Much of the sound was recorded,, as I recall at military training facilities by their own dev team. Having been to the army and played PR many many hours I can honestly say PR has the most realistic sound effects with no close competitors. The raw sounds are on another level.

Honestly it depends what stance you're doing. We sometimes do a similar exercise. Run 300 with helmet, vest (ceramic), 6 magazines and rifle. Limited time to run and fire at the target, 5 bullets crouch position, 5 bullets prone. As I'm entering the firing zone I slow down to a walk, crouch position, stabilize for a few seconds with controlled breathing and only then begin to fire. It just takes a little practice but it is something that can be improved by technique.

4:20 as a veteran I can say that sometimes you think the target is right on your sight but the bullets just go somewhere else especially when you’re rapid firing. From the gameplay in this video the recoil looks very realistic

Games these days avoid controversy and negative traction so they don't cover everything interesting about historical conflicts, on the other hand PR slapping us with so much content from multiple conflicts controversial or not;80s British vs Argentina, IDF vs Hamas, Afghanistan, etc. I love this game for having balls of steel.

I love this game for having balls of steel too, i mean the Insurgents are just "Insurgents", including the Militia are just "Militia" But they do have the FSA, Taliban and Hamas which is cool (there was gonna be a mod to add ISIS but that mod was put into a pause, no idea if it will be ever worked on) Also in Operation Flashpoint, with huge modding capabilities, we will most likely see controversial faction mods rise

So many great memories. I remember back in 2008 being a squad leader at age 15 and was amazed and makes me smile to this day how no one judged my age on my team (most of the team was 30-40 years old) and we would call in JDAM’s, destroy fob’s/caches, and shoot insurgents with a CROW hmv on Kohat & Hookers server. Funny later as I got older did I realize the meaning. Countless memories. Fullujah, Corengal Valley, Muttrah City… such iconic maps and this game was way ahead of its time. Still such an amazing structure and detail to sound, weaponry, vehicles. Will always remember starting top side of a US Carrier on Muttrah, hopping into a Huey with my squad and talking to the pilot to “show us what you got”. The amount of skill these pilots had with those Huey’s and the ability to speed land, flip, and even fly upside down before it was later patched but my favorite memory is coming into downtown and watching a MEC AA missile fly completely through the cabin dodging the 8 other US soldiers and continuing through into the sky. Watched it in slow motion real time. I fucking love Project Reality and always will. Hope one day for new memories on a updated engine to relive those moments. My old username was ChoonB but sadly I never kept in contact with old friends I made ingame. I had about 30 or so friends I made fighting together. Great times

The servers are ridiculously petty when it comes to bans and kicks. Times I got banned or kicked in PR: 1. I was a Noob playing on Hog, it was on Fallujah West. I had a bomb truck and ran it into a road block and blew them all up. I got perma banned. I wasn't aware of the 20 Vs 20 asset rule at the time and didn't see chat telling me not to do it. I did get unbanned but it was a severe pain in the ass. 2. I was on Bijar Canyons, on U777, I had just joined the server and got into a squad. I said "Whats up bitches!" and got banned for awhile. I can't remember the amount but it was more then a few days. (And they wonder why Hog gets more players) I try to avoid U777 now. 3. The most recent was on Hog, on Khamisiyah. The server was full. It was the end of the game (roughly the last 3 minutes) Our team got fucked and we, the whole squad, decided to drop our kits, run to across the map to the enemy, and fist fight them. I think we all got banned for 3 hours. Running around for those 3 minutes was very fun.

In squad there is no squad leaders giving orders, and squad members dont even listen to them. Also in squad people scream and troll around which ruins the whole purpose of the game. Im playing PR since BETA. And since then I never find another Multiplayer Game with the same feel and comunication. YES, the graphics they are not the best , but the mechanics and sounds effects are awesome! And the community is awesome. Long live to PR!

Squad might have the fancy graphics, refined controls and new engine, but there is just something about PR:BF2 that will always make me love it, and prefer it over Squad. Plus I do not expect to ever be able to fight on the Falklands in squad , or play nasheeds over the radio in my Yugo van while I drive my squad headfirst into an entire IDF regiment and pray for the best. Project Reality is an incredible game indeed

PR offers that what other shooters, even Squad, cannot seem to offer. You actually have firefights in PR because of their deviation and suppression system, it conveys real life nerve twitching and aligning the barrel+the ironsight+your body+breathing quite well. Better than any other game to date imo. Its not easy arcade point and click system that you have in Squad. Oh, and Fallujah in PR. Amazing map. Tons of endearing memories during all those years. Never gets old.

Funny personal story about the admins over policing the servers: A game had just started set in the faklands war. PRTA had a reputation of killing its own servers, Golden Pilot, an admin of that server would always hop into the server when it had almost a full server playing and he would change the map immediately and the game mode to insurgency and less than 10 minutes later the server was almost empty lol

For anyone wondering, the server he is talking about at the end is the "HOG server". Most of those admins are boomers with near to no patience whatsoever, so do yourself a favour and if you hear someone that sounds over the age of 30-ish near you, think 3 times before you act, speak, etc.

4:30 Experienced with full auto AKM, 74 and ar15 type rifles, with decent military training the close range shots like youve mentioned are extremely unrealistic. in RL even looking over your rifle not down the sights accurate shots indoors are easy(with the right posture), also in full auto. for the rest of the ranges and effects with PR im really pleased. let me tell you another story abt admin policing things, so me and my clanmates were playing this match on a certain server, i decided to give my squad a name as "nasi goreng" which translates to "fried rice", 20 minutes after the match has started, an admin warned us to change our squad name or we'll be kicked. we don't want to be kicked out so in the middle of map, while capping we disbanded our squad and changed into something else. we actually didn't mean to name our squad "naz*" or similar like that, "nasi goreng" is just my favorite food, and i think i just want to name it like that. anyway, good video bro. i still remember that "Squad For Free" video 👀 but yeah, i really love how Project Reality has so much more content, over 27 factions with a gigantic arsenal (most being AR-15s and AKs), the "bullet dispersion" is a thing that makes my blood boil in PR though i understand (since most times you'd die in 1-3 hits), and i have heard plenty of "horror stories" of abusive admins, and speaking of shooting people in black, OWI the devs of Squad support BLM and wasted 15K to them, so there goes all respects to them but anyways, Project Reality will always be awesome

Coming from the army, Arma 2 - OA feels most accurate = clunky to get in position and get out your weapon or turn around and aim, but once you're aiming down the sight you pretty much hit what you aim at. The recoil in PR is utter unrealistic, and most recoils only kicks backwards and into your shoulder, not making your gun fly up in the air. So for realism: First Arma, then Squad, then PR.

Real problem with Squad is its (bad) decision to appeal to the casual crowd. It's not just the gunplay(it has too much bullet drop compared to IRL unlike PR). It's the lack of balance, the permanent rally points, the lack of deterrence to givingup(in PR giving up after going down costs another ticket, and you lose your special kit until you can grab it from where you died, or someone else does it for you - or keep it for themselves)...etc. In PR you can target SL and medic first to make enemies a lot less able to come back to life(SL is needed to drop temporary rally to get squad back together, only medic kit can revive people). In Squad, it doesn't really matter who you shoot. It's a watered-down experience with better graphics(recent shadow overhaul made it look better on screenshots but plays much worse due to far darker shadows than IRL and such, the attempt to "fix" the problem with hollywood muzzleflashes didn't really help and it made game even less realistic), that costs money, that still gets bottlenecked by singlecore cpu performance(PR gets bottlenecked by one, Squad gets bottlenecked by two cores, that's the main difference). Squad doesn't have FCS for vehicles while PR does, PR just has so much more. I originally kickstarted Squad when I was led to believe this would be PR without the engine limitations, but as you can see all these years later - still singlecore bottleneck(except you need more cores just to be able to run the game), poor optimization(some maps really screw with performance on gpu-side too, like fallujah and the new black coast), same blufor bias, still no fastrope, and you get extra bs like dysfunctional tank coax(switching to it requires reload of tank main gun, otherwise tank could swap ammo to fire faster) and scope being even more of a necessity(because viewdistances can be up to 1000m for enemy infantry, plus the exaggerated bullet drop means you can't just point at a pixel, you also need to look at where bullet landed in relation to that pixel). 5:20 that's because Squad's "insurgency mode" doesn't have civilians, unlimited tickets for insurgents, Lashkar cave(it removed the caves when owi bought the map from modders; there was at least one hole where basement extrances...etc. was) caches...etc.(you know, the whole point of INS mode) Which, again, is part of the casual nature of Squad(civilians are too complicated for the average squad player's "intelligence"; lack of kit system also means civilians can't pick up gun from the ground, there is also lack of waterjug IED, tripwire grenade...etc.). 7:47 pretty sure that guy went to work on Squad, but I think he's just doing random stuff to try to keep his job because he kept screwing with AK firing sounds(mostly for the worse). And due to performance reasons, there's no proper audio occlusion. 11:18 - Squad has the opposite problem, part of OWI(*cough*nordic*cough*) was so racist he got cancelled after being exposed(on top of getting caught on stream cheating with admincam), there are also servers that consider *very obviously racist term that I can't post here* to be not-racist. The way squad gathers casuals for more sales(duh owi needs to make money, btw almost none of the exPR devs are still at owi) results in big name streamers getting paid, noobs flood into the game (which lacks official comprehensive tutorial unlike PRmanual), Squad still needs experienced players(again, lack of manual) despite the lack of depth, so everyone gets terrible gameplay experience, old and new. That makes new players see the game as pretentious bs(and for the most part, it is) as they just do the usual "walk for miles from main base and get shot by invisible enemy" and quit. Experienced players figured out the shallowness of Squad after playing a while (on top of experience getting ruined every sale/freeweekend/streamer horde event), obviously they're out of time for steam refund, so they quit; the game fails to retain the players it needed to have consistently decent rounds, so OWI needs more sales -> rinse and repeat. So Squad ironically isn't that different from PR in the worst parts. And it doesn't have the gameplay of PR, and it costs money.

ive been playing PR since release there is nothing like it. even 15 years later it still holds up and every game is different. the community is what makes this game you will find no teamwork in an online shooter like this anywhere.

_every single day_ calling a Co-Op server that takes 20-50 people isn't a full server. A full server is on Friday and Weekend being US or EU servers. That is the days where you can see 1-2-3 full servers. Throughout the week, you've days if you've 20 players avg (not counting Co-Op players). And Project Reality has one wonderful thing that e.g Squad doesnt. Sure isn't pretty and lacks a lot of things compare to Squad, but Squad is in a open-source engine, PR isn't. Recently the ability to drag bodies, multiple-vehicle seats (more than the 6-8 from battlefield 2 default), FCS (Fire-Control System) for Vehicles, overhaul of the Interface (better quality and some gampleay renew visual effects (the bleed effect)) Squad lacks Gameplay flow, games take to long, a lot of _stalemates_ The point you get tickets back while the other losses it, just makes the matches longer, assets comparing we can't compare, PR has been in developer for logner than Squad, had more time to add and tune existing vehicles (fromy our basisc M1 Abrams BF2 to a proper semi-module-simulation M1 and others). PR show real and fictitious scenarios/wars, has a tons of weapons, gear, equipment, assets, everyone fill a role, is a team-player based actions, no simulated in-game assets (like the CAS from Squad) CAS can fuck up by dropping on friendlies or crashing, not because commander with a squad gave by guidence (not just that). PR has the great thing of being a free game, not free to play, it's just free, standalone game that was originally a Battlefield 2 - Total Modification. To be honest, I don't care about visuals because PR does it well with the engine it has. PR Gameplay, with more practical and update mechanics (not limited by the engine) is how a lot of people thought squad was going to be, and people that usually stay in Squad are non-PR players, PR players come back to PR, they used to move to Squad but in months they would come back, what i've see recently a lot Transaction to ArmA 3 due to ArmA 4 (refoger showing off what it can do when modernised) so people trying to get use to ArmA (terrain and operation realism) vs a more closed-operation like Squad and PR. But unlike Squad, Let hell lose or Post scriptum do better WW2 than PR, same to rising storm 2 vietnam does better vietnam in CQB, PR still kicks it on balls in general flooage combat. and non related to PR, those squad you say they are _portuguese_ brazilian portuguese to be correct, when you mentioned portuguese or "european" portuguse you refer to portugue from portugal, you rarely see any portugueses in the game anymore.

el primer mod de bf2 que jugué, inmediatamente noté gráficos como el battlefield "vietnam" dije; bueno, el vietnam es un buen juego. entro a una partida coop en linea y veo q la acción está muy lejos de mi punto de spawn, rápidamente noté un montón de tanques listos para usar wow! entro.. pero no hace nada, ni siquiera entra al tanque! luego me entero q tienes q tener cierto nivel para manejar un tanque.. bah, bueno voy corriendo.. al rato me sale una advertencia de q si no disparo, o mato a alguien, yo q se!, me rajan o no se muy bien, lo q empieza a ser molesto. finalmente llego y veo un bot y este me dispara, no me mata, pero de pronto se pone negra la pantalla y mi personaje comienza a jadear como loco wow q real [...] ya pero dura una eternidad [...] [...] [...] dios santo no se por donde ir, ni q hacer a ciegas.. juego de mierda encima se me laguea todo como si fuera q el servidor está en la luna, houston tenemos un problema, alguien descargó una poronga de 11GB que se ve como el orto y sus mecánicas de juego son horribles. subidas de 450 de ping en cualquier servidor para mi, cuando en otros tengo menos de 80, pesimamente optimizado, por supuesto no es todo malo.. tiene cosas muy buenas pero yo no le di tiempo porque pensé q su carta de presentacion me pareció muy poco atractiva por decirlo de alguna forma, lo lamnento por todos los hicieron los mapas y demás cosas pero la mecánica es espantosa. a veces juego a forgotten hope 2 ese si está bien echo

I can agree, i started playing back in 2009 when servers were packed. Last time i really saw a lot of people playing was back in 2015 - 17 you would still see plenty of servers with pop. Was great back then but this is definitely best when played way back when
