I really loved the oart of this where you explained your skill comp ethos. I was always viewing it from a less grounded view of like, the competition is meant to reflect the common training style of parkour athletes. Which would include flip pres and reverse pres and the like, but I was surprised to find that I like your version a lot. SPL skill is a really attractive packaging of trad parkour.

Great discussion! I absolutely love speed courses. Finding "the fastest way" through the course is such an interesting process, it's like a puzzle. Really appreciate your ethos of skill and speed comps, all the points make complete sense to me, I'll definitely share some of these ideas with my local community. Would love to hear some more on your approach to style comps, particularly the judging system. We are currently using modified FIG system and it is just so lame most of the time. Pretty much all the runs look very formulaic and bland with huge stretches of "dead" movement where nothing particularly interesting happens. I mean it is great to have a completely objective system but the runs that system generates are so ugly and unfocused it bores me to death

I absolutely LOVE speed!!!…but then I’m about as far away as you can get from the typical parkour demographic. It’s the most dynamic for me to watch, and the lines you guys do in SPL are usually really interesting-for the reasons you mention. Skills are also nail-bitingly intense to watch (when athletes don’t take forever to get going) You do floor-is-lava in some of your open comps. Spring floor ones are the most successful I think

I would like to see Jaco Tombolini get a full stab at competition, unfortunate he was a day late for the Hall 5 comp last year!
