The funny part about the word professional when in regards to science is that the etymology of the word, declares the meaning to be religious in connotation. Professing one’s own vows to a religious order. Anybody in the know is aware of the fact that science is a branch of religion.

Dear Rabbi Simon: I am delighted with this lecture in every way. It exceeded my expectations, and those were already rather high having listened to a few of your discourses by this writing. For clarity (since you have millions of interlocutors): I am a Christian, literary scholar (writer, poet, etc, as well), Harvard educated intellectual, your generation (b. 1957), and have read a great deal since early childhood. Can't stand Freud: he did so much damage! As a Mother/Grandmother, I now see in my own family, up close & very personal, the extraordinary amount of damage done by those toxic conclusions SigFr imposed on anyone who would listen to him. How can any intelligent scientist extrapolate from a small set of patients (in Sigmund's case) or acquaintances conclusions of such monumental import, and everyone just acquiesces in their adoption??? I felt this way as a teenager, when the great Anne Wallach (sister of the better-known Pauline Kael) first introduced our advanced English Lit class to the ideas & legacy of SigFr. She was one of my favorite teachers ever; I enjoyed studying with her intensely, for 3-4 years; we became friends for life. For women, in particular, and for women who eventually become Mothers (which is most of the women on earth), Freud's profound inability to discern Differences in human beings, even in human beings presenting with "similar clinical symptoms," is extremely distressing, because we wind up running into either husbands, or in-laws, or schoolteachers, or pediatricians, or future sons/daughters-in-law who accept all that nonsense on faith, as if it were no less than Divine Revelation. When it comes to Psychology as a discipline, I would much rather see people pay more attention to the information shared by Jean Piaget, who first articulated Child Development Science. And I would go so far as to say that Piaget's observations and interpretation of how very young human beings first begin to access and process this world is much more closely reliant on an appreciation for that concept you have recapitulated here, again, of the Soul as the Divine Breath, the intricately complex Expression of Divine Will and Divine Purpose. Which is, no, not for "power" (God has All Power, why would God crave more power?); nor for "pleasure" (most pleasures quickly grow stale; we know that if we take our favorite activity to the extreme, we will eventually tire of it and seek a break, if only to discuss the merits of a performance); but - quite self-evidently - for Meaning. For Significance. Whether you think of Meaning as a Unit (like a dollop of the finest cream in your favorite something), or as a Proliferation (sprinkles on ice cream, or kisses from your baby or grandbaby), the fact is that all Meaning has constituent parts, and as such is A Composition. As is your lecture here. That I could easily turn into a 4-hour conversation (the Art of Conversation being one of those distinctly human gifts that neither Freud, nor Nietzsche, and certainly not the juvenile Dawkins, ever excelled at), but since we are all limited by the obligations we have willingly assumed, to care for others and to Help Heal (as you so appropriately put it here) - to Undo Harm Done (because, yes, harm was done, and some people even committed suicide over what they were led to believe about themselves through those warped, dehumanizing approaches) - I shall simply submit this little note for your perusal. We shall continue the conversation another time, even in Eternity, the Almighty permitting.

I still maintain that view even though the exploiters seem to gain in numbers by the day. Would be interested to hear from Rabbi Simon on Carl Jung. Jung was deep into Alchemy which historically has had a very close relationship with Kabbalah. Some say many of the ideas of Kabbalah were symbolically codified into Alchemy, and to be able to understand it a comprehensive understanding of Kabbalah is required.

The level of intensity fluctuates according to time and place, but it can be stated as a truth that religion does not, and in the long run cannot, be content with its own marvelous claims and sublime assurances. It must seek to interfere with the lives of nonbelievers, or heretics, or adherents of other faiths. It may speak about the bliss of the next world, but it wants power in this one.

The bronze age is when of alot great people taught greatness.. Happiness and love does not need religion to discover.. Religion can be good or bad depending on the person. No person is the same. . Like u said some can use it for bad while some use it for good and i dont think its just jews that have psychological issues.. I think all humankind has psychological issues due to pressure to follow evil deeds and not care for others like we know we should

I think that this sermon is very interesting, and is basically about the feminine and masculine brain hemispheres. And getting over the trenches in the holocaust by imagining hanging on to the coattails of loved ones, is definitely of the spirit and creativity found in the feminine right hemisphere of the brain. Freud was TOTALLY left brained. 😂 Have you ever listened to the interesting stories of those humans that have experienced near death experiences (NDE’s)? I have the belief that to heal a broken person, it can really help to know the family dynamics of the patient’s early formative years, as well as their personal astrological birth chart (time of birth, included). And then compare and combine that birth blueprint with the current movements of the planets in the heavens, called “transits.” Sometimes, when you dive even deeper and take a look at the astrological charts of their family members and spouses, you can really solve some intricate puzzles and finally answer “why’s” of it all, and finally heal the dis-ease of generational and marital dysfunction. And also find out just how long the uncomfortable and challenging times will last in an individual’s life, by observing the timing of the heavenly planetary transits, leading to hope and an ability to endure. But many depressed or suicidal people begin to believe that there is no end in sight, and subsequently leave life behind. Astrology and Astronomy (transits) combined, are like God’s clockwork - and probably why the Catholic Church outlawed astrology and separated it from astronomy. There we go with the separation of the brain hemispheres, again. Astrology is really animated mathematics in motion, just like music is, and the life of an individual, or the life of a nation. And as my mother once told me as a child: This whole reality is based on numbers and measurements. There is also hidden astrology in the Bible. Look into the hidden astrological secrets in the painting of The Last Supper. ❤
