@@Kydino I'm actually aware of these values and their presence in older Western media. In fact, I've gravitated toward that in recent years, rather than toward anime and other such things. I even find it to be the right move, but that's just my opinion. However, I thank you for the recommendation. I'll check this Distributist out, when I can.

Anime Girl is the result of the behavior of modern Japanese women encouraged by the female suffrage after 1945s. It started back in the 80s. We could have had these fictional drawings of women outdoing the 'real women' decades ago but it never needed to happen then. However it does now.

These claims are pretty wild, though. Anime and Japan are a standard for relationships, really? Are people really thinking about this? Dudes, go outside, meet some real people. Japan has an abysmal fertility rate and sky-high suic*de rates. Anime characters are all perma-virgins or experience sex through borderline r*pe and accidental gr*ping only. WTF. But god forbid people having _exes_ , right? yuk! I'm also under the suspicion, some of in not all these studies are biased as heck. They are all centered about "reported satisfaction". Isn't it reasonable to assume people who have no experience with other partners have less to compare with and say "I guess this is fine, I guess this is how it's supposed to be" even while being in rather terrible relationships? Aren't more experienced people more likely to have experienced some really good and some really bad relationships and thus having high standards and thus able to be more critical of any current relationship? Aren't people of more traditional values more invested in ... "reporting" a higher satisfaction for their one and only, god-given spouse even if they are _terrible_ ? _reported_ satisfaction in relationships is not the same as _actual_ quality of relationships.

I have 5 young daughters, and there is something to be said about how anime girls are idealized femininity, especially with personality traits. My oldest is now 13, and she regularly watches slice of life anime. The portrayal of anime girls in this genre is certainly exaggerated, which is the point. No human female can have perfectly symmetrical features or eyes that are almost a quarter of the size of their face. However, my daughter has shown some of the mannerisms and personality traits that anime idealizes. She admonished me for speaking crudely in front of my wife and daughters, and while she was right, I was somewhat surprised. She’s currently quite infatuated with romance, but not sex. My wife showed me drawings she made of this wedding scene (complete with an anime girl that had more than a passing resemblance to her, and a boy that was cleverly hidden behind her - she doesn’t know what her future husband would look like). I think this is a good thing all around. I’m well aware there is hentai and a lot of people have degenerate feelings towards it. But I think we should celebrate femininity more, it’s gotten a bad rap in the west.

I blame the overfocus on masculinity where boys are abused for supporting girly stuff, yet the gender enforcement goes only 1 way with our society not caring about girls being feminine. If we had much more of those cutesy magical girl anime series English Dubbed & insisted the importance of girls watching them maybe we would be better off. Oh & then there are our sports why are the hypermasculine events given such prime treatment in America? While ballet, fencing, gymnastics, & ice skating are nearly impossible to find normally just because they aren't masculine enough for our Western Culture. Christianity was destroyed by hypocrisy in these parts. You can't claim to be for being virtuous & treating people well when your most avid members support such corruption & evil as their champion. We the people Stateside & Christians were supposed to be better than this. Through Anime we can see much more virtue & actual values. I rejected my own masculinity simply because there is far too much of that poisoning my homeland & all I can do is write of the importance of feminine traits.

@@The_Jazziest_Coffee Thanks & it feels like we need to restrain masculinity through something like chivalry. Modern Men would view such honor for women as simping. The Knights in shining armor that girls were supposed to fall in love with are much too feminine for the modern idea of masculinity that exists Stateside. Civilization thrives on rules not roughnecks & barbarism. Yet our Far Western Culture is at risk of mindless might & brutality being the rule. Many have forgotten the importance of softness & sensitivity. Now we see people attacking our intellectual institutions & arresting doctors for doing their jobs. Kindness is a dying virtue & those who practice it are treated as woke witches these days Stateside. I still use the pen to fight for what I believe in during this age of guns.

@@WaterKirby1994 it's ironic cuz i would actually argue that the 'knight in shining armour' trope was at one point deemed 'too masculine' crazy and scary stuff we're living through, as the gym that was once meant to be a wholesome idea is now being used as a symbolism for hypermasculinity and the 'sigma grindset' culture and thank you for touching on the kindness being a dying virtue. tolerance is the most basic form of respect, and yet people are already seeming to lack that in one way or another, so kindness seems to be more of an add-on than a common aspect of life, which is just awfully fucked up. anyways, have a good day, and take care

Saber is honestly a great example of a powerful yet feminine character. She is a woman who was forced to rule as a king both out of obligation and her own sense of duty. Yet her true dream was to simply live as a normal girl and tend to the horses she loved so much. That point about chastity is really really important. It's often an issue for me regarding how sexualized characters can be so sexually modest in anime. How the fictional character who "has standards" is partaking in an ethical act simply by punishing the in-universe projection of the viewer in proportion of the sexualization. For example, an average looking anime guy could walk into a shower not knowing the female character was there, and accidentally stumbling into her in a bath towel. Since it's not a super egregious act (and an honest mistake), he typically will get away with a disgusted stare or a "hmph!". Scenes like this typically devolve into a "towel falling off while she is monologuing" or "while yelling at him for walking into the ladies' room she slips and he has to grope her to save her" to create an excuse for the studio to give the viewer more eye candy or "fanservice". Even though the scene is horribly unrealistic, it feels reasonable enough for the viewer to suspend their disbelief because the two people in this scene have "standards" and are characterized ethically enough to act as anchors for the events of the show. The scene is also usually ends with the male, who supposedly did nothing ethically wrong, receiving a physical reprimand for his honest mistake to satisfy the female character's anger towards him, hence it feels like "no harm done" even though there was a creepy guy watching the entire thing unfold from start to finish: the viewer.

This video contains so many combined wisdoms regarding love relationships and the way our modern day society thinks about this. I think I'm beginning to understand why I gear towards anime instead of more western shows. In some ways anime is a logical progression of my christian upbringing and explains why I feel I have such a good relationship with my girlfriend. Though the degenerate side of anime is why I am leaning more and more towards living as a christian instead of being an anime fan. This would also explain why I've sometimes thought some anime music sounded like hypercharged christian music. The music represents themes like passion, the joy of living, striving to aim for higher goals, beauty and elegance, while sounding cheery and upbeat at the same time. The sad thing is that the musical style I'm refering to, is used most (I've found) in virtual novels with pornographical elements. These are games designed to make the player attached to these characters, so no suprise the music is designed to represent unending love. Being upbeat with fast changes ("hypercharged", if you will) to be a fast consumable dopamine rush. This video really made me think...

Anime does have those aspects which are essentially nonexistent in western media. But Anime also has polygamy and Homosexuality, which are also pretty big parts of Anime. Yuri and Harem are very popular. But I don't think they are nearly as destructive as western media, because even in those anime, femininity and virtues are still very prevalent. here is my take on the subject,i wrote it as an answer to someone else but i hope it complements the points explained in your video; for me,anime as it is known today started with a struggle of some japanese men to express themselfes in a post war,desperate,souless japan. after the war the entire foundation of japanese civilization was challenged,and what followed wasnt a cultural revival,or a penetration of western culture like christianity (in part because the west too,was deep into its decomposition process. it still is,today.) but simply materialistic capitalism and modernism. at the same time,the subbordination to authority and the rigid social norms where strenghened,so many in japan felt crushed without a way to convey their inner world. thats why anime was created. it isnt a fight against modernism,against japans current situation,nor is it political. it is like an understanding hug. the rich characthers and scenarios,and the comically yet sincere social interactions found in many shows feels like if the author tore the fake reality apart to reach the viewer in a more sincere,real,human inner reality. anime ideally tries to rescue the soul of japan. of course this is an ideal. most shows focus on cute girls and stuff,although this too,makes a lot of sense in this context,considering japans problem with hikkikimori and women not seeking relationships. so why did anime became so popular worldwide? like i said,our civilization is decomposing,and everyone can feel this,even if at an unconscious level. the waifus,the anime tropes,otaku culture,all of this is an attempt to fill in that void with sincerity, honor, memorable and attractive characthers and why not,some ecchi along the way. thats why anime is deeply satisfying,and why i believe it is valuable nowadays. ofc this comes with some danger. this culture can help you feel better and gain perspective,but at the same time can be like a drug. some people can become so involved in it that they become delusioned with our current situation,and what began as a source of hope ends being an escapist trap as materialistic as the place it originated from.

Anime isn't magical, it's one more way to enjoy reality. We had books in the west before anime, so I REALLY have no clue as to why people are so surprised to learn anime is going places. But if there's one correction I want to make, it's that it's not a matter of expressing anything. One can make a drawing or write something to themselves for themselves if it's just about expressing. Expression stops exactly when you stop producing, not when you share it. Some people wanted things to be one way but reality disagrees. Drawing or writing helps a lot, but most people don't know that because they don't do it. I mean, if anyone is reading this, when you had trouble, have you ever tried working through it by writing down your reasoning for why it's that way? Or have you ever tried giving form to it with a drawing? Of course not, drawing your thoughts is considered cringy and writing it pretentious unless you're famous. But it works. And it turns out many people want to see pretty things not sad reality. Then the market does what it wants.

Well done. I'm rather new to anime myself, but I have found it to be consistently several steps beyond anything I see in the West when it comes to values depicted and overall wholesomeness. In fact, one of the reasons I ended up interested in it was because I'm tired of having to constantly skip through sex scenes and roll my eyes at other indecencies when I watch movies and TV. Then I discovered that there's a whole segment of the population that wildly condemns anime and I was perplexed by this. I liked anime for being exactly the OPPOSITE of what these people were claiming it was. I thought maybe I was the one who just happened to watch the tiny percentage of anime that were clean, but now I think it was those people who were watching the percentage that weren't.

The Godcast sent me here, thank the LORD. Let's also keep in mind the other side of the same coin here: Japan is also producing entertainment with traditional models of masculinity. First time I've heard of Yakuza series was from a female acquaintance who loved it for the male characters who were to her what anime girls are to us: a reconstruction of traditional positive gender models. Strength, loyalty, virtue, independence, status, decisiveness, etc., are all displayed by much of Yakuza cast. It's attractive to the female audience and aspirational for male audience, and scarcely represented in Western media as well. No wonder Japanese media is becoming more popular with the few sane people left in the West, and it's hilariously ironic, considering how much stigma being a weeb used to carry.

Even the next guys from welcome to the NHK are funny, interesting and have adventures unlike the modern western man. Also, anime boys are fit, unlike fat lazy western men.

Thank you so much for doing this video. It made me realize why I like most of the Anime girls in the anime's I've watched over the years. My favorite is probably Shirayuki from Snow White with the Red Hair, but I also like Neo from RWBY. (Not that Neo has any traits of a wife, I like her cause she's just badass).

And i know exactly that this is the reason why you guys are into anime that much. It's the world where nothing matters, just dreams about being stronger and better and those dreams pushes you to be the best. It's sad world where we need dream world to run from all these problems and painful reality.

Loved the video. You definitely make alot of great points that I've never put to words before about anime. The west is collapsing and our media reflects that. There is something comforting about anime being a safe harbor to find actual good values. I honestly credit Ghibli movies when I was growing up for alot of my world views now. Keep up the great content and God be with you!

Waifu obsession is something I have a personal connection with. The desire to be loved by someone unconditionally, to be the object of adoration without the preface of needing to provide material things and constant attention, is something that is a dealbreaker for me when it comes to relationships. I don't want a transactional relationship. I don't want to just be two people living with each other and having sex. I want a soulmate and a companion. So, naturally, living in the west, I've accepted that I will probably be alone for the rest of my life. Were girls ever like they are in anime? Were they ever capable of expressing such innocent love and devotion? I guess I'll never know.

And if I can add, and perhaps it feels difficult to find that now..but the fullness of innocent love & devotion you speak of could be best practically portrayed in variously complex, authentic feminine ways from many woman throughout history at least. From people like Joan of Arc, Princess Diana, St. Anne, St. Monica, Jane Austen, Anne Bradstreet, Hildegard of Bingen, and Mary & Abigail in certain biblical accounts. Visiting a ancient church might also help. One of Orthodox tradition specifically. Ultimately, don't take it from me though. Research these things for yourself. Bless you!

Man, half this video is what I've been telling my family and friends for quite a few years now... I can't stand western media's lack of well-written and virtuous stories and characters; instead, we get anti-heroes and villains like Venom, Maleficent, Deadpool, etc. And especially the lack of femininity. I never pieced it together like you did though, so let me commend you as best I can Pax. Absolutely loving your videos! One thought that occurred to me the second time watching this through... What are your thoughts on the common tropes in anime and in particular the female characters? Tropes of the insanely strong female characters that beat everyone up or the tropes of eating food and not ceasing about how delicious it is and etc.?? Is it just something for the humor or for the cuteness or what?...
@symptomofsouls
@symptomofsouls 7 ай бұрын
Modern writers fundamentally misunderstand the concept of "anti-heroes". They think anti-heros are completely amoral and are just edgy characters that sort of do whatever they want. That is not an anti-hero, that is a nihilist. Anime has several anti-hero characters that are actually moral. A prime example is Benimaru Shinmon from Fire Force. He is a staunch Shinto-Nationalist who is vehemently ant-government and anti-authority, openly disrespecting government officials and sometimes even completely ignoring his ambassadorial obligations, and prefers to find his own solutions to problems that are more in-line with the cultural beliefs of his people. He refuses any help from anyone, good or evil, who seeks to make him compromise on his people's beliefs. Yet despite this, he is probably the most moral character in the entire show. He is revered by the people of his district, takes a hands-on approach with government, personally fighting enemies himself and physically rebuilding the town afterwards. He also acts as a mentor who is wise beyond his years, and as a straight-man in a series where the characters and their interactions can often devolve into chaos from seemingly nothing.

I think you glossed over the most important fact. The fact that men no longer feel the immediate motivation or the need to chase after women. Being in a relationship is a big financial and emotional investment. It is also very time consuming and more often than not it ends in failure. Everyone knows that. With the rise of anime and geek culture in general (and everything that comes with it) men no longer feel the need to desperately chase after women. They can already find some form of comfort in the characters, shows, games they like. It isn't ideal, but for many it is enough. Add that to the fact that any adult website is readily available at your fingertips and you get an unbothered generation of men that see little value in persuing their love interests. That's why a lot of men have given up on IRL relationships and have devoted themselves to their hobbies, friends, etc. It's easier, cheaper and just safer in general. Nobody likes to get out of their comfort zones. Anime and Waifus are very much like a comfort zone for many men.
