I loved Ricky Van Shelton & his beautiful voice. To me he was the male equivalent of Patsy Cline. He could sure sing those ballads. I saw him at the Universal Amphitheater in the 80s or 90's. I knew about his disagreement with the CMA's & thought that was the problem. Thanks for the info.

I love Ricky Van Shelton. His music is wonderful , one of those old time country western musicians. We miss you and you take care of you. Country music has become any thing but western. It's always good to see the rare stars coming back into western country music.

He has an amazing voice. I've always loved his music and I still listen to him today. I'm proud of him for getting over his alcoholism. That's 1 thing that is hard to do and ppl do have slip ups. He did what he thought was right and I applaud him for that. He shouldn't have to change his music cuz someone wants it to be more rock.

Ricky gave up the Country Music scene after discovering the true reality of how it works, and after so many years, he had enough of the BS that was happening in Nashville.

Nothing wrong when a country star, just vanishes when people are driving them crazy. Leave them alone and tend to your own business. Love Ricky's voice and anything he ever sang. Thank God he got his life and wife back.

Country music started going down the drain around 1992 in my opinion. Statue of a Fool is my favorite Ricky Van Shelton song. I'm sad because country music now is a bunch of dimestore cowboys in cowboy hats forcing a nasal twang and the ladies are all pretty and doing the same forced nasal twang. No more Loretta Lynns, Patsy Clines, Charley Prides, Buck Owens, or groups like Alabama, Highway 101, The Judds to name a few. So I listen to the music from the 60s to the very early 90s. Same with rock and roll and pop and R&B except I listen from the 60s to 1980 and after that it went down the drain. The music today all sounds the same. I haven't had a new favorite song in decades.

I grew up on Ricky Van's music. He dominated the country music charts from the late 80's to early 90's with one #1 hit after another, then had a sudden decline with country radio. I doubt Ricky Van Shelton will get into the country music Hall of Fame, but he is still among one of the greatest country music singers of all time. I miss hearing new music from Ricky Van Shelton. I'm glad I have a ton of his CDs I listen too quite often. "Don't We All Have The Right", "Keep It Between The Lines", and his break through smash "Crime Of Passion" are my favorites.

Love his songs. The $ rules in this society instead of good values and it is a shame. I grew up to listen to the original Country music that is completely different to the jazzy modern picture of Country music that I see today. There is no comparison.

An artist I knew was doing a radio tour in the early ‘89 to ‘90. The DJ on one of his stops told him that Ricky had just played a concert there. A lady who was a big fan had driven a few hours and had some flowers to give him. There were a lot of women at his tour bus. The woman asked the road manager if he could give Ricky the flowers. He took them on the bus. A couple of minutes later the road manager appeared at the front of the bus. He said does anyone want these flowers? Ricky wants them off the bus. The woman that gave the flowers was standing there heart broken. He was a real jerk from what the radio station said.
