she does add value to my account and I have enjoyed using her so far. She lived up to her character though, full 90 pity only to lose 50/50 then made me deep into pity again for her guarantee. After a day of reflection she did give me her LC at 4.

I can struggle to get that final star in PF and I like Jade's vibe. However, the 4 star line-up just killed any desire to pull for her. If I lost 50/50 it would feel like a complete waste to get cons on characters I never use. I'll keep saving and keep an eye on the upcoming physical and fire characters. May skip them too. It feels refreshing to be in a position with little fomo and already having 3 functional teams (with a mostly functional 4th, but janky). I need Kafka (likely she won't rerun until next year though) but that's about it. I'm going dragon mode and hoarding them gems 🤣

I don't care about min maxing - sure I dolphin my Follow uppers to E1 S1 but thanks to her, I'm not safe to wait for Screwllum and Rappa and just optimise my characters relics in the meantime. She honestly brought my desire to play Jingliu back (I hated Jingliu), she goes well with Blade, and Now I'm even aspiring to farm 4 piece eagle for Crit hyper speed Pela. I skipped Firefly because I love FUA and figured Jade would be better for my account. While I don't have Jade yet, I'm feeling some regret for missing out of Firefly; I had my mind set up too early I suppose, and missed the hype/discussion about Firefly being bonkers. I also like FF's design more, so I maybe shoulda gone with her. While Jade would likely be able to propel me into easy PF clears, I really wonder if I should just hold onto my rolls for now. I do have a lot of team-options for her (Blade, JY, Himeko, Herta, Clara) so she would likely still be pretty good, but I dunno. I also keep missing out on the big damage characters, so maybe my judgement isn't the greatest on it anyway. Regarding Jade's damage, I kinda disagree. She isn't supposed to be one of those "big huge DPS" characters. In the Trial she was hitting ~80-100k quite frequently for me; I'd be plenty happy with that from a sub-dps/support hybrid character.

Jade is fine even at E0. After watching a KZbinr 0 cycle MoC with E0 Jade, I will no longer be listening to folks saying she can’t clear all content. I almost missed out on this girl. I also can’t wait for them to put more characters that work with her which the will. Same thing they did to topaz. This game is all about what supports you have and relics. Supports are so broken that any characters can beat content.

I wouldn't say I was hyped for her, but I was at 65 pity and she is a great looking waifu, so I pulled her. I don't regret it and don't really care if I barely ever use her. She will be a nice addition for Pure Fiction runs, and either way it's still fun to just try out new and interesting teams no matter how meta they are. I'll get use out of her over time and have fun doing it. Plus I have absolutely no interest in the next patch characters, so she is more valuable to me just due to liking her design more than the next 2 limited units.

Jade feels like a subdps that covers a really good element. However I really wished she had a elemental implant like other recent characters to make her a lot better. Give implant = More breaks = More Himeko talent procs.

I only started using Himeko but I just put her on a sustainless FF team. I don't even know how people use her anywhere else. It takes way too long to break characters on a normal non super break team.

I think if I didn't have Argenti or Himeko, or if I struggled with Pure Fiction, then I'd want to pull her more. But I don't. I do think her gameplay is fun. I love FuA characters. I think she'd be interesting to use together with Blade. And it might be nice to have a true quantum AoE character (Qingque might be erudition but of course she feels more like destruction in disguise). But none of those things feel like they'll actually provide very high of impact to my account, which is really too bad. I'll probably try to grab her during a rerun if possible. I'm more interested in Jiaoqiu (Pela is getting to be one of those fought over characters for me). There's also rumors that Black Swan might rerun. I have her, but I'd like to pick up her LC for her if I can since I get so much use out of her and it would be a nice performance bump.

She is in a similar situation with Kafka, the people that want her are very vocal about wanting to pull her for "waifu material" over meta but when you actually look at the banner sales, they don't do all that well. Most of em are the loud minority. Kafka is at least the best DOT enabler in the game though.

Jade fills the exact same niche as Blade: an SP-positive DPS character that only works well in dual DPS teams Unless the devs release a Harmony version of DHIL (the more SP you use the stronger the buff), Jade and Blade will remain forever mid. With that said, even though I skipped Blade because I didn't need the niche he fulfilled, I still pulled for Jade because GAAAAWD DAAAAMN.

Himeko is great in moc, what the hell are you saying?! Her superbreak team is even one of the most popular teams for the 2nd side of the current moc. About Jade tho, if you want her to be viable in moc, that's what her e1 is for. Now don't get me wrong, even as someone who did go for her e1, it really sucks that they had to lock her viability outside of pf behind an eidolon while every other 5* erudition can deal good damage even outside of pf, but that's the sad truth we have to live with.

sadge - what my take is that banner sales overexaggerate the variance of whether people are pulling / actually playing because maybe the char is a solid pickup at E0 with 4 star weapons to round out overall account strength but that can be filled by regular income of free jades and doesn't justify going all out with credit card huge sales usually mean a confluence of meta / lore / hype / waifu / husbando and not having a combo punch doesn't mean it's not a good character or not relevant meta wise case in point: Fu Xuan. She was extremely (and is still pretty good) at sustain slot but her sales were lacklustre because in the first banner E0 was fine and on rerun there were better options such as Aventurine.

Already placed a comment on this video about pulling her earlier, but wanted to add another message. If you like a character, they are worth pulling. It doesn't matter if they are meta or not. People still clear a lot of the endgame content still using standard units and 4 stars, it really doesn't matter if a new character is meta or not. So long as they are fun to you or you like them as a character, they are worth pulling, period. Personally I like when new characters drop and aren't overly powerful, not every new unit needs to be the strongest character ever. Just have fun with the game and stop worrying about meta in a PVE and story focused game that isn't even that difficult in the first place

Exactly. I noticed HSR releases usually stronger character in phase 1 and weaker in phase 2. Phase 1 characters usually get dedicated artifact/ornament sets, which P2 characters like Jade don't get that benefit. This was true for Jade/Boothil/Dr.Ratio/Argenti/Topaz/Adventurine(vs Acheron). Probably Sparkle is exception on same power level as Black Swan. That's actually fine. By not having all characters being overpowered F2P/low spenders have easier time skipping character and just getting what they need/like. Jade can be good choice for people missing Himeko and Argenti / having god tier farmed quantum sets.

@JayDamaso78 While that's certainly valid, I still think my opinion had merit too. Especially since value and performance can be subjective to each person depending on their account and preferred play styles. If you like a character enough to pull them, you can build them and make them effective regardless of how meta they normally would be. Outright telling people not to pull on a banner isn't a great take, maybe that unit was the exact thing a player needed to complete a team comp they are working on. Or maybe the story or design of the character ends up being their favorite. Too many reasons exist that make every single banner worthwhile to people for different reasons. To completely say a unit has no merit because they aren't the top of the meta is not valid. You can state why you wouldn't pull or where you think they place on a tier list, but telling people a unit has no value to pull is a subjective take being worded in an objective format and makes it invalidated.

Pulling gives you kit, enjoy the character in story an images, nothing stops admiring design without spending jades.

JQ isn't even an upgrade to Pela. He is a sidegrade for E0 Acheron teams, and bad on any Kafka team. He even has worse multipliers than Gwen. And Yunli is just Clara 2.0. She's a sidegrade and the real upgrade is her LC. If you have a built Clara, you profit far more simply from pulling the cracked LC. The upcoming characters are intentionally mediocre (just like Jade) because Mihoyo wants to pump ZZZ initial sales.

E6 Jade hits hard and often for me. She will do insane damage on a quantum team with Silver Wolf to add Q-weakness. Seele can go often stacking fast while Fu Xuan tanks. But really I pulled for her because I want more sexy designs like that.

The whole game is easy. Current Moc is entirely laughable, one minute in and out, here's your 800 jades. Only high levels of SU are somewhat hard and because of blessing rng at that. The point is to have fun. And how you get to it is entirely up to you, be it from one shoting something or from a beautiful follow up sequence. P. S. "One character fits all" is shit game design to begin with, the problem isn't in a specialized character, the problem is overpowered generalist characters. We strictly don't NEED any more characters than Acheron + Firefly and 6 supports for them, as 2 teams they can clear every mod for 800 easily. And it's bad.

Jade for me is in really strange spot. She fights for a place in a FUA team where you have sustain + Robin + 2 FUA DPS. In single target Topaz+Ratio are best, in AOE Himeko+Herta are great. Then we have QQ and robot girl for quantum AOE, who works pretty well.

I mean. Acheron sucks ass in this PF. It's not even good. Jade is a cool character, I would like to have her on my account but her issue is... She is right after Ruan Mei and Firefly. And we just don't have "jades" tadam tsss. Anyway. She is only PF character and no one really cares about PF. Especially now when it's only 1 every 6 weeks. If we would not 12* PF NO ONE cares. Losing 60 jades is nothing. If you don't have Clara, Argenti, Boothill... Yunli is just a way better choice.

@@nikonFB1988 she is a hybrid support sub dps. She buffs your main while still doing good dmg herself. If you have robin ruan mei and xueyi you will see how strong she is. To answer your question tho the supportive side of her is why she will age well when a new super dps drops if they lack speed or if they combo with follow ups or if they need a life drain she will age well cause she will work with them.
