a story like this was definitely necessary tbh. The goal seems less like to defeat the exes but instead to give them actual closure, which in the end made the exes much more fleshed out characters (except for the twins in my opinion) and allowed all the characters to develop in their own ways, especially Scott

Yes the advertising was misleading, but tbh, wasn't it a little necessary? If the series was advertised as "Ramona in a AU dealing with her past", pretty sure it would have attracted far less people.

This is what I am talking about tho, you may have liked it and may have been good, however you spent the first part of the vid talking about Roma, who still seems like the main character, in a movie called Scott Pilgrim. Now, mind you I don’t know a thing about any of this IP, however if they wanted to focus more on Roma, then they should of called it, Roma, A Scott Pilgrim story, then people would know what to expect, what if you don’t even like Roma character? I don’t know, to me it’s like advertising a Larry, but giving people a Shemp.

I have a weird relationship with Scott Pilgrim because I am from Toronto so it... hits to home. I noticed this adaptation had even less references that a Torontonian would recognize besides the CN tower and Julie's house looking very... I guess near Lawrence Allen Centre, dunno I see that kind of home architect in a lot of Toronto suburbs. Namely they seem to have replaced the area where Lucas Lee filmed to the non-existent Torontowood Studios when in the original it was Casa Loma, an actual place. They kept references to Honest Ed's though, likely because it's gone and going to be replaced with another damn condo. I like Scott Pilgrim somewhat but it always kind of irked me. I guess because at the time it came out I didn't really have many friends. It was a difficult era where people were more judgmental and edgy. People also say that Ramona Flowers is somehow responsible for inspiring a generation of cringey hipster girls. I have seen some people in Toronto who Brian Lee O' Malley may have based the characters off of, but nobody who wears forehead goggles. They can be very hit or miss people, and if they don't know how to play a musical instrument, they're more likely a miss. I guess all in all, since Scott Pilgrim takes place in Toronto, it just makes me wish that I met more interesting people at the time instead of scumbags who poorly tried to LARP the story of it.

Back in 2010, I WAS Scott Pilgrim (that is: an emotionally crippled mooch thinking I had to “fight for” the woman of my dreams who happened to be a blue haired, rollerblading, emotionally disconnected young woman). This is a story that always resonated with me but as I’ve grown older and figured out how to be a better man (and as society has changed mostly for the better), Scott and the gang have been locked in that 2010 society that idolized broken people trying to make it work without the tools to actually do that. It always seemed obvious that Scott and Ramona would break up if they tried to make the relationship work. It’s so clear they’re not over the pain of their pasts. This series was a surprising updated take on the story. Sure, giving Ramona authority to deal with her own emotional baggage might come across as “woke feminism” to some people, but it’s a better character arc that sets everyone up to move forward from their past. We shouldn’t idolize young people ‘being stuck’ in old patterns that are clearly not healthy. I know too many people from that era who went from nobody 20-something’s to nobody 30-something’s because they couldn’t figure out their problems. Those people need to see more characters with emotional healing.
