Amazing talk by probably one of the most amazing and influental educator in the world. Educators worldwide are continuing your stories. We still have you in our memories, about how you try to make the world better, day by day. Even though you have become one with Mother Nature, your revolutionised ideas will continue to live on until the end. Best of things for you, Sir Ken Robinson.

This is true across the board. I'm pinay & growing up NURSE/DOCTOR was tied for #1 you HAVE to bee. Close to that is MILITARY and a smig under that is POST OFFICE or MAID. These were & sometimes are the ones ingrain to our heads. Anything that has to do with drawing or music or theater gets squished. Go into another hospital or nursing home & look at the staff. If you are in America & you are in a city or state near big bodies of water go to your nearest post office. Basically embrace the creativity of all children. This man should go around the world teaching this.

I'm a high-school student. I'm so sad of my classmates and the whole education system. Because, teachers are making students to get prepared for the exam rather than giving them curiosity to learn and critical thinking.

A teacher's work performance is judged by how well students did in their exams, that's why many of them a so focus on exams and exam results. During my time most of us would just memorize and regurgitate, but fortunately there are some changes to the new curriculum where I'm from.

It seemed to me when I was at school (im now 60) that any signs of individuality were not encouraged or nurtured. When you have a class of 20-30 kids they want you all lined up, all listening and all following what they present to you. Unfortunately teachers were allowed to be physically violent towards you in those days and any expressions or behaviours that didnt tow the line were cracked down on. I am not blaming just understanding and I have no doubt I was a bit of a handful. I was hyper and would have been diagnosed ADHD if it were recent times. The only think I enjoyed and was good at was art. I am glad to say I have picked it up again in the past 5 years.

Watching this was pure bliss I'll tell you.✨ I consider myself living proof of the fact that we are "educated" out of harnessing our creativity and gifts in order to appease the broken school system that refuses to repair itself. Adults and future adults alike need to stop speaking of a change and actually create it.

The problem is: everything is art related whether we realize it or not. Food? Culinary arts. Probably why we're called 'artisons' sons of artists. When you think of everything as art then all you have to do is nourish that aspect of it. Sweeping floors? Feel it move effortlessly under your hands, watch as it moves so smoothly, the motions, the behavior of it, eventually finding the simplest and best way to do it::: simply art.

The most essential question he asked in that talk is: "How do we prepare children for a future we don't know yet?" Creativity is one. Being able to solve problems, adapt life to new issues. We need to stop drilling kids to fit the system as it is! It's destroying the conditions of life on this planet. Helping kids to be successful in a dysfunctional system isn't helping. So, though not mentioned in the talk, Regenerative Design is two. And daring to challenge the system, overturn/deviate/change/adjust corporate and national powers that defend their status quo at the cost of everything else.

We waste too much time trying to make everyone "average" at everything. I had tremendous gifts in writing, creativity, History, and English and did very well but my brain didn't process higher math(s) very well. I was getting all As in other classes, failing math. I can do all basic math and have never used algebra or geometry after high school. I have a Masters Degree in Education, an English degree (BA).. However, all anyone focused on in middle or high school was "do better at math." What a waste. My math teachers thought I was stupid. It's pretty ironic. I enjoyed hanging with "the bad kids" in math class. Due to poor math in high school I couldn't get in the National Honors Society and my GPA was lower than it should have been. After awhile we need to realize everyone cannot be "good" at every subject. Focus kids towards their passions and their talents.

My parents forbid me to be a vetrenarian, stewardess, and my third and final choice was a racecar driver... BECAUSE in the early 60's a girl didn't need an education, BECAUSE she was going to be married after highschool anyhow... So, it's not just educaters who inadvertantly keep children from future success, it is parents, siblings (the child looks up to) and the child's environment that keep children from succeeding! Especially if a girl wants to enter into a male oriented work world!
