It's here! The Bakugo and Kirishima shipping video where we focus on BakuShima! So yeah in this video we're just going to point out what the author did that I think created a very solid friendship, as solid as you could get with Bakugo anyway. We won't really be talking about the ship itself though because well when you have a relationship that offers as many return as Bakugo Kirishima does, well it's only natural that people would ship it.

Romantic or Friendship it doesn't matter. These two are just a good pair period because Kirishima excepts Bakugou the way he is and Bakugou has learned to trust other people to have his back because of Kirishima. They have what the other is missing. Bakugou has confidence in his abilities while Kirishima doesn't and Kirishima is social and can easily become friends with people while Bakugou cannot. This is why them as a pair is just great period.

There is a MHA spinoff called Boku no Hero Academia Smash!! In it there is a Christmas special that emphasized that Christmas is a couples holiday in Japan. Kirishima asked Bakugo if he wanted to hang out in front of the class and Bakugo responded with his usual rage and a no. Then All Might asked the class if they would like to help him with a charity on Christmas instead and all but Bakugo said yes, though Kirishima later found him trying to catch up to them and the 2 go off to work together with Kirishima noting Bakugo's tsundere attitude. While this comic is noncanon as a whole, it lead me to believe that the creator is open to the pairing and that's good enough for me.

oh man smash is the pinnacle of kiribaku. lets not forget horikoshi has to look smash over and approve of it before it gets published. in general, in smash kirishima not only has a very open crush on bakugou, going so far as to ask him out (which you mentioned. the t/n was there for a reason. fun fact, they do end up going out hiking/camping canonically!) , flirt with him (see the smash where bkg gets affected by a quirk that makes him flirt with everyone), get jealous when other people display affection towards bkg (smash where they all get turned into animals by a quirk except bkg), but he also openly manifests his total disinterest in girls from a romantic pov (smash where jirou has a crush on kirishima and tries to flirt with him, only to get immediately shut down and ignored in favour of...you guessed it. bkg). I mentioned in another comment that aside from uraraka/deku, this pairing is the most obviously pushed by the creator. You are /meant/ to ship them. Once again, please dont take this as romantic shipping necessarily. Rather as a bond that is deliberately emphasised by all bnha-related canon material.

what I love about bakushima is how they are polar opposites on the outside but they understand each other so well, it's kinda long to explain, but their friendship at a same level is really satisfaying and I think that if bakugou has a romantic interest it should be kirishima because blasty needs someone who sees something other than the "explosions" and until now kiri was the only one to get it. Same goes for Eijirou, he's not only the moral support and bakugou sees that, he sees how much he works and his determination. Also Kiri is one of the few who actually wants to spend time with him and they care about each other so... That's nice. I don't care what gender or appeareance they have, I like their characteristics and stories together.

People should realize that queer coding exists and sometimes there's a bigger story that you might not see if you don't really look for it (though there's a small flaw with queer coding but in this case let's assume this ship is canon). This ship is more about respect and trust. It is about how Kirishima can tame Bakugo with a single hand and Bakugo can raise Kirishimas self confidence with a single sentance. Kirishima sees trough all the rough actions the other does...he was the only one who could call out from Bakugo and get him saved.... It’s not a matter of whether of not these characters are homosexual. It’s a matter of whether or not they are compatible enough to have a friendship, which they do; and it’s also a matter of whether or not a friendship between the two characters can evolve into a romantic one. Whenever someone tries to validate a ship, I often see the person on the defensive side say “If this (insert name) was female and this were a STRAIGHT ship, I’d still ship it!” And that is a poor approach, in my opinion. I’m going to reference the video. He says that these characters aren’t real people, but a bundle of ideas and concepts that we are prompted to relate to. And in my opinion, that is completely correct. Analyze the character. To do this, you need to note how the character does something, not what they do. For example. You touch someone’s shoulder. How the fuck did you touch their shoulder? I don’t know. ‘They touched the other persons shoulder in order to get their attention so they would walk slower and allow them to catch up’ versus ‘They touched their shoulder tenderly and soft, and squeezed just a little, then promptly let their hand caress the side of their arm.’ Very, v e r y different ways of expressing emotion. Those are two different people that you’re interacting with, so you project yourself differently onto them. Notice how neither of those characters are gender specific or even specific to a certain person, but you still know that one of them is clearly more intimate than the other. Let’s think about every single ship that might me romantic in that manner. I’m not going to leak whether or not I ship anything because it might make me seem biased. We all know that Kirishima and Bakugou are close friends. They’ve hardly known each other for over a long time, and yet, Kirishima managed to somehow become a friend of Bakugous. Closer than Mina or Sero or Kaminari or any other character in the series, in a healthy way. Not to say that it’s romantic. That’s completely up to the observing individual. Consider the things that have happened between the characters. For these particular variables: the festival, the lunch and homework session, each other’s stance on Bakugous and Midoriyas rivalry, the rescue, the little hand squeeze, what our own main character has said about their relationship. I have absolutely no other way to be spending my time so I’m going to share my opinion on how I came to a conclusion about my personal opinion about the romantic part of this. It is so incredibly blatantly obvious that they are friends. I’m going to just say this, despite my outlook that we should look at the characters more than their gender: it won’t happen. It really, in all honesty, will not happen in canon. It won’t. It is unfair, the little rep that the LGBT+ community gets, and we’ve gained publicity slightly over the years. But it won’t happen in BNHA. And for those that are so against the shipping community that they feel they need to say “ugh I remember back when two people could just be friends ÙnÚ grr” just don’t...? It’s not that big of a deal if it won’t even happen. Don’t get your panties in a twist. There are rational shippers and irrational shippers. Pick on the irrational ones... the ones that ship something because there two hot characters that made eye contact once. It may not be a ship that will become ‘canon’ and it may disagree with your ship and maybe you just don’t like the ship or shipping in general. But if the characters are already friends? Especially if they’re two characters that have a friendship deeper than the friends they have around them? Just let the shipper ship. I’m rambling. I’ll stop.

Wow! But I kinda disagree, NO HATE ON YOU I LOVED YOUR COMMENT, but I think they have the potential to become canon. The author is aware of the LGBTQ+ community and has two trans characters and a bi character and Kiri is heavily gay coded. This is the only LGBTQ+ ship in BNHA that I expect to become canon and I really hope it does. I don’t want to say that it will or that won’t because we don’t know for sure, it’s the author’s choice and his story. Whatever he decides, we should respect it. I also hope that he gets to do what he wants with his story because based off of the amount of merch that Kiribaku is on and how much evidence that he’s dropped for the ship, it’s clear that there might be more to their relationship than we see. I do think a LGBTQ+ ship is possible in this show, but it won’t be in our faces and very subtle.

Why I ship it: Kiribaku - My Hero Academia This is a ship with Bakugou and Kirishima. Their personalities go together and create a strong bond. Let's talk about the scene when Bakugou got kidnapped by the Villains. Kirishima was on the verge of crying and went against the rules to save him, along with his party members. Spending around $10,000 on equipment, he went through the night to find him. When he found him,the scene leaves many unspeakable. The way Bakugou grabbed Kirishima's hand mid-air was enough to bring us to tears. It even said he grabbed Kirishima's hand only because he was the only one he could trust and they have "grown a strong bond." "It's gotta be you, Kirishima. I can't do it, or Todoroki, or Iida, or Yaoyorozu. Ever since school started, you've built a relationship with him as equals. So, if it's you, his friend, who calls to him... then..!" - Midoriya After, we can see when Kirishima tried to hold Bakugou's hand. 🙌 Bakugou even repayed kirishima when he found out how much he spent. (Can we just talk about how Kirishima's favorite things are "tough guys" and "meat"?!) Another scene was where they were walking at sunset together. They talk about school, and Bakugou starts to talk about how he's gonna get stronger. This is something he would never be comfortable talking about around anyone else. If he did, it would just be yelling. They way Kirishima lools over and smiles is the cutest thing. However, that is not the first time he does. Many times he is seen staring at Bakugou. I HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET BUT WHATEVER BOIIIIII In My Hero Academia - Two Heros, we can see that they share a hotel room. This gives them time to see each other and comfort each other all the time. At the end, credits with the fantasy AU, Bakugou has a tattoo of a "k" with an abstract heart around it. This could mean many things, but at this point... Not to mention Kirishima is his dragon. In My Hero Academia Smash!!, Kirishima is portrayed as crushing on Bakugou and trying to get closer to him. (FiGhT mE) Even the Fandom Wiki states the fact: A strip of Smash!! shows Bakugou (under the influence of a quirk) saying "You can try to tie me up all you want... but you'll never be able to tie down my heart!" to which Kirishima responds with "Interesting! A challenge to see which one of our hearts submit first!" Also states: In the light novel, we get to see the two studying together, first at the library and later at a cafe. During their scene in the library, a comment made by Kirishima causes Bakugou to let out a 'genuine, pleasant laugh.' While at the cafe, Kirishima grabs and pays for both of their drinks. Kirishima is asked by one of Bakugou's middle school friends why he hangs out with Bakugou and, after responding defensively at first, he answers with: "Well, he's very sincere, and being with him feels really nice. He's passionate, and I'm sure everyone knows and accepts him for that!" During a wrestling match against Class 1-B in the light novel, Bakugou can be seen cheering Kirishima on, which is what pushes him to win. They are also often shown together on battle cards. Wiki also states: According to the festival clothing promotional art, it's shown that Bakugou gave Kirishima his jacket as Kirishima wasn't wearing a shirt. On top of this, it's hinted that it was a romantic gesture, as the caption for Bakugou's outfit stated "...Maybe he gave it to a girl passing by who looked cold?" while Kirishima is the one wearing his jacket. Wow okay I can see this is an older video and I'm sad I didn't find it earlier, but I also wanted to add my two cents. Either as a romantic relationship or a platonic friendship, Kirishima and Bakugou are great together. Kirishima has self doubt and questions his drive to be a hero, like when he sees Mina taking down the larger villain in middle school. Bakugou never questions his drive to be a hero, as he knows he has what it takes to get to the top, and encourages Kirishima to push himself to become the hero he wants to be. Additionally, Kirishima is portrayed as Bakugou's only true friend, both at UA and in the past. He's willing to push back at Bakugou, while letting other things slide, allowing for them to change their dynamic and get closer over time. Bakugou's explosive power is a representation of how he pushes people away- quickly, loudly, and aggressively. Kirishima's hardening quirk allows him to withstand Bakugou's explosions metaphorically and in actuality. Like in the USJ training center arc, they have the same idea to attack, and get warped to the same area. Once defeating the villains, they disagree on how to proceed, with Bakugou giving Kirishima the choice of either following him, or joining him. Kirishima presents his own reasons and understanding of Bakugou's motives and agrees to join him; praising his "manliness". While this got extremely off topic, I do agree that an intense, solely romantic relationship is implausible, as Bakugou has extreme emotional constipation and is highly focused on being a pro hero. However, I believe that they eventually will have a close platonic friendship that mirrors and is a casual romantic relationship with each other. i truly think they’re getting set up for eachother, their relationship is definitely more developed than any of the other couples who have been set up (todoroki+momo, asui+tokoyami, deku+ochaco, etc etc.) these duos are often shown together in official art, and so are bakugo and kirishima. one that sticks out to me the most is official art showing all the couples that are being set up next to eachother in a christmas themed artwork, which is seen as a romantic holiday, and bakugo and kirishima are right next to eachother as well. that or they’re just good bro’s, but either way they are amazing together and i love their dynamic.

I ship them because of many reasons. Mainly, I see a lot of my self in Bakugo, or rather, how I used to act. I was a very defensive person a few years ago. I had few friends, and I could've been considered a bully. I snapped at people and didn't want pity, which distanced my self from so many potential long-term friends. The only person who stuck by me, understood my rage because she'd been there for me during my breakdowns. Granted, it wasn't a physical friendship (she lives a few states away from me; we've only met in person twice) I ended up being very... affection-starved, I suppose? She was my only constant friend for, at that point in my life, three years. She was there for me when I discovered that, yes, I like girls, and yes, it's okay. She supported me and respected me, which is why I had minor feelings for her. I ended up pushing her away, too, and now we barely talk. I see a lot of myself in Bakugo because, like him, I've been alone and angry, with only one person at my side. I ship him with Kirishima because he's patient with Bakugo, willing to wait until Bakugo is done with his tantrums over Midoriya. Their relationship is familiar and comfortable to me. In a less personal tone, I like them together because they work well as a team, and understand one another, whereas a lot of class 1-A seem to be pushed away by Bakugo's anger. Plus, I'm incredibly weak for the friends-to-lovers trope.

I could see them ending up working as a crime fighting duo, maximum offense Bakugo and maximum defense Kirishima. There would be tag team moves like Bakugo throwing Kirishima like a spear, or Kirishima protecting civilians as Bakugo makes the whole area just erupt. Man the whole thing about how you approach characters and ships had me really thinking, because while at the start I could quickly see yeah I'm on the other end of the spectrum with how i approach characters, i care more about them being crafted as people and going from there, I also often like a relationship for the same reason you do; ignore how probable it is, how *interesting* is it? A fun little thing to think about how many approaches you actually have going on when it comes to fiction. I'm eagerly awaiting for the moment when bakugou and deku acknowledge each other and become a true team. The moment where they become friends. Bakugou x kirishima ship as lovers sort of bores me because kirishima is not having a powerful emotional impact on bakugou and he isn't for him either. Bakugou and deku's actions on the other hand are pretty much indirect eponse to one another which is why I can not wait till they overcome their jealousy for each other and become bros. I personally feel that kirishima and bakugou work better as soulbrothers mainly because they are not seeking to change one another. My favorite things about romantic couples is seeing how drastically they affect each other's dreams and goals and thought process. And conflict. I love conflict. Makes things interesting which is probably why I like the dekuxbakugou ship better despite not shipping them romantically. Im also really enjoying the way the author wrote Mina's impact on Kirishima, how she inspired him to be the outgoing person he is now and to become a benevolent hero.(its funny how he dyed his hair red and gave himself horns to be more like her). I think the closest thing we will have to a canon gay couple on bnha is mirioxamajinki. The author himself said that they won't have a normal friendship. That it will be plus ultra. Theres actually quite a bit of evidence in favor of this relationship being romantic in nature sometime in the future. Lots of promotional art and cards seem to pair the two romantically, the movie adds some suggestive stuff as well theres a bunch of creator approved non canon material like the light novels and SMASH. And Hero aca already has a pretty strong basis of LGBT rep and horikoshi is definitively in the pro LGBT circles two trans characters and a decidedly non-binary hero. If the relationship doesnt become explicit it might be more to do with censorship and not creator agency. The representation might ( like much lgbt rep) need to rely on subtext and innuendo. Im under the impression that kirishima and bakugo are on some level romantically involved until disproven.

Also it's super clear that their characters were written with the explicit intention to be complementary to each other. Like just from a physical standpoint, they're super similar! Red eyes, spiky hair, sharp teeth (at least in some depictions for Bakugo), all that jazz, and of course their quirks mesh super well too so they're effective battle partners. And personality-wise, they're both very masculine, very driven, stop-at-nothing kind of people. The difference is that Kirishima is really just a kinder, more cooperative version of Bakugo! He's level-headed, sociable, good at mediating, and generally very likeable; he's essentially Bakugo's anger translator or his impulse control. One of the reason why I ship these two is because Kirishima is the only one who can actually have a regular relationship with Bakugou because if you think about it Kirishima is the only one who can talk to him without Bakugou biting there face off. I also ship them because they hang out together alot. So I do ship them but I think also there friendship is extremely strong.And also great job talking about the ship I loved the video. Bye bye!

I feel like you might find the other canonical part of My Hero Academia . Like bnha Smash, the 4-panel comics, and as well as the light novels. I like how the scenes add up across all the canon platforms to enforces the friendship. Even the cards for collection of the show talk about the two as one entity at times. Like Izuku talks about Kirishima and bakugo interactions almost every card about one or both of them in some way. I am looking forward to the next light novel because it has a confirmed scene of todoroki, iida, and midoriya following Denki and Meinta into an arcade only to run into Bakugo and Kirishima together. The synopsis says the boys do a photo booth for the first time but it doesn't specify who so the eastern part of the fandom is blowing up about them doing the photo sticker things that commonly done on dates. Have you thought about looking into finding English translation of the light novels as well? There is so much in them like the KiriBaku friendship is shown a lot more and how it developed even off screen.

I really hate it when people automatically write off all gay ships as “yaoi garbage” or something along those lines. i like a lot of what was said here! i do like the idea of these guys in a romantic relationship, *but* it doesn't need to be romantic for their connection to still be valuable. and i know people that prefer other pairings for one or both of these two, but can still recognize value in the interactions kirishima and bakugou have, and could have in the future. i'm the kind of person that tends to care more about characters than plot-lines, though. and if i have a bias in my arguments...i suppose that means a story has done its job making its audience feel something.
