UV unwrapping is a very deep subject that is really under-represented in the Blender tutorial world. I would love to see something really in-depth on UV unwrapping (not just the basics of unwrapping a cube) that covers topics similar to this one: double vertices, unnecessary face, non-manifold geometry, UV face stretching, etc. Keep up the great work Grant!

Mr. Grant Abbitt comes to the rescue again! I recently did this very tutorial of yours. Thankfully I didn't have the issue with inside faces, but I can easily imagine that it could have and very well may occur in the future. Thanks so much for the useful tip!

Just bought two courses from you, finished the low poly character and moving on to the anime character now 😎 You’re my favorite teacher for blender 🔥

When having issues with UV unwrapping, go to face selection mode, press L on some random face, and if you seams are placed correctly, it should only select the faces you intend to. In that example, you could press L on any face on the top of the hand and it should only select the faces belonging to that UV island. If it selects the whole glove, it means you have a discontinuity in your seams.

There are problems that I had 12 years ago, still today the exact same situation and it is possible that tools have not been developed and written that allow it to be done in cars. With other softs I do not see these problems, it is a stopped evolution. Apart from the nodes and improvements on the engines, I do not see evolution in the tools. The paint is still better to do with SUB PAINTER, the sculpt has improved but still has millions of problems compared to other softs. UV MAP is better to export to another soft to do it immediately. The bases of the pipeline have been stopped for years. I go back to look at the soft and find the same problems that I saw ages ago. I remember seeing a VIDEO OF YOURS on unwrap analyzing the same problems 5 years ago.

Wow, thanks for that and good catch/find. I have a side question for you if you have a second, how do you get the skin of the character to be so smooth? For example, if you have a lump in the leg where you were a bit overzealous with the grab tool, how do you go back and make that smooth? I know there's the smooth tool but that doesn't seem to make it completely level. Is there a trick here?
@grabbitt3 ай бұрын
smooth tool is actually the best way but you need to be doing that when you have low resolution or low polygons

how then? *gives opinion but no suggestions* 😂
@thiogarces3 ай бұрын
@@cutieworldwideee Sr. at production all the tubular shapes must be straight all and is not advanced stuff is because when you go to the next step in the pipeline you should make life easier of the Texture artist, and also in case you would put a pattern with Horizontal or vertical way path it is more easy to paint or apply texture. not only that also int he next departments imagine the arm and hand would have and animation in horizontal on the arm it would be more easy for the FX composers to use the uv coordinates. Don´t be nasty dude in a studio this would be taken as a provoker comm and also I don´t hear your comments don´t be a $149 person
