They REALLLYYY get the infighting of the empire to a T… AND MUD TROOPERS AND CLONES ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!! Fucking beach troopers agin! I mean it’s just such a great adult starwars…

@@poil8351 I just love all of the variety and showing us what the empire ACTUALLY looked like instead of JUST storm troopers. We saw engineers here! We see loaders/movers! What’s next? Imperial janitors? It just accurately shows how a military/empire operates. I love seeing all the different organizations/departments/positions. And yeah the uniforms are impeccable…. I like how it’s not all cookie cutter. Although all militaries are extremely uniform, there is VAST differences between one soldiers uniform to another’s. Especially on campaign or posts far from the core. You don’t see marines in WW2 in the pacific all dressed exactly the same..

This episode seems like the best fan film ever made. No knock on Andor at all, it’s actually a compliment. Andor has gone on the agenda of telling it’s own story it’s own way. This makes the galaxy feel bigger, and makes you see the empire in a new way. One of the best scenes was the public transportation area where storm troopers were posted up intimidating citizens. You don’t think about how they can’t really aim their blasters, or that luke could take all of them out in 2 seconds, but instead you think about how terrifying and intimidating the empirical forces are and it shows the suppression of society under the empire.

idk, Mandalorian was a fanfilm series, same with Kenobi. I think there's a huge difference between giving what the audience wants, versus giving them something they didn't even know they wanted. I don't think anyone was expecting Andor, while Kenobi was extremely predictable in terms of just fan-appeal with low effort. Andor is providing a unique framing of the empirial-rebellion conflict, working on what Rogue One and Rebels did to a much larger degree. Which is the opposite of fan films that really focus on stuff like Boba Fett or Kenobi, fan-favourite characters and situations, Andor is kinda the reverse, it takes far smaller new characters and newer situations

Can you blame them after years of "meh" (at best) product? It's because of videos like this and people like Alan that perhaps they will try it out one night when they have nothing else to do and then watch the next episode due to enough interest from the previous episode. Recognizing that it's a different perspective on the Star Wars universe will take time and they'll still be wary of Lucasfilm products even if they eventually are wholly supportive of Andor.

Intelligence should keep commanders informed not the same as taking Command, its the organisational equivalent of a king's advisor who spends time in the library looking for what the boss needs before he needs it. It gets blurry though when it requires active operations to gain info for future active operations
@hypothalapotamus5293

The purpose of intelligence in a stable Western democracy is to keep commanders informed. This requires a highly functional society to work. To understand the ISB, it's probably easier to look at an unstable authoritarian regime. In the Soviet Union, the purpose of the NKVD in its various incarnations was to keep society under control, including the military. Their duties included putting ethnic minorities into death camps and purging competent officers from the red army, which occurred shortly before war with Germany.

@@dred9174 Assuming that the ISB is actually loyal goes against "setting up a secret police/intelligence agency in an authoritarian regime 101". If the emperor's attack dog is too strong, the emperor might serve at the pleasure of the praetorian guard and not the other way around (It took about 40 years for the Praetorian guard to be the greatest internal threat to the Roman emperor). It's a fine balancing act.

In Legends, specifically the books involving the Hand of Judgement stormtroopers, yes. It's why those men did what they did and still remained loyal to the Imperial people. The stuff the ISB did made them like the KGB and other internal "security" organizations. I'm sure there were other books that showcased the shady side of the ISB but not all were scummy. I've always take COMPNOR as essentially being the variation of the Nazi party. The Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) was the enforcement side of things and IIRC effectively had its own military units who were even more fanatical than Stormtroopers. They are the real SS units as compared to regular German Army in WWII. Beyond that they are off course the "political officer" in military units that you can probably still find today if/when there is any question of the loyalty of someone.

Sooooooo by a not too far leap of logic you could place many if not most deaths in the galactic civil war on the rebs. Certainly a certain beautiful blue orb floating in space of a certain princess would be humming along quite nicely if there wasn't a rebellion that needed a place to hide it's weapons of chaos and terro-- I mean "liberation" 😒

Honestly look a lot like victim blaming, in the latest Andor episode the entire oppression, corruption, and callouness of the Empire government is showed, for a little bank robbery they overreacted so wildly that they basically punish randomly people in a ridicolous way just to show who is the boss. In the end rebellion or not rebellion the only way to not be killed or imprisoned by the empire was to do always and quickly what they want, with a smile and a lot of bootlicking, never protest and accept everything and hoping to have luck because even do all things will not protect you if a random imperial officer have a bad day or imperial policies or internal infight dictate your demise ...and we can all agree that's not a system that can work in the long term

In fact, the Human/Ssi-Ruuvi war between their respective empires could be seen as the humans resisting and overthrowing indirect Ssi-Ruuvi rule when the Ssi-Ruuk decided to annex and eradicate and *then and only then* enslave the humans via "entechment", literally as close to Hell as it gets in concept, as slavery to them doesn't end with death- it begins there and doesn't end at all, it is eternal soul-labor as slaves for all of eternity... concept of Hell well-indeed. This uprising wasn't of Palpatine's making, but was various elements of the empire he ran rising up and laying waste to the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium based at Lwekk.

We all know that the Filoniverse is moving towards giving us some version of the Thrawn trilogy--that's obvious, for anyone that's paying attention--but are we seeing, in the person of Luthen Rael, the character of Garm Bel Iblis? 80 million credits might be able to overhaul a few old Dreadnought-class cruisers....

I wonder, do the Galactic Civil War truly ends at the Battle of Endor ? I always believe since the new Disney lore that the Civil War ends at the Battle of Jakku..?

Yeah, Jakku was the last battle (not counting remnants like what’s in _The Mandalorian_).

The ISB seems to have the same role in the Empire as the SD had within the SS in Nazi Germany.

More like the NKVD/KGB as the agency has both intelligence collecting and internal security duties plus the job to keep an eye to the military

The way that you describe the Situation is EXTREMELY reminiscent of the way things are working in OUR WORLD!🎃

It's reminiscent of Hitler depending on the SS to counter the German Wehrmacht / Military during WWII.

Study the Ghorman Massacre: he landed a Victory-class Star Destroyer on *top* of the rioters; this was the event that brought about the Rebel Alliance when they realized that the local and national government couldn't be trusted, but was out to abuse them. Study the real Star Wars storyline, yes including the novels, those from the Lucas Era; as those're the real canonical works, such as the Truce at Bakura for the beings that Palpatine was actually a vassal of, though nobody but he and their leadership knew anything really of the deal. This ironically includes a fifteen-year-old boy by the name of Dev Sibwarra, who worked with the Ssi-Ruuk as a form of a "deathscort", preparing people for their death *then* enslavement in that very order. And Dev was also the link between Palpatine and his alien "masters", much like how the Secret Order of the Emperor; the very faction that the Emperor's Hands are part of, was the link between the two factions.

ISB isn't the military. They're more law enforcement (like the FBI) and the military is its own thing. I'm sure there's crossover just like there is in the real world, but each has its own responsibilities.

I find it ironic at 8:20 . you said the republic built a society around individual freedom yet you showed clone troopers who were literally bred for war by the republic lol. Clone troopers literally had to go awol to have individual freedom. one thing we are learning about ANDOR and even "tales from the jedi" is the light side probably wasn't so bright from the beginning.
