Wives must submit to their husbands and Husbands must love their wives as Christ loved the church. The latter seems to be the harder. We men must die daily to ourselves and sacrifice everything for our brides.

Love is intangible and submission isn't. It's a lot easier to claim love than submission.

Yes, unless the husband thinks it's okay to act out his anger, aggression, intimidation, arrogance, psychological, character damage on his wife and children!! Walked out during 10 yr wedding anniversary with baby 1yr 7mth in arms because his constant abuse weakened me and I felt like I was dying physically and spiritually inside. Needed to get some space to rejuvenate and drink deeply of God's living waters to restore my soul. A few years later during COVID, he wanted to try again so I re-entered the marriage and marital home, older and wiser. Having tried everything, I'm now convinced, I will leave my marriage permanently separated because he was much more intense with his abuse. It is obvious to me that he doesn't want to follow the narrow pathway which I am destined to go.

Can you get the marriage annulled? It sounds like he never intended to truly commit to in sickness and in health even if he said so.

When you say abuse is it physical ? Women make up a lot of abuse to be mental when it’s just her husband not agreeing to her whimps. If you walk out be ready to lead a life as a single person.

I agree. These "husbands" want respect, are they kidding me? They run their wife like a work horse and still expect more and wonder whats wrong? ! They dont communicate, they dont take care of themselves, they dont help consistently with the home that they live in. They drain their energy on porn and are not happy with the gift they choose to marry. Women be very selective...vet carefully and for a long time. Best thing, no sex till marriage, you'll scare off the losers quick.

@@jorgepenaloza6834really? Is there a saint who endured (by choice) her child's bones being broken by her husband? I've always understood the correct thing to do would be to get to a safe place with the children while getting help for the husband from a distance. You don't necessarily divorce, but I wouldn't think you leave your children in a physically hazardous relationship. Children have been killed by abusive parents.

@@jorgepenaloza6834 how you could "carry a cross" if the child is molested? It's not about this particular woman - it's about stopping the abuse of the child / children.

The best advice a father could give a daughter is to not sign a contract to satisfy the man's need for commitment.
@SleeveHeart
@SleeveHeart 16 сағат бұрын
And what about her need for commitment?
@jamescastro2037
@jamescastro2037 13 сағат бұрын
@SleeveHeart commitment is shown in action, not written or spoken. The use of a contract is a false representation of being in love. You are in a (con)tract, not a committed relationship. The woman should expect to be looking to be loved. But most people today are looking to not be lonely.

What does it mean on the daily to respect someone? Sometimes that’s buttoning your lips and bowing your head in prayer. Other times, it’s calling him on. Going to war with him (against him) for the sake of his soul. How to do this is so unique to each marriage and each person. One of THE BEST things my mother did for us was leave my dad. Never for a second did we think she was divorcing him. She should have left much sooner. Only then did he wake up. This of course was done with much counsel and prayer. 8 years of marriage has taught me that there is not one way to be married

Where is that in the Bible? Women should be obedient to God by respecting their husbands and not making them have to earn it. Women are not responsible for the husband’s response or reaction. She is only responsible for her own.

Single people: Don't be afraid to set hard standards...if someone disrespects you before marriage, they will disrespect you in marriage. Make sure you hold yourself to the same standard. Be wise, let them go and hold out for someone who will. Conflict and disagreement is possible without disrespectful behavior, and it's often indicative of great immaturity.
