You deserve a lot more recognition man, you been a core component in my recent understanding of music theory and what to practice, I’ve been playing 6 years and am just starting to finally understand the instrument in a more intellectual level. What id do for a teacher like you in person!

That means a lot, so glad you're finding the videos helpful! For what it's worth, I've been teaching online guitar lessons to students from California to Switzerland to Australia since the start of the pandemic so it is possible to have lessons with me even though we likely aren't neighbours! If you have any questions feel free to reach out through my website, thanks for watching!

I can concur this restriction method is the way forward. Ive been the 'jack of all trades master of none' self taught player (as you know 😅) and since scaling back my backing tracks to follow this method I am seeing the progress. I find the slower the bpm or long the progression (2 bars per chord) gives me breathing space/time to triad hunt and expand from there and build up from snails pace which feels frustrating at first but well worth it

Unfortunately when practicing frustration often equals progress!

Another great lesson, thank you. One recommendation….. leave the mistakes in. Like Guthrie says…. No extra charge for mistakes 😅. And makes it more relate able ❤

Goddamn. It seems I have struck gold. I am exactly in the options paralysis phase going into even structuring my solos. This helped massively. You are an amazing teacher. Thank you! Much love!

Are you moving the arpeggios / pentatonics with the chords when you're improvising? E.g. around the 6 minute mark, I can't tell if you're just playing from the key tone pentatonic or working your way through B minor, D minor, Eb major in line with the chords as they progress. Great video anyway, thanks!

I'm changing arpeggios/pentatonics on each chord yes! The shapes all overlap due to them all being closely related and sharing many common tones. But that was what I was illustrating is being able to switch thinking between these shapes to be specific to each chord! Glad you enjoyed the video!
