This reminds me of my own work experience back in the mid 70s. I used to be a telecommunications technician with Canadian National and much of my work was in rail yards or near track. In Capreol, Ontario, the office I worked in was in the middle of the yard and there was no crosswalk. I had to cross over tracks to get to the main office. Often the Super Continental train was in the station, so we had to pass through it. I certainly learned about not stepping on the rail. In my duties, I often rode freights, to get to my work location, somewhere along the main line. I often had items with me and I'd space them out along the track and then pass them up to someone on the train. I'd reverse the process when getting off. If I had large items, I'd ask for a full stop. Back in those days, when riding on a freight train, I'd be in either the engine or caboose. On passenger trains, you might find me in the bar car! 🙂

I believe that "the older generation" (like me, at 74) has had distant relatives who worked with a railroad company and were involved in railyard accidents and lost their lives or, saw accidents happen. I think the railmen accidents have dropped much in the last several dscades. The overalls and workmen boots of the era shown were something to wear!

Interesting/informative/entertaining 😉. Excellent still/motion photography pictures enabling viewers 👀 to better understand what the orator is describing .

Most of the actions demonstrated are no longer possible in 21st Century railroading. Walkways have been removed from car roofs. Stemwinder brake wheels are history. Many carriers are requiring use of a brake stick to wind the brake wheels that the stick can reach with its user with his feet firmly on the ground. The practice of momentum dropping cars past the engine is verboten. And on and on.

It certainly isn't O27 as that would be 3-rail..This is 2 rail and likely before HO was invented..Thus it's likely 2-rail O scale.
