Hi Michele! I was damaged and ultimately diagnosed with PTSD as a result of multiple traumas from my time in the military, including sexual trauma and abuse. I've learned through thousands of hours of therapy and group work at my VA hospital to manage most of the symptoms of that PTSD. Unfortunately, I ended up in a marriage with a nasty narcissist who was far more abusive to me than any other human I have ever met on this earth and I now experience perpetual daily complex PTSD symptoms. In my humble and personal opinion, narcissistic abuse is the worst kind of abuse that one can experience. Narcissistic abuse so insidious...it is ongoing, not a singular incident....😈 it gets to our souls.....Your explanation of this, Michele, is so accurate and I thank you....🙏

I love your channel and thank you! I was married 23 years and this is what I was lead to believe. I had a very good therapist and have been divorced 9 years and was thriving until this past year. What I didn't know was that my ex abuser husband had been slowly alienating my children. They're 27, 21, 17 now and (this sounds crazy, but we all know how these things are real) he has turned up the dial to make them cut me out. It didnt happen earlier because he did NOT want to have to be a full time parent. I'm back in constant cptsd form and physically shivering 80% of the day. I'm so sad for anyone experiencing this.

Big hugs from me too. One of my two children at 21 has cut off contact with me. It is frustrating! It might be because of anger against me or alienation from his father against me or cptsd aka rumination, depression, isolation after a childhood with a narc father. I dont know. I continue Thriving though. I have to. This marriage has been the deepest learning lesson in my life. I am so sad for other people to experience narcissistic relationship.

I was managing to keep my mental health in check pretty well and able to put out the small fires he was setting, but it all came to a head when my youngest was experiencing many other stressers from the pandemic, it was too much and he has been in the hospital 4+ times since March for things no parent wants to experience. The narcissist doesn't understand emotions. He does get pretty happy about getting to control our son with meds, now. How can we help others/mental health professionals understand this abuse narcissists employ?
@allywolf9182
@allywolf9182 3 жыл бұрын
@@puppetproblems2935 I would simply explain your ex has mental health issues. That he suffers from a Cluster B disorder. Which is on the same spectrum as a sociopath. And just like sociopaths, they appear to be fairly normal or maybe even extra perfect until that part of them that is dysfunctional is exposed.

I can relate to what you said about how narcissistic abuse affects our relationship with others because after narcissistic abuse I find it hard to trust my judgment of who is safe to be with, so how can I go about trusting another human being? Yes I could also relate to think that there was something wrong with me rather than with the narcissistic abusive person. I was thinking maybe I was saying the wrong thing or didn't understand some situation. It took me years to trust myself and to learn that not everyone has my best interests at heart.

among professionals like psychologists and psychiatrists, narcissistic abuse is largely unknown or minimised or denied! This is very problematic when they are the only ones validated by the welfare system!!!!! I believe this is not taught by the system on purpose since the system is narcissistic by essence and most people once they have a diploma do not question any further but only believe what they have been taught as truth.... this is very problematic that most people in the psychological field do not question what they are taught and know nothing about trauma.... same for doctors and psychiatrists

Yes, I did think it was me for quite while.. I have been in my relationship 40 years..my 2nd relationship ever as well as his..drugs(first 3 years)then alcohol played a very big part of the first 16 years..I tried to end the relationship many, many times. Was tired of being alone with our kids..kids grew up..I'm still with him. He has had many traumatic brain injuries before an after we met. Can this cause narcissism & can anything be done to open his eyes to it.
