Is Matthew Parris really, really telling all the people who've been sunk into poverty in this country, all those struggling that we should "check our privilege" because we're better off than those in terribly poor countries? SERIOUSLY? The UK is the 5th (or is it 6th) largest economy in the world. We should not have people in poverty, we should not have homelessness. Jesus. How out of touch.

Sorry but your delusional ... Having a high GDP is irrelevant when you have a third of your GDP going to benefits so that people can live a standard existence which yes is well beyond the standard of most people in this world....if the government wasn't spending billions on legal migrants working cash in hand jobs pretending they earn 5k a year whilst having 10 kids half of which are registered as disabled to circumvent the 2 child cap then maybe we might be able to invest money into public services...The UK has become a third world dump full of people that hate the west and hate Britain but come here because they know they can exploit it

Matthew Pariss saying 'everyone' should check their privilege, that they should all consider how good their lives are compared to other people in the world... it's a bit rich! That's the kind of thing only a privileged person can say. If you can't pay your bills and can't adequately feed your family, the consideration about how good your life is in comparison to others is not a fair or realistic ask. It's a rather insensitive ask, to say the least.

The reason why you don't sort it out before the start of the election is that it makes it easier for the party machine to impose candidates than risk local parties selecting another candidate who isn't favourable to the leadership, that said they should've had an definitive answer on Abbott ready to go.

What absolute complacency in that last segment! 'We've never had it so good'? Really? YOU may have it cushy Parris but there's a huge chunk of the people of this country who don't, who are measurably worse off because of the policies and actions of people who share your political outlook. So blathering that they should look at the lives of those in worse places and count their blessings is as derisively fatuous as the 'There are people in Africa who'd be grateful for that rice pudding' cliche that it's just a variant of.

People campaigned to end slavery because they thought everyone was entitled to be free, people fought against child labour because they thought children were entitled to grow up free from oppression. Embarrassingly obvious especially as it's been a topic amongst both parties in recent years/ days but some people need it spelt out, so where to begin? In most recent news Kier stamer is taking steps to remove the far left corbinites to further solidify his lead on the conservatives in the upcoming election. Hardly in the interests of the left wingers who voted for those MPs. You could also argue that the labour party and many of its members including Kier Starmer are abstaining from taking stances on gaza while also refusing to pass policies that may change the sitation, to the dismay of many of their voters and the delight of many conservatives. Multiple Labour MPs have also repeatedly sided with Isreal despite many of their voters objections. Across the EU many leftiest parties have taken far harder stances on those subject for example Spain and Ireland in regards to the Palestine Israel debate. Blarerites exist in droves both amongst the left and right bringing both parties closer to the centre. No I won't name all of them. David Cameron was notorious for passing policies that upset conservatives "well everyone really" but in a fair few cases to the delight of the left. A famous example of a Cameron policy that wasnt consevative, he decreased the military size. A action that upset many conservatives . While I admit he isn't by anymeans far left he is certainly not right wing and his policies show that he has clear left wing/Liberal consevative beliefs and by no means can be seen as right wing. I cant reinforce enough how many conservatives hated him. After Cameron many of the Libdems joined both tory and Labour Party. (The conclusion of this should be obvious but i dont want too assume.) This lead to both party's being dragged more into the centre. Which has since caused even more party defects from conservatives and labour MPs. Each of these MPs in turn would obviously bring both right wing and left wing beliefs to the opposite party. No I will not name them all nor each of their policies. Boris Johnson was anti brexit until the last moment when he saw it could help him In his career he jumped onto Nigel Farage's band wagon. DESPITE BREXIT under his government more immigrants were let in than any right winger wanted and more foreign students recieved reserved places/slots at universities across the UK at the discontent of many consevatives. No policy has been successfully passed to address this rather the opposite. He is often referred to as a Liberal lefty amongst conservatives. Oh and one of many more examples a consevative MP recently left the Tory party and Joined Labour. Her name is "Natalie Elphicke" who had many left wing beliefs prior to to leaving the party. (No I won't go into them all as its not my job to educate you) while also being apart of the conservative party. She will obviously be taking her remaining conservatives beliefs to the Labour Party. Further pulling both parties into the centre. We could start going into more policies passed by conservative MPs promoting LGBTQ but like I said prior it's not my job to educate when the information is free and readily available. We still haven't even scratced the surface and I can assure you there are more. I don't get why you felt the need to ask when all the information is out there and not exactly in short supply either... Are u running low on 5g or was this just a failed attempt to call someone out? If none of my answers hit the supposed mark you are more than welcome to go online and find the rest of the information in far further depth there.

The Tories are in serious trouble now, simply because they did not purge the leftist half of their party out after brexit, from that point onwards, they destroyed themselves from within.
