Why Play Nighthaunt In 3rd Edition Warhammer Age Of Sigmar?

Todays video topic we're looking at are some reasons why you might want to play Nighthaunt in the current edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

I told my friend i was interested in Nighthaunt, he already has 3 AoS armies and he just gave me his Nighthaunts. Looking at the cons I'm not seeing any so I'm pretty stoked to play with them.

A con for me is just the ratio between their wounds and damage, but other things like abilities and the swarm style characteristics of most units, balances it out.

I make NH my project in 2023. I just discovered AoS for me after been not in this TT-hobby for about 15 years and thought it could be a good army for restart (and the minis are cool too,of course!). I bought a vanguard and a battleforce box to start and am excited as hell. ☺️ Thx for this Video,dude

Welcome to the Nighthaunt family! :D The vanguard and battleforce boxes will certainly keep you busy! ^^ Nighthaunt really is an awesome range of models and also has fantastic lore and rules that feel like they fit the ghostly, ethereal aesthetic they give, so perfect all round for hobby aspects! :) I'm glad you found the video useful, if there's anything else you'd like to see feel free to let me know. Thanks for sharing some cons as well as pros for this faction! I didn’t think about the models being fragile. Kids and cats may be their biggest counter 😆

This is what I was looking for. Might be jumping to AoS until/if 40k 10th just ain’t it, and yea, kill team exists, I like it, and HH also exists and is fun, and the models I have painted are usable in either. Not really a fantasy guy. If I’m reading/writing, more fantasy, but games I like my sci-fi, so AoS flew under my radar. Took a glance at the factions, didn’t like em, except nighthaunt. Aggressive spooky ghosts with beautiful models and (unintentionally I’ll add) rules that I like? Hell yeah.

Glad to have been of help for you CMTechnica!! Nighthaunt certainly are a fantastic army to take into your AoS venture. Lots of fun to be had and awesome hobby stuff to go with it. :) If you're unsure on diving fully into a fantasy setting you could try out Warcry which is AoS's version of Kill Team IMO. Has different core rules to AoS but will give you a feel without breaking the bank to play it. ^^

DEA you must have read my mind! haha. I just made a new video talking all about it and breaking down it's value. Overall I think it's a great boxset and deal for anyone getting newly into Nighthaunt aslong as the price is around that of what they where last year. And for people already into NH collections then it can be situational use to you depending how much you value the units that come in this box. ^^

It's a tough choice for sure that one. Both armies look amazing and have both their pros and cons. They can be pretty similar but also very different armies depending on how you want to play/build lists. At the end of the day I would look into the lores of the armies and the aesthetics of the ranges and see which one captures your imagination more as from a rules perspective they come and go and change but the look/lore and feel of the armies stays. :)

Nighthaunt is very melee focused, and from what I’ve seen, Slaves to Darkness is less melee and more varied.

@@CMTechnica Slaves is more melee focused being completely honest The shooting is rare, niche, VERY short ranged and bad at best

Is there a dungeon crawler game this Nighthaunt can be used in? I know they can't be used in SOH or Silver Tower so just wondering as I've recently been playing the PC game called Stome Ground which has nighthaunts and would love to know if there's a tabletop game similar to the PC game

That's awesome Jamie! Its always fun when you can see them come to life outside the tabletop! :D I can't say I'm all too familiar with many of the AoS games outside of the tabletop. That said I know there was a PC game version of Underworlds which was a direct port of the tabletop game with warbands and cards. I'm pretty sure you can use Nignthaunt in that. But I would advise to look it up before buying in as I'm not 100% on that and don't play the PC version myself. ^^

Are they as difficult to build as I'm thinking?

I guess that all comes down to the individual at the end of the day. I hear alot of people struggle with Spirit Hosts and Bladegheists. For me personally I have no issues putting Hosts together but I did find the Bladeghesits tricky. The hardest thing about building NH is because the kits backs often come in two halves it can be a little tricky/time consuming to make that slight gap in their backs fit flush. But if it doesn't bother you personally, you don't have to deal with it and no real problems. But even so, its just a little extra time and care to make those gaps go away. :)
