Hey Web-heads. Dagogo is still away and we won't have another episode for at least a few weeks - but we had this one prepped for you! It's a conversation we recorded with Kai, co-founder of Light Phone that's increasingly growing in popularity and is almost centre at the "Anti Smartphone Revolution". Hope you enjoy this different episode!

With over a decade of industry experience I can guarantee you there are many retired people who only want a phone that is cheap, takes photos and can send text and make a basic call. They don’t care about anything else. I have been asked for this product countless times and phone shops don’t sell it.❤ Good luck.

My smart phone is amazing, I genuinely do feel sorry for those with an addiction to social media... I don't have any socials as of 3 years ago but have observed the same thing in friends and family. While I would never buy this product personally, I can see it's place in the market and welcome it's appearance.

How many hours are you on KZbin a day??
@initialb123 Жыл бұрын
@@RichCousin KZbin as a media source for entertainment and learning? I'd say around two hours a week on average. If you mean as a "social media" platform, where I would write or read comments by other users I'd say around 2minutes a week depending on how interesting or how retarded the comment section is.

@@initialb123 if it's TRUE. That's mental strength. Most don't have that.

Do you guys think it’d make sense to add the link to Light’s website or product page? I think it’ll remove any friction for those “on the fence” of switching and looking at searching for it as an “extra step” that prevents them from taking the plunge + also for anyone just interested in learning more about it.

Love the Podcast! Thank you guys!

It is more than having self-control or not, even if you are not actively using your cellphone it is still listening, still harvesting data about where you are, who you are with, how you are driving, whether you are walking, etc etc. It is *so* *much* more than what we are actually doing and *more* what the technology is doing being tied to your identity. It will get even more serious when the AI technology is fully integrated into the data harvesting and coorelation and "models of inference" of those data points.

It appears nothing is private in my recent experience with using my phone and so this is a necessity

I love the light phone. great design super minimal, and I would buy only cos I love electronic gizmos. It is true that lots of people are addicted to social, BUT lets not forget that our smart phones are also super useful tool for internet banking, to pay, to bring documents with us..... so as much as I love the idea behind the light phone, and a part of me wishes to go back to those simple times, I don't really know... I stop using social media few years ago and I feel free from jail too and yet I still have my smart phone. of course I used it much less, and mostly to listening music or podcast... but I like to have it there in case I need it for a emergency

This was a GREAT interview. I'm pulling the trigger. I'm getting one in quest of living a more minimal lifestyle. Question. Have y'all bought a Light phone yet and if not will y'all to see what are your genuine thoughts on the usage of the phone?

It's not the smartphones. It's social media.

And, the new version is like 500$, for less I can buy a really mid/high range phone, if I want a free apps phone, Japan still sells flip phones with a few apps like telegram or whatsapp.
