In light of recent events with the Kendrick Lamar vs Drake beef, it felt like a good time to make this video. Rap beef has been a cornerstone of hip-hop for decades and throughout the years the main winners of rap beef hasn't been the artist themselves, but rather the labels which own the rights of said artists. In this video we explore why exactly record labels love rap beef while going down memory lane to discuss Tupac vs Biggie, Nas vs Jay-Z and 50 Cent vs Ja-Rule.

Do you think the Kendrick vs Drake beef was label orchestrated?

If it was, it was a long play. Breadcrumbs have been around long ago. To debate the idea, Kendrick has won public perception while tearing Drake's down, taking hits on the UMG side and as well as Drake's Nike.

Shock record labels stirring up beef for profits. Great video, you should do one discussing record label profits after the death of artists.

It doesn’t matter whether attention is good or bad , whether it harms people or not , it brings in money and these rappers are only seen as things that companies can monetise from.

Half and half, labels definitely encourage the beef (for profit) but people have been waiting to bring down Drake for some time now😅

@@economicsofentertainment I mean it's just a hunch beacuse megan is now doing her own independent lable but after nicki responded to hiss it just seems megan is now trying tirelessly to get nicki's attention again but even if megan is now an independent rapper that still doesn't mean things couldn't be going on behind the scenes

I think record labels encouraged Drake and Kendrick's beef, but Drake had it coming tho because there had been a lot of rumours about him that were questionable like BBL's and fake ab surgery lol
