Just wait. Wano Arc's quality is still progressively increasing. For example, CH 1032 & 1033, which were intense and dark; not to mention most of the epic 1020s. My bet is that ~1040-ish is peak animated Wano.

Episode 1015 instantly because my favorite episode of all time. The punch was amazing but to be completely honest it was the flash backs with Ace and Yamato that really made it for me. The changing of style when Yamato is "seeing" Luffy and them as kids looked gorgeous. The way they managed to pack so much character development for a dead character in such a short period of time AND pull it off masterfully was astonishing to see. And not to mention several shots in that one episode that could be crowned "Best looking scene of the year" be it Luffy punching Kaido, Ace turning back on his raft/board when he was saying bye to Yamato, Or the aforementioned flashback where Yamato "sees" them as kids. All of them are genuine contenders for best animated scene in my books.

I didn't like it as much as Dressrosa, I had a harder time relating to the new characters and caring about their struggles... @@hhhfdsfsI'm just saying that the trope is a bit overused and outdated, like "true love's kiss" or "the bad guys are nazis"... For example, if the beast pirates had built a dam or rerouted a river, and one of the missions of the fight was to destroy that dam, the whole "everything goes back to normal" would be a natural result of the war Just an idea, I'm sure there's a better way to tie the narrative elements together

I understand being skeptical. This One Piece adaptation _could_ suck. _Any_ project could suck, but so many people act like it's just all around a bad idea just because it's based on an anime, and I think that is so closeminded. You have no problem with comic book movies, but manga is where you draw the line, for some reason, that you probably don't even know. It amazes me that people say that Hollywood is out of ideas, but lack the imagination to imagine how a live action anime adaptation could work. Saying that Netflix doesn't deserve another chance to get it right is like saying that DC didn't deserve another chance at Batman after Batman and Robin, and if people back then listened to the fans and gave up because of pessimism, then we never would have gotten The Dark Knight trilogy. I'm not saying people should be jumping for joy with excitement for it, like I am. I just think people should understand that a live action anime adaptation isn't inherently a bad idea, and they don't _have_ to suck, and that people should be at least open to the idea that this _could_ work. If you're gonna be a doomsayer, nothing you say is gonna stop this from being made, so the least you could do, as a fan, is give it some support.
@johnsidney41472 жыл бұрын
See, it's that mentality that makes me sad. Just how low are people lowering their expectations, and how low do they have to be for this show to meet them? I can't blame anyone for feeling this way, because of past misfires, but people act like there has never been a good anime adaptation ever. The 2018 Bleach movie was good. This isn't rocket science. Making a good live action One Piece adaptation isn't that hard. People look at it as an anime adaptation, and tell themselves that this is impossible. However, I look at it as a pirate show, and there's evidence of pirate stuff working, like Pirates Of The Caribbean, Black Sails, and even Gokaiger, if you know anything about Super Sentai. Everything about the marketing, the production, and the casting seems to suggest that these people might be putting actual effort into this, and that's why I'm excited for this.
@YetiCoolBrother2 жыл бұрын
Dog, you and I both know One Piece is entirely too over the top for a live action series to be even close to good unless they got the MCU's CGI team on the job along with an Endgame level budget. As soon as Logias get introduced it's a wrap, I have a feeling Arlong will look dumb as well.
@johnsidney41472 жыл бұрын
@@YetiCoolBrother But this show _is_ gonna have a huge budget. It's gonna be $10 mil per episode, which is the same for Game of Thrones. They're building the ships. They're building Baratie. What more could you want? And even if Arlong doesn't look good, if the character is good, and the performance from the actor is good, I can forgive it.

Wano has been a turning point for One Piece manga and anime. A lot of new people have started watching here. It also helps that we as a community don´t shame or anything people who have recently started, but we are actually escited for more people to join
@devilmikey002 жыл бұрын
I think the community more than others just knows what it's like to hop on board with years or decades of story to catch up on. It's kind a universal thing with one piece that all fans can relate to. I started watching in 2010/2011 and even back then I had like 500 episodes/600 chapters to catch up on. Very very few people don't have that experience so when someone new catches the one piece bug, we can all relate and there's no shame.

I used to be an anime only until Dressrosa. The pacing and animation were at an all-time low and by mid-Whole Cake Island I had dropped the anime completely and was only reading the manga. But the changes made to the anime for Wano brought me back. And while it still has issues, the highs are the highest the anime has ever reached. I never thought I would see the day when I'd enjoy parts of the One Piece anime more than their manga counterparts. I can't wait for that final battle to be animated!

As someone who dipped out of the anime during dressrosa and hasn't come back, I've been seeing a lot of clips lately from wano and when the hell did the show start looking so good? There was a long time where the show honestly looked awful, fish man island sticks out hard here. Entire bits with nigh on unfinished art and ton of scenes where it really was just moving lip flaps and nothing else. It seems Toei has gone all out during wano and especially this final battle. It looks insanely good.

For the adaption, it won't be hard to cut out the fluff. One piece is the only series I know of where you could cut away multiple entrie arcs and not loose anything that you couldn't easily write back into the story in another arc. The very formula of the show is designed to be filler. New island full of new characters that will likely never matter again, there only to burn time. Split the crew up into four or more groups and switch back and forth between them to justify as much of a snail pase as possible. There are lots of thungs I adore about one piece, but its pacing and structure make it unwatchable. And Luffy's motivation is nonsense. The very premise of the show that everyone wants to be pirate king and find the one piece makes no sense, since no one knows what the one piece is or what being pirate king means. It is never explained why Luffy wants it. Oda chose mystery over character development.
@liamtreat51942 жыл бұрын
Luffy wants to be pirate king because he thinks it will make him the freest man on the sea. He explicitly said that, and finding the one piece is just how he does it. He doesn’t actually care what the one piece is, just that finding it makes him pirate king. Every arc has at least one character or plot point that comes back later. You could condense things but the appeal of the story is adventure and you’d be cutting out alot of the adventure.
@LamirLakantry2 жыл бұрын
@@liamtreat5194 That goal seems fine, but how did he reach the conclusion that pirate king means freedom. It is never explained what being the pirate king means or what the one piece is or how it makes someone king. The age of pirates was kicked off by the announcement that some vague and unspecified treasure exists? Just seems like terrible writing to me. Regarding the meandering plot, adventure is all well and good, but at some point it just all becomes filler. Excusing the filler by pointing out that it occasionally worlldbuilds and sprinkles in a few recurring elements doesn't justify that the series has no direction. Have arcs matter. For example Skypea. I understand that there are some vague foreshadowing of Joy boy in there, but seriously, put that in another arc and you can delite that entire arc and not loose any plot from the story. Adventure is great, but have it matter. Character development. Plot progression. Anything.
@liamtreat51942 жыл бұрын
@@LamirLakantry for one, people do know what the pirate king means, there was one before. Luffy thinks that because gol d roger did want he wanted. Luffy has always been characterized as someone who doesn’t like being told what to do (and see his post-war flashback for why he dislikes the world government in particular). Also he said his ‘freest man in the sea’ line when he was talking to rayleigh, roger’s first mate, right after luffy stopped him from TELLING HIM WHAT THE ONE PIECE WAS. Luffy doesn’t give a damn about what the one piece is, just the finding it will prove that he is one of the biggest badasses on the planet. Also roger wasn’t the first pirate, he just started the golden age. Furthermore the one piece isn’t the only reason people are on the grand line, nami wants to map the world and the grand line is part of that, zoro wants to be the strongest swordsman and the strongest people are on the grand line, plus he is extremely loyal to luffy. As for the villians, crocodile wanted to conquer the world with pluton, big mom wants to create a kingdom with all races on it, kaido wants to start the biggest war ever. There is plenty of wealth, fame, power, and other things on the grand line than just the one piece that people want. As far as I can tell only luffy and blackbeard care that much about finding the one piece. As for the arcs, skypeia is the most ‘filler’ arc in the series basically every other arc has more to do with the main story, and skypeia was one arc, and an earlier one to. Also it actually does have character development, for Robin, as since she just joined after being an enemy, and the next arc, one of the most important in the series, requires the crew to care about her. She needed a full arc where she was part of the crew in between those two events for water 7 to work. Finally one piece brings back plot elements from previous arcs constantly you really don’t know what will suddenly be relevant again.
@liamtreat51942 жыл бұрын
Oh and Rayleigh said that the crew’s impressions of the one piece would be shaped by what they think of the world, so they kinda need to explore the world to know what it’s like.
@Travelling_Heart152 жыл бұрын
Dude, there are no fluff in one piece, almost every detail and info and character in the story was used to superb effect, and most of the characters are developed characters not all characters is a negative or positive character arc, most character in one piece is a flat character which is characters how change little by little and only have a somewhat huge change when there is a drastic impact on their life.
