I have also been seeing this same type of argument of people saying permanent OG will ruin Fortnite or it will take away resources from the main BR mode, I genuinely want to understand this view point but no matter how much I think about it, it doesn't make sense. Like the resources they would have taken are have already been taken, they just had to recreate the seasons 1-4 map and all they had to do was tweak seasons 7 and above to make them more accurate to how it was in actual chapter 1 since I did see a lot of complains about the latter half of OG not being super accurate so now that they had pretty much a year to make it, it's already done, all the resources it will take away from the game will be if there are a few bugs or whatever inconsistencies the map has, now that it's permanent if they missed in recreating a certain part of the map they can now go back and add it back in or patch it or for bugs, because otherwise what else are they gonna realistic add to OG? I suppose there is the argument if they do all the chapter 1 events but again that can just be set on a timer per season and they don't have to actively go back and add it. I think this mode won't be pretty resource heavy unlike festival and LEGO Fortnite which I agree have taken a lot of resources from the game given that the last few live events have not been the best, and as someone who has been on Fortnite since toward the end of s2, I am personally excited to go back to s1 as I've never played that one. I will be playing OG and chapter 6 simultaneously because I gotta admit sometimes I don't like that whenever I encounter a player their first action when they see me is shockwave away or hop in a nearby car, like man I'm trying to play the actual game here so it will be a nice change of pace to not have any mobility items (I play zero build btw that's why I imagine we won't see any mobility items in s1)

OG is guranteed to succeed…but that itself is the issue. Regardless of if it will take resources or not (it will), it absolutely will take away players from Chapter 6, and all future chapters. Plus, eventually, Chapter 1 OG will eventually become boring, because it will never change. The first time around, it’ll be a smash hit. The second time? Probably pretty popular. The 5th, 7th? 10th? 20th time around? OG will become boring.

Fortnite will never die it will become like Minecraft. People will have phases where they play the game a lot for a couple weeks then not touch it for 6 months and then come back again. Keeping og as a consistent mode will allow this to happen.

thats a valid point, however his point is also valid. like i know theres going to be people that will try it out sense it cant hurt to try. however, with OG literally being a 2nd option, it will only make people want to switch gamemodes instead of innovating and getting use to new mechanics. i also understand that thoes can be a minority of people that just cant get use to changes, i'm just saying that its going to be a lot harder for people to try to many new things when they have 2 gamemodes that is 1. a fun competitive gamemode that keeps the mechanics of og wile also using weapons from other chapters, with a changing map every hour aka reload. and 2. when they have a gamemode that is literally fortnites golden age that also has a changing map every month. even though i like the fact that OG is coming back permanently and reload still saving this game, there starting to give us less reasons to play br besides just to see whats new with it.

I think it will bring back old people, and these people will try to play the new modes, However, I think that older people who still play will go back to the old map. For the first few months, i think the comparable lack of content in C1S1-3 will leave C6S1 still at least decently played even by people who mainly came back for C1 mode, then imo how well C6 will do will fully depend on how good it is, and how many issues it has, if C6S1 has very few updates like C2S1 and C5S1, with bullet drop or other things people don't like, or if C6S2-4 are like C5, with strong themes and even stronger metas on those themes, it'll depend on how people like the themes and metas, similar to how reload was a place for those who didn't like the car meta or marvel meta

Another issue I have with this announcement is what about season OG? Like is season OG not even special anymore? The reason why that season worked is because we didn't get to be on the chapter 1 map for over 4-7 years and we finally got to get back on it. However, for this, we're getting it back MONTHLY and would just become stale and repetitive. While it will probably work for the first few seasons, after it resets when season X ends, people are just gonna get bored of it and stop playing the game, rendering the game mode kinda pointless

To me, this constant stream of classic Fortnite content just reeks of desperation. Because, Fortnite has always been moving forward, trying new things and gameplay, and rarely ever mentioning the past version of the game, until they did OG last year. After they saw the humongous jump in player count for that season, with it being their biggest ever. And then after that the player count quickly fizzled back down to what it was before OG. And now more than ever, they’re feeling the effects of the player count dropping so much over this past chapter. So in order to bring back old players, they are doing all this OG content to hopefully bring back those old players and keep them playing longer than one month. And the biggest reason I think it’s a sign of Fortnite being on the downward slope, is that if you’re Epic and you’re confident in the direction your game is going, you wouldn’t make OG into a permanent thing. It’s clearly a plea for the old players to come back and play their game and spend money.

Epic doesn't learn from their mistakes, this is just another try at holding up the player base because Chapter 6 will likely be another Chapter 5 like experience, more mechanics that will be abandoned in the first 2 seasons, unnecessary new weapons that function the same as old ones, new locations with no returning ones and more unbalanced shit as always to mess up with building. I disagree with your point regarding it being lazy. The truth is, Chapter 1 is not the same game as it is now. The game that was chapter 1 is the game that me and many others fell in love with. I have only played a handful of games since maybe chapter 2 because I simply haven't fallen in love with the game that is now. IMO chapter 1 should not necessarily be given much attention but should remain a separate continuous game. If this draws players away from chapt 6 then so be it, now we know which game is truly better.

Sorry Caspy but this ain’t it. I’m kinda tired of seeing all these “why OG will kill Fortnite” bs when in reality having a more classic feel mode isn’t bad. Think of it like an old game in a series or a classic version of a game like how RuneScape has it. Plus if Chapter 6 is god awful we have OG to fall back on

I will be playing both but chapter 6 having hitscan will be the deciding factor if I like chapter 6 and also the only season I’ve never played was chapter 1 season 1 so I am kind of excited to experience that and I don’t care how little poi’s there are I want to experience it for the first time my self just like if I played fortnite actually in season 1. I never even landed prison so I want to do that

For me, you know what was the weird thing that people never seem to bring up? You remember how when UEFN was announced, and you could finally make the og map and people were gassing it up like “we are so back, we are going home” and all? My question was why were people more excited about Fortnite being the one to bring it back (both this year & last year), compared to when they gave an Ok for people to create it themselves? Shouldn’t it have been something the entire community was excited for? Why didn’t those maps get thousands or millions of players? Last year I’ll give it a pass, mainly because it was a one month time thing, but it still feels odd that this is the one people are excited for. Other than that, while I will still play on it, I’m just hoping that the current/later chapters of fortnite doesn’t get left in the dust in terms of the story, updates, etc. (Admittedly, i didn’t look into exactly on what went wrong with the creative OG maps, but my point still stands)

If you really want a short simplified answer Epic harmed these creators and broke uefn tools multiple times including blacklisting certain features like the chapter 1 sky and also the loss of monetization. All of that brought Epic's attention ig and they decided to bring it back themselves

Istg I’m getting tired of constantly hearing “og” from FN. It’s like if card games CONSTANTLY reprinted their first set of cards just for the sake of it, I get it’s for absolute boomers who want their Gray Shotgun doing 200 as if that means it’s a good thing for the game. They’ve been absolutely wearing kid gloves with Chapter 1, but Chapter 2 HAD to have Rappers thrown in, Arguably Fortnite’s peak of Season 2 of Chapter 2, aside from the constant nostalgia bait. It’s like damn, if we’re constantly going back to supposedly good Fortnite… Where is my Chapter 4 og? Og Chapter 4 would bang. Idk man, unless this means they’re bringing back those Battle Passes I don’t think Imma play it unless Chapter 6 somehow ends up worse than 5.

Although this is not going to kill the game, it's pretty shamefull how epic is trying so hard to satisfy an audience that does not like or play fornite anymore. At least the people that is still obsesed with the OG fornite now have a confort zone. Don't misread me, i'm liking the current season and i liked the first OG season, but this game must go on.

og fn will bring alot more players back than it'll take away from main br, most people who are playing the game now will more than likely be playing both and not just one or the other so in terms of splitting the playerbase too much, it won't. More eyes will be drawn to the game = more people potentially playing the game = more people trying out chapter 6. All in all it's a major positive.

Personally ill wait before i judge tbh i think the mode is a good idea having a second map to play on will keep players coming imo. However i also see less people might play ch 6 then again there might be twice as many players online. I like the options of what to play tbh but thats just me.
