i mean, technically in those stories it's a bit more different, and if you go on oxygen in hospitals, you still have to pay for it (if your insurance doesnt cover it) a few years before the pandemic (actually probably 6 years ago) i went on oxygen (with medication mist or whatever) for around an hour because i had a pretty serious cough or something. luckly my insurance paid for it (i live in canada)

The comparison doesn't work out that well because breathing is still free everywhere. It may be more correct to see this as a shortage of life-saving medicine since that's basically how the oxygen is used for the more severe covid cases. Healthy people and those with only light symptoms don't need it.

I agree it doesnt make sense for people to throw a tantrum for having to wear a mask, but I agree with those who have an issue with getting the vaccine. The vaccines were approved for emergancy use which bypasses the FDA's extensive 6 month - and sometimes longer - review period. Usually a Biologics Liscense Application or BLA is submitted and queued for trials by the FDA. But all of our covid vaccines have been issued EUA's or Emergency Use Authorizations. Essentially, instead of clinical trials, the FDA goes off of the findings of the company producing the vaccine to determine if it's good enough. Sure, the vaccines were good enough for most, but some people died from it and some of those people were healthy and not at risk. And it's not just this time, but with past EAU's such as the recent convalescent plasma and Plaquenil. I encourage people to argue with some supporting facts, not something you heard on CNN, Fox, Facebook, or any other corporation. I'm genuinely interested in the other parties argument.

For me, you don't know much, and I study epidemiology. We were to have a short lockdown, so we would get our infrastructure ready to prevent what Peru was going through. We were to move supplies gear up production to support the sick, create new beds find treatments, and develop tests. so we can give supportive treatment. Not cure the disease, but to prevent deaths. THe point was not to get rid of Covid, but to make sure the symptoms are suppress. People don't die just from having Covid, but from what it creates. Like Cytokine storms. We have some idea what to do, and if you look we gave them Hydroxychloroquine to reduce the immune response that creates the cytokine storms, and steroids to reduce the inflammation from it, and Z pak to prevent infections that might come afterwards. We gave Oxygen as for supportive cure. It was shear idiocy to wait for one year till we get a vacation. And now it's two years, and we are talking three. Do you want to know why. The virus mutates. THe people you trust lied. We knew it mutates, because the Italian variant that swept through New York. The vaccine manufacture did not make the vaccine to stop the virus. It was only made using the spikes. THe spikes are the area most likely to mutate. Notice what part of the virus mutate to create the Delta virus? The Vaccine is made more like the FLu, and next year, we have to deal with a new strain. It's actually worse than the flu vaccine. If you understand immunity, it's better to immunize using the whole virus rather than a part. You get better longer lasting immunity that would actually give you partial immunity to all the variants. The reason I think the spikes were used, is it gives early immunity. But if we have immunity to other parts it might not be early enough to stop getting sick, but gives us a head start fighting it.

People in my country who do not want to take the vaccine do not say that the vaccine is not effective against the virus, but because it has not been studied enough for the reaction it can cause in the body, I have an acquaintance who will not take it because she has one drug allergy history But it surprises me that people refuse to wear masks

@@yeyosilver7067 I worked in a place that I need a mask The regular surgical mask is only good for an hour or two. The problem is that after that, it gets moist, and won't filter, and we begin to touch our face . If you listen to half the medical professional, the mask is more likely to cause the person to get Covid, because it causes people to touch their face. But I am also in favor of a different route of treating this disease. I want to protect the vulnerable, but let the rest get the disease naturally. This would of gotten us to herd immunity faster. It is now doubtful , vaccine would ever get us herd immunity, and now the Icelandic chief epidemiologist has come out and stated that.

When you say that medical oxygen supply from hospitals is like taking water from a tap and people are buying bottles, you have to understand that buying a cylinder is the only option a person has who didn't get a hospital bed. When hospitals get overwhelmed you get people dying on the gates and in parking lots of the hospitals just waiting for a bed. Also for people isolating at home, which are a lot, oxygen concentrators or cylinders are the only options and both of them are easy to black market. Poor countries still have a long fight to go against Covid.

I see comments about having to pay for oxygen being unfair or dystopian... You are wrong, that's AIR not OXYGEN. if you understood what it takes to get oxygen, you'd understand why it has a price attached to it. You need a pressure vessel to contain it. It needs to be specific metal and highly inspected before it can be approved of use, because compressed gas tank failure is pretty traumatic. Because of costs to make it, most tanks are re-used until they fail, especially so in countries with few to little inspection requirements. I've seen a tank that was used in world war 2 still in use at the shop I work at. You need to run a cryogenic pump for HOURS to filter enough out of the air to fill a tank, and if you want it to go faster, that requires a specifically engineered custom designed cryogenic system to increase production. You need to use regulated high pressure parts to assemble the machine. You need people who know what they're doing to assemble that machine. You need dedicated personnel to run that machine, it can never be automatic, because auto-pressure/temp systems and switches fail regularly. This, and more, are reasons somebody needs to pay for it.

I'm from Bolivia and the situation is pretty similar here. It is so frustrating that our healthcare system does not count with liquid oxygen conected directly to hospitals.

In Mexico, the price of some oxygen tanks is around $ 4,000 usd. Many people had to sell their lands, cars, and furniture to pay for it. The government NEVER regularized the prices of medicines, oxygen tanks, and even funerals.
