I also think this ship would show character development for Kaminari. As of now, he’s seen as the 2nd most pervertive boy in the class after Mineta. In the second day of class, he’s seen trying to ask Uraraka out on a date and failing. Jiro is seen as the least “develope” girl in the class, to the point that she gets offended that Mineta didn’t perv over her like he does over others. Kaminari crushing over her would show that he’s beyond physical appearance or body shapes and likes her for who she is rather than just aesthetically.

Really, when I ship pairings in this series I usually look for a good dynamic. This is my reason for shipping Iida/Deku/Uraraka, Ojiro/Tooru, KamiJirou...sometimes KiriBaku but I don't like Bakugou so I prefer to stay away from things involving him...

Here's my main reason why I love this ship. Because the show and OVAs are constantly teasing us! Even the movie has jirou and Kaminari moments that had me "this is way too blunt." The most recent one, in the show, was when *Spoiler Alert* Mirio beat the crap our of the entire class everyone was seperated from each holding their stomach, except for jirou and Kaminari who where tied together by jirou's quirk. We didn't get to see that from anyone else, even deku and ochaco. The question is, why? Why so many hints? Why the constant tease? this is what makes it so endearing and fun to expeculate on. Oh, they also sit next to each other in class and everytime Kaminari hits on a girl Jirou is always there to snap him out of it.

Some other cute things with these two: in the 2nd ova when bakugo goes after the jiro, Kaminari, aoyama, and mineta group he ends up hurting jiro by exploding the ground while her jacks were inserted into it, a couple frames later you can see Kaminari hovering over jiro trying to see if she was ok. Another moment that's really only there if you're like me and your crazy, is when Aizawa tells the students that there's going to be a sports festival and everyone is excited because it's a normal school thing, jiro is the first one to voice her concerns but before she does so Kaminari shuts them up to they could listen to her. To me this is the third most solid ship, right behind Deku x Uraraka, and Ojiro x Hagakure

Fun fact: Kyouka Jirou blushed when she feels sexualy uncomfortable. Like when she sees Momo half naked or naked when Momo uses her quirk. Proof? I have grown to love this pairing because of recent events in the manga spoilers . . . In the war with between the heroes and the Paranormal Liberation Front has finally kicked off, Kaminari has found himself on the front lines alongside pro heroes like Midnight and Cementoss. As he continues to get nervous about helping to lead the first charge while the rest of his class is held in the back, he gets some last minute motivation by thinking about how he's hero to help protect those in the back -- and most importantly -- Jiro.

I think you hit almost every point I would make. I thought the same thing about Jirou's dad looking similar to Kaminari. It would explain why she teases, mocks, and criticizes him all the time. She's making fun of a guy who reminds her of her dad, and if she is the type to respect her dad and use his example to measure the character of other guys, then perhaps her picking on Kaminari is to cover up some deeper feelings for him. I also believe they have similar themes going on. You already pointed out the examples with musical instruments, and I would add that their hair displays symbols relating to their quirks, Kaminari's bolt and Jirou's EKG blip. I think what makes any pairing strong (and popular) is the potential for development, and also the characters having the ability to make each other better than they are alone. I think there is a lot of potential between these two, and quite a few good storylines that could be shown, and that's probably why there is a lot of fanfiction for these characters. I also think Jirou could benefit from Kaminari's positive attitude, while she may be able to inspire Kaminari to improve his quirk or get serious about his studies. He could make her more outgoing, and she could make him more... grounded (heh heh, ya get it?). We have seen this already. Kaminari can make her laugh, thus improving her mood (though she mostly just laughs at him), and she has shown him how to use his quirk effectively (though she did so by kicking him into the enemies).

Smash makes fun of some of the scenes in the original. Because it's got the humor slant you'd probably be better off not taking it seriously. As for the novels, I agree that they should be canon. I'm not sure if they were written by the author yet, but if they weren't, as long as they don't contradict and only add, most people could argue against manga purists that the novels are canon.

In the Dorms episode, when Kaminari recognizes her talents for instruments and gets awe by it, I thought it was cute and I became the a member of that ship even if it sinks! Aside from what you mentioned, I just love that whole music theme they have. Everyone can relate to that, music brings people together. Concerts are the best dates, I can just picture these two going to concerts and jamming out together

In response he thinks about Jiro, and turns around to try to see her behind him. Then he braces for impact as an electric shock wave bursts toward him.
