If the 90% failure is true then the 90% really aren't traders - they're failing amateur gamblers. Trading is a business, why would anyone start a business without knowledge of the business.
@mattdoeland8 жыл бұрын
I agree with most of what you've said, however there aren't many occupations in which there is exclusively a 90% failure rate. Unless there is a consistency that repeats the consistent tried & true implementations - & rules, (which by the way have zero to do with fantastical goals) the failure rate will continue on from now until forever. My concern is that whilst ever the 90% believe the 'gurus' the 90% will remain failing.

Completely agree with the specializing. I started trading earlier this year (CFD) First i was trying to chase trends,didn't work. Then i decided to focus on tech, as i've been heavily interested into tech anyways, but it was usually that i made a lot on one trade, and then lost it on another. Now i'm focussing solely on 2 companies, which i'm swing trading, and this is finally paying of. I made about 1800% return of investment so far this year, so i'm doing pretty good now. So i'd say focus on 2/3 companies and read up on EVERY rumour, then trade based on that, and always keep an eye out for other potential fast growers, put them on your watch list and jump in once you feel comfortable with the stock.
@MrTruth1117 жыл бұрын
ab de, what you do is a different strategy, Big Bad Bandana has a working strategy for himself. And btw you are investing, and not trading. Having a specific strategy where you become the sole expert is always good. I am learning gap trading, it is very dangerous, but I love the fast action. Before that I had no strategy. The first stock I bought... NOTHING happend for a week, I sold it, and then it went up 200%. Then I bought a stock and it went down 20% the next day. You need a strategy. I would concider it a complete nightmare trying to manage 20 stocks. I have a watchlist with 10 stocks that I watch every hour and I buy the dips alongside my gaptrading the open.

Do not marry a stock but you can date 2 or 3 stocks as long as the benefits dont end.
@kingmike408 жыл бұрын
From what I have witnessed and done myself is that I and others allow losses to get too big. Cut losses fast, a few percentage points 3 to 5% and be patient with winners. Winners can become losses so set stop loss or watch closely. If you go set on the toilet for 5 minutes you might lose thousands. Set a number to sell at. If you decide on $400 daily profit than sell when a stock/option makes 400 in a day. I usually sell anything I have that makes me a double I might not sell all of the shares but I will sell 50 to 75 percent of anything that makes me a double. Especially if it happens on same day or the next day after the purchase. Don't listen to the talking heads on TV and most internet "experts" are dangerous to your wealth. I have been living off of my trades for almost 2 years. I don't have a formal education in trading or business. I was a crane operator and a truck driver and decided that there had to be something better for my life. I don't care about hitting the big numbers I have had weeks that I made 29,000 and months that I have lost 42,000. I started with 3500 trading options in 2006. Believe it or not this does get boring. So get a hobby.

Hej Mike, will you share with me where you self educated yourself to trade options? I am also interested in trading options and starting small. What would be the best advice you would give to someone who is just starting out to learn this trade ?
@kingmike408 жыл бұрын
I learned by doing. I looked up the basics and went from there. The market was better, a strong bull, when I started so that helped. The market now is more volatile. I put on a trade and I sell the same day or the next day. I used to hold options for a few days to a few weeks but not with this volatility. Get a cash account not an margin account. Margin accounts are controlled by pattern day trading rules.
@Stayler178 жыл бұрын
Why is the market volatile. Will it get worse and more complicated or is it just a wave of ups and down as years pass by?

The lens is that one person you are engaging with, just as a trend is your friend so is the lens. it would be good to see a tutorial video on how and why you actually pick a particular stock the things that you look for when choosing a stock, such as the fundamental analysis of choosing a stock. Keep up the excellent work. BTW have you considered transposing some of your tutorials into a audio podcast?

Aerohk just buy oversold stocks under $5 that have fallen considerably with an rsi that falls below the 30 line set that as your support. Wait for a bullish candle that engulfs a red candle. Set your stop loss below your support and sell 50% of your profits when it grows 4% and let the rest continue. Only trade when the market is green. It's really simple. You do that over and over again you'll become profitable.

Learn technical analysis. Study and spend a lot of time in front of your charts. Develop a strategy and practice it until you are winning most of the time. Charts are charts, and tech analysis overlaps different instruments. Stocks might be easiest, there is more volatility and less noticeable institutional influence. But until you decide, get that chart time in.
