As an ocg player I have to agree. Naturia runick actually has plays under maxx c, but many people would tell you why naturia when you can just flip floodgates. At this point it's floodgates choosing runick, not the other way around.

i think joshua would disagree with this statement, last time i checked he admitted to farfa runick stun is the best way to play runick

You have found a cool niche in YGO that is relatively un talked about. The actual players as opposed to the decks. Great stuff

I like this style of video, dissecting specific aspects of a match to highlight the depth of the decisionmaking in these competitive games.

There is a concept in chess that fully encapsulates what being discussed here. We often taught not to immediately deliver the checks to the king or capture pieces because in chess a threat is much stronger than the execution. I'm probably the 1% of YGO community that also play chess lol, but I think YGO players should definitely learn a bit of chess because there's a lot of similarities between both! Btw awesome video! Very unique content, educative but still short!

So before I played YGO I played Magic the Gathering, which was quite nice because the system of the stack (in YGO "chain") is rather the same. But also the system of tempo (as in chess) is there. If you have a threat and additional resources you can chill for a bit, as the opponent has to make your threat harmless first. My last deck was Dark World, a nice combo based deck, where you can pretty much deck yourself out everygame because you draw so much. I think my next one will be a stun deck, so I don't need to read so much anymore (because of my floodgates). The turned will be also quicker so that's nice as well.

Bro I was literally just explaining to my little brother how Yugioh and chess are very similar! Playing both (ass at chess lol) made me realize how similar they are in certain ways! I agree

It may not be the most optimal veraion, but every duelist that wants to win and will use cards the opponent wont respect, or can properly prepare for. People who play budget usually play more for fun or dont spend for the optimal versions.

Did Josh let fountain draw 3? Or the the other guy just never used that effect? If he let the draw 3 go I would agrue that's a hell of a misplay, 3 cards is alot of a chance for something to go horribly wrong.
@PhyYuGiOh Жыл бұрын
No Fountain only drew one for Dinh-Kha after the Runick Tip. Kha did not want to commit more cards into a fruitless play that would lose his Fountain. Kha did this to test whether Joshua wanted to use his Smashers there, if so, he would just have the extra cards necessary to reestablish a Runick Fountain and then find a draw 3. If Joshua used his Spright Smashers on the fountain attempt to draw 1, he would have actually lost the game almost instantly, as Dinh-Kha would just get another Fountain, draw 3, and overwhelm Joshua.
