As many families dropped cable in the 2000s and 2010s, PBS kids was it for antenna users. That is where their true impact was. Before KZbin, my 2009 and 2012 kids only had PBS kids for shows. It was Curious George, Super Why and Wild Kratz that was all my kids knew

I remember this station! When I was a kid, we didn’t have Disney Channel, Nick or Cartoon Network (oddly enough, I remember watching Teen Titans with my dad), so I watched this. The memories of watching Arthur, Sesame Street, Fetch with Ruff Ruff Man, Word Girl, Super Why, Dinosaur Train, Cyberchase and even some Cat in the Hat just flooded my mind. I still remember the apartment we used to live in while watching Elmo’s World. I feel like I’m a kid again. Doc Brown as Hacker will never leave my mind.

2000s PBS Kids was the era I grew up with, watching shows like Teletubbies and Thomas & Friends.

One of the worst things PBS ever did was take Mr Rogers off the air and replace with....ugh.... Daniel Tiger. And then eventually Thomas too.

I personally grew up with PBS KIDS and I have so so many great and enthusiastic memories with it. I loved how many options there was and how many different styles of animation and shows there was. All the fun colors and shapes really caught my eye. My main shows I frequented were Martha Speaks, WorGirl, (idk the name but there was a floating cherry), superwhy, Arthur, peg and cat, caulloui, and for some reason I watched this one short episode abt a boy named Noah like 56 times, and wild krats OFC!

I would say 4Kids' biggest mistake was licensing "One Piece" According to Norman J Grossfeld at the time 4Kids partnered with Shueisha and they wanted to bring it to America because of how marketable it was in Japan. Shueisha wanted to duplicate the success of "One Piece", but they underestimated the broadcast standards and editing duties of 4Kids.

I appreciate the theme songs of 4Kids shows, and except for a few showS, the dubbing and or censorship was atrocious.

I think there is a place for these shows, but none of it is the type of thing I would watch on my own as an adult. Also as a kid the shows were generally a step down from the corporate cartoons, as the focus on learning could overshadow the story. This was the channel my parents wanted me watching. Some shows were solid, but 85% of the time I would have preferred CN, Nick, Disney... My folks axed those channels for a while. Had to keep an eye out for interesting tv during those days.
