We bought an RV spot for our Motorhome at Lake Greenwood Motorcoach Resort in Cross Hill, SC. It’s great having the ability to use it anytime we want, always hooked up to utilities, and the facilities available. It is a great investment! There is only so much land.

Were full time in a Luxe 5th. We bought 20 acres where we operate our seasonal business. We put in full hookups for 2 sites. Barnominuim build is next. We rv to Destin FL or Orange Beach/ Gulf shores AL for winter.

Yes, this is great to hear. Sold our southeast Louisiana home in June 2021, to be able to start full time RV life. One month later, we closed on 8.5 acres in south Mississippi, so we can have a winter time base camp: while simultaneously purchasing a small townhouse in Louisiana for our son to live in while he finishes up college. Two weeks after we got the townhouse all unpacked, Hurricane Ida flooded it 🤦🏻‍♀️ so we weren’t able to hit the road, due to gutting and waiting on insurance. We’re over five months out and STILL waiting to start renovations. Once the townhouse is finished we are hoping to finally get out west to start our full-time RV TRAVEL 🤪 life 😍

We bought an RV lot 11 years ago in beautiful Star Valley Wyoming, just 48 miles south of Jackson Hole and surrounded with beautiful mountains. Too cold in the Winter but beautiful Mid May through Oct. We have seen the area explode the last few years so definitely since the Covid influence and the value has quadrupled since we purchased. We have several neighbors who come from as far away as Florida to enjoy the cool summers there. Our sticks and bricks is only 190 miles away in Northern Utah so easy for a quick trip home. We love to travel the rest of the year and love to watch your channel.

I have a time-share membership with Colorado River Adventures and can stay at any of the 5 parks along the Colorado River and 3 in California. Some of the parks are spacious while others are like parking lots. But for $400/year to maintain the membership, it works out for me right now. I have a 2.5 acre lot in 29 Palms near Joshua tree and 1/2 acre near Deming, NM at the foot of the Florida Mountains in Sunshine Valley Ranchettes. Developing these lots for stop overs is an interest if I ever get out that far. We'll see. Thanks for posting this video.

My son just bought 12 acres in AL for his camper that came with an old cottage so the lot already had power and water, high and dry, partly cleared, paved road past the lot, for under $20,000. Just keyword land for sale Alabama, there's lots of realtors that have KZbin videos,

Great interview and subject. I'm planning on the same. I would also like to have a lot for my RV. I'm interested in SW FL, from around FT. Myers to Naples. It's just a matter of finding land that is high and dry and without deed restrictions. At this point, it looks like I may buy something in 2023.

Is there a common website or app that makes known RV spots discoverable? Is the Good Sam app/ site the best one? Listening to the discussion here, is there need for an AirBnB for RV pads-- private and commercial? Is there a shortage of RV pads (short or long-term in particular) regionally or nationally, seasonally/ year-round?

Glad you tackled this topic. I am having trouble understanding the financial metrics vs the demographics of those buying. There is a cost, let’s use $50K. Over 10 years that $5k in RV park rent. But you now have taxes and utilities, guessing $2K each year. That comes out to $20 each night. If you leave you and go someplace else you still pay. Basically a wash until year 10. Now those who own a spot and are not there will want to rent it out, that’s good. So more sites on market, that’s good for us renters. Real estate prices are high now, seems like buying now is at the top. I suspect most people buying are 60+. They are likely to age out in 10 years, so many will be available if you can wait. I would love if someone could counter, not saying I’m right, I don’t understand this trend.

I think you don't understand this trend because you are only looking at it from a financial, ledger sheet perspective. RVers are choosing this for their own enjoyment and the knowledge that they always have a place where they can go a place they enjoy and a place that is theirs. It isn't about money and ROI at all.

I agree with all responses, except every “investment” requires forethought. I have a permanent site in a campground in NC mountains with room for a 24x40 shelter, 10x16 outbuilding, and other parking. My yearly amenity fee $1000 , pays mowing, water, sewer, road maintenance. I will not be a buyer of land not previously developed forRVs for many reasons. My situation allows me trips to Florida in winter, other parts of the country April to November. So the thought of “parking” long term on remote property does not appeal to me, or look financially reasonable.

How is the best method to locate RV land options around the US. Obviously, we hope to find something near our sticks and bricks (2 to 4 hours). If there's a list of spots on the web, call land brokers...any thoughts.

Yes, there are only a few places in the country where camping on your own land is legal.

There's some many people doing, or at least thinking about doing this same thing that at some point someone should come up with an app and or a coop so you could travel around and use other peoples lots. The catch being they have to also own a lot that other people can use.

Sure. Not where we are but you should find an acre or so somewhere at that price. Maybe even one where someone has installed the utilities. You have lots of time to shop.

@@joycem2795 We're wondering about a gate. So far, since before Christmas, no one has even driven onto the property on our new driveway. But again, we are in a very remote and rural county and there's not a lot of traffic, even though town is five minutes away. But now that water is being installed and soon electricity, I'm thinking about hooking a cable across both driveway entrances. I've asked some of the ocals and they say it's probably not necessary. But as the area develops over time, it may be. It's all still new to us but when we're down next week, we'll assess the situation again. I think once everything is done and hooked up, some deterrent to entry would be appropriate. I'm documenting every step of the development so will address this issue in a future video.

Try over $6 gallon in Canada, we bought a cottage in rural BC, Canada close to lakes, can fish all year and hunt, free camping on forestry land.. Covid came border closed couldn't go south in the winter, then fires happened I was surrounded by them, then the floods came with the rain....can't win, hopefully 2022 is better but gas still going up and travel health insurance for US is astronomical!, probably staying put!.

Looking at the Big Picture... the reality is this country is suffering from a serious housing shortage. At some point it needs to be addressed and when it does, looking at past history, land is going to be grabbed up and become much harder to procure. It MIGHT change again in 10 or 20 years.. but in the meantime, where does one park? Where can one live? There are some renters that were forced to move 3 times.. because the property sold.

That COULD be a good strategy but even that has issues. Many renters are being kicked out and that land or house is being grabbed up right from under them... at insane rates. It really is difficult to predict how long this trend might last.. it could be like the hoolahoop.. OR more like the CAR.
