It’s kinda strange when you think about the Star Wars timeline. Anakin was 19 when the clone wars started (I believe), so at the end of the war when he turned into Darth Vader, he was only 22 years old. So I’m the early years of the Empire (as portrayed in the Darth Vader comics and other forms of media). The scary brutal warrior known as Darth Vader is just a young man. Doesn’t mean much but I just find it an interesting point.

Because..... 1. The Jedi needed to trust the clones, from years of fighting together 2. The galaxy needed to hate the Jedi, 3 years of quite propaganda did that 3. Palpatine needed to grow more popular and powerful, over time the Senate gave him more power by rubber stamping all his bills 4. Palpatine needed control of the banks 5. The war blinded the Jedi from the approaching order 66. 6. The galaxy needed to be weakened and in chaos, so they would accept a strong man to bring peace. 7. Palpatine needed an excuse to put his personal military governors on each planet

Mohammad Salem His execution of 2. really makes no sense. How did Palpatine make propaganda against the Jedi without them finding out? The Jedi were also fighting on the front lines, so it makes no sense why the public (at least the Republic’s people) hates them.

Super Blue Toad I’m not entirely sure. I wish I could quote some legends sources but I don’t remember. I know the public blamed the Jedi. They were the face of the conflict other than the nameless clones. I think Republic propaganda subtle blamed the Jedi by constantly calling Dooku “a former Jedi master”. So, all the CIS war crimes were committed by someone taught by the Jedi.

Most likely because 1.) Even with the losses at Geonosis, the Order still had 10,000 Jedi that were naturally wary of the clones and on-guard at all times instead of later on in the war where they've grown used to fighting alongside them, and 2.) Palpatine used the war to expand his influence and policies while subtly leading a smear campaign against all non-human races, any form of rebellion against the natural order, and even the Jedi.

In Legends "Essential Guide to Warfare", it stated in the Order 66: Road to an Empire section, there were 6 acts that allowed Palpatine to truly make his move. 1) Emergency Powers Act - eliminated term limits for the duration of the Separatist Crisis 2) Military Creation Act - established a centralized Republic military so Palpatine could order the clone troops into battle 3) Enhanced Security Enforcement Act - suspends many of the rights of citizens and essentially allows for the creation of a police state in the name of security 4) Reflex Amendment - allows Palpatine to bypass the Senate and the bureaucracy to conduct the war effort, which he used to create a quasi-military government system of governor-generals (essentially the forerunners to the organization of Moffs) 5) Supreme Command Amendment and Judicial Command Amendment - named the Chancellor the supreme commander of the military forces and the Judiciary forces to which the Jedi Order belonged (so technically Palpatine was head of the Jedi Order) 6) Sector Governance Decree - appoints regional and planetary governors for each sector and system, essentially making the system of governor-generals permanent

Great points. Palpatine streamlined the corrupt bureaucratic system that was the Old Republic. He accumulated his emergency powers and through legitimate means reorganised the Republic into the Galactic Empire. Using the Separatists as the enemy, he created a Grand Army totally loyal to the Republic, a Republic he was the Supreme Commander of (and he outranked the Jedi Generals in that Army). When nearly all entities were under his control, and the only two groups who could resist him weakened after years of war, Palpatine made his move. The Jedi coup gave him the perfect reason to issue the Executive Order (known as Order 66) to have the Army take out their traitorous Generals who had attempted to take over the Republic. Subsequently, Palpatine sent his loyal new enforcer, and second in command to eliminate the Separatist Council, the only force now capable of opposing him. Had the Jedi taken over, they would have (even if only temporarily) have done the same, and ruled the Republic enforcing their will with the Army.

Depends on what ya’ll mean by “security”. Because, in some ways you can have both. In others, not so much. In one way, you can have security by having confidence of your country military might, defense system and competent police force. While at the same time, having constitutional liberal rights. Now if what you mean by security comes from socialist/modern leftist interpretation which is government takes of me and I only rely on the state like socialism, communism and fascism...then I’d agree.

It's just that, for whatever reason, he was offered Vader's space in the mausoleum instead. Sidious, having planned on living forever through essence transferral, never wanted a dead man's throne to begin with. In addition, the reason Vader's throne was empty was because Luke cremated his body elsewhere, not to mention the fact that he was redeemed to the light side.

Promise the Galaxy to the right people, let the Jedi embarrass themselves by exposing their role as Republic Enforcers and drop hints here and there that nothing is as great as it seems and that the "trustworthy" should be taking over. Then, just monitor and adjust as things take care of themselves.

One thing I have always wondered is what did Palpatine say about all the children jedi after order 66, like I get it how everyone believed that the lie of the masters and knight's betraying the republic but everyone under the age of 10, there should of been some questions about that.

What Im still wondering is how the jedi couldn't sense the dark side in Palpatine after being so close to him every day? I mean I know you can use the force to hide your presence but he would have to do it constantly and that would drain him exhausting him, plus hes a politician and they have to do tons of work

It honestly took awhile to hit me that Palpatine training Dooku wasn't just that he didn't have enough time to fully train a new apprentice from youth like he did with Maul. A former Jedi turned leader of the Separatists made the Jedi Order as a whole look more untrustworthy in the public's eyes. The whole thing was pretty genius.

And it makes it significantly more believable that the Jedi would plot and attempt a coup, and doubly suspicious that it happens right after said Jedi who’s leading the separatists died.

I pretty much prefer the Legends-version of Order 66, cause many if not most clones knew the endgame of the Clone Wars. Clones from the 501st described their experience during the Clone Wars and Order 66 in their journals in "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" from 2005. And I think that makes it just as tragic as their Canon counterparts and that's why I pretty much enjoy it. They were always loyal to Palpatine and the republic, not the jedi, even after 3 whole years. They knew about Order 66 all along and they went along with it, even in the prequels it is shown or at least hinted: - When Cody is informed of Order 66 by Darth Sidious, he says to the AT-TE to "blast him" referring the Obi-Wan scaling the cliff off to the side of the battle, that gun/AT-TE fires almost instantly after the order is given. It's already pointed in the direction of Obi-Wan and only needs to adjust slightly for elevation, it's aiming way off away from the battle, pointing at a bare cliff face only Obi-Wan is in that area. That gun was tracking Obi-Wan since he departed from Cody and his men, waiting for the signal "Blast him" which is so casually delivered by Cody. - When Yoda is attacked by Commander Gree and a scout trooper on Kashyyyk, Gree is off at the back and recieved a communique from Sidious and addresses him literally by his Sith name (just as Cody does), not as "Chancellor Palpatine". He then walks up to the scout trooper that stood right behind Yoda and nods at him. The scout trooper is not given a communique, he would've been overheard by Yoda if he had been given one, the scout trooper is given no order by Gree, who did receive the communique, he's just given a nod. A signal, a que. Like they were briefed beforehand and the scout trooper was standing, waiting for the position to take the shot, just waiting for the nod. It is just dark if you look at it that way... - Same as the Jedi on the speeder bike: the two (I believe) 91st Recon troopers on bikes accompanying her, look over to each other and nod like "Yep, I got the call. Let's do it". If they were inhibitor-chips, each clone would receive the order through their helmet and just act right there and then, not pre-plan and co-ordinate and nod to each other in a scheming way. - And Commander Bacara and his troops approached Ki Adi Mundi on Mygeeto and prepared to fire before they all took the shot at the same time. Bacara had probably already received the order beforehand and was probably waiting for the right moment. Also, in Battlefront 2, one of the clones said in his journals "Keeping Mundi in the dark wasn't easy". - And Commander Bly on Felucia probably received Order 66 beforehand as well and was waiting at the right moment before he and his men shot Aayla Secura. In "Battlefront 2", one of the clones reports about her death in his journals "General Secura wanted to make point of seeing us all off personally, said we were the best damn soldiers she'd ever fought with, it was a good thing we were all wearing helmets... Because none of us could bear to look her in the eye... And as much as I think the clones knew in the CWMMP, through the final stages of the war, the last few months. I think they knew. A darker plot to the inhibitor-chips of the new Canon.

Another reason is, that he wanted to wait until Anakin turned to the dark side, but also if Anakin would have not turned, Order 66 was his “Plan A” and “Plan B” at the same time.

Great video. Palpatine had to ensure an environment and events that would justify it from a public relations and legal standpoint. The Jedi coup gave him that reason. And indeed Palpatine needed to accumulate powers and eliminate other entities and groups who might pose a threat to him. By the end of ROTS, the Jedi and the Separatist Leadership were the last entities capable of opposing him.
