Stephanie Winn is the absolute highest quality therapist one could hope to have for ANY issue....but she is a true champion for the ethical treatment for gender confused youth. She is so very articulate in her explanation for what should constitute real therapy for gender confused youth in order to help them...not harm them. I hope these legislators accept her offer to work with them on appropriate language for their bill.....hope they understand what she is advocating for .

In case there is a chance this video is showing up differently for different viewers: There is a "context" box beneath the video but the source of the supposed contextual information is the Trevor Project, which cannot provide impartial contextual information as it is an organization that advocates a very specific position on the issue in question. So KZbin is NOT providing context (despite labeling the text as such) but promoting a specific perspective. It's the other way around, in fact. The testimonies provide salient contextual information to consider the position of the Trevor Project.

Huh? This woman is arguing for reasonable exploratory therapy OVER affirmation and unquestioningly yolking trans kids to the transition train. She distinguishing the conversion therapy of the last millennia from the false claims that merely exploring the psychological development of ROGD in a patient with talk therapy is synonymous with conversion therapy. It’s not. Conversion therapy uses physical conditioning to change someone’s behavior. There’s plenty of context to discern all that here

I think that the term "conversion therapy" for GENDER-questioning people, is an Orwellian mísnomer of the highest degree in its current usage. As is discussed in the video, this old-term-in-a-new-context takes an unjustified piggyback ride on all insights and emotions about the "classical" term, which applies to homo-SEX-uality. The áctual, irreversibly damaging, conversion therapy is done by the practitioners of Gender Affirming "Care". In their hubris, they try to convert bodies, and they fail.

12:10 Conversion therapy for homosexuality simply isn’t scientific it’s not a matter of “individual right” it’s just that it’s empirically flawed and to perform such pseudo practice is a waste of time and any person who Pursues it is misguided and that’s where the therapist comes in to challenge their misbelief with knowledge of the evidence there’s no reason for sexual orientation conversion therapy to be legal unless of course you wanna be like the gender cultist and disregard the medical rule of “do no harm” 11:30 Yes there is no gay gene but guess what ? there’s no such thing as a “sexual orientation” gene in general no matter which sexual orientation it is but rather a multitude of genes that play a role in determining such ; in biology sexual orientation is known as a polygenic trait the same thing that determines other things like height skin and eye color etc. I assume this person didn’t read beyond the headlines of the varies “gay gene” papers that were posted years back when they were released but that paper is constantly falsely weaponize by cunning homophobes who always use it as a “gotcha” to further their agenda Sides note : notice how he conflated and coupled transgenderism with homosexuality as if their somehow in the same ballpark when they really are not yea pretty biased alright

@@sometherapist I will say this in my personal opinion I think it’s very detrimental to the laws you all wish to pass for others to insert pro gay conversion therapy ideas into the conversion of the legalization of therapy for gender dysphoric people cause it might confuse and make many of the senates or whatever their called from which your testifying to to delegitimize your position and not pass since I assume many of them are pro gay and pro gender non conformity and already have preexisting notions of other people like you advocating therapy for gender dysphoria (A Misconception fed to them by the cultist) To be equivalent to those advocating for gay conversion therapy

I agree, and I will offer a perspective rarely hear in regards to this issue. In 1973 homosexuality and 1976 bisexuality was taken from the DSM as a mental illness. In 1979 Vivian Cass created gay affirmative care called the Cass model. The Cass model considered bisexuality as a phase. And no matter how much the bisexual population demanded the model to change they would not. It took 36 years for the Cass model to change. During the same era gay conversion therapists were using bisexual people as proof. But ironically both models were harming the bisexual population. I see gender affirmative care similarly, as transgender activists and those who taken that position are refusing to see the exceptions. What they are doing is projecting themselves onto all cases. Just as the gay movement projected themselves onto anyone who said they were bisexual and called them liars and promoted a model that harmed thousands upon thousands of people. Both “affirmative” care models and conversion therapy has a preconceived identity for the client before they even walked into the room. Gender affirmative care is similar to conversion therapy. A neutral model is needed and one that prevents surgery but accepts a multitude of conclusions not one prescribed.
