ClassicHmongMusic As you get older you may come to see that with success and prosperity comes jealousy and envy hidden behind smiles and praise. I'm sure he isn't a lone wolf in the deepest sense, he is married after all, but you have to understand that more people enjoy seeing you fall down that rise up, unless they can mooch off you without limits and even then they dislike you more times than not because they fail to see that your gains are the result of hard work in the gym, life, or whatever.
@JonathanRushTexasFootball9 жыл бұрын
ClassicHmongMusic I'm 44 and can imagine. I watched Pumping Iron and they did seem more friendly, but remember back then the sports industry wasn't as big and neither was the prize money. I don't think Phil wins because of politics though. If you look at his wins IMO he was the most complete package as far as symmetry coupled along with size. Kai lacked certain cuts last Mr. O he competed in and although his lat spread was bigger/thicker he lacked balance. Now, honestly, yes the grapefruit thing and G4P has affected his chances of winning. Imagine the memes that would mock the O if he were to win! Sandow in one hand, grapefruit in the other... he screwed himself (and the grapefruit).

+Jonathan Rush Thats the thing people have to remember, this man's source of income is predicated on his success with his body and his body alone, so why would you ever rely on someone else to help dictate that body therefore success. Thats the way i see it anyways. Of course now he has his own company as income as well and what not as well but still.

I agree with Phil. I wanna train the way I want and when I want, plus my workout plan may not work for someone else. I don't need anybody to push me or motivate me because I know why I do this. Even if I am a Kai Greene fan, this is a video where I really liked some of the things that Phil Heath said. The situation where your partener doesn't come and you feel bumped and not as motivated is pretty accurate. Plus the self control and self responsability things, yeah man, I respect that.

Couldn't agree more his reasoning in the latter part of the video, about training partners not showing up. That's why I train alone, although it does suck at times. I feel like creating novelty by going to different gyms or including a partner here and there is a good way to keep things fresh.

Speaks the truth right there. To many people depend on a partner to get motivated or fired up to lift so when they do have to workout alone they half ass it or don’t even go to the gym. If someone needs a buddy or a partner to motivate them to grind through a workout than imo it’s maybe time to find another activity to take up. So many guys who lift regularly still look like shit cause once they leave the gym their buddy is not there to hold them accountable anymore and they don’t have the motivation to do anything by themselves so their eating habits are horrible.
