Why Nova Scotia's Arctic surf clams are such a big hit in Japan | We Are The Best

You may not be familiar with the Arctic surf clam, but Canada, specifically Bedford, N.S., is home to the world's biggest fishery. The Clearwater processing plant harvests the mollusk miles offshore, where the ocean is deep and clean. The clam is then quickly processed and graded before being shipped around the world. Approximately 98 per cent heads to Asia for the sushi and sashimi markets.

Seriously, I think you could expand your presence in the Canadian market. Selling these frozen Artic surf clams would be a hit product in any grocery store. I've never seen your product in Montreal but I'm sure that people will positively respond to your product.

you can find them at Asian grocery stores like Kim Phat, C&T, Sheng Tai, etc.

Here it looks like only the foot of the clam is used. Is the rest of the clam meat being thrown out and wasted or used for clam chowder etc?

Lmao.. That is not Nova Scotia CBC.. As you can see the boat was going out of the Narrows in St. John's.. Also the Clams gets processed on the boat and brought to Argentia freezers in Placentia Newfoundland. Clear Water is a Nova Scotia company but they operate in Newfoundland.. Get your facts straight b'y
