fun fact: the "fixes" to the game doesn't actually fix anything they just add invisible walls not to mention they didn't even fix the lag from lighting in the game so they are actually useless (yes they managed to break the lighting in a unreal engine game bruh)

For me, one of the most obvious and succinct examples of what's wrong with security breach is how at 6am, Gregory says that if he leaves, nothing will change and kids will still go missing-despite the fact that missing children have never been brought up in SB up until that point. It's an example of a story that they intended to tell, but that either got cut or simply got missed during development. There are so many loose threads all over that game (both in terms of story and gameplay) that just make the whole experience feel completely unfinished and not very well thought through.

I saw a video on KZbin and she gave an idea for a plot during her critique of the game and it sounded amazing. Missing kids, Gregory is an orphan and his orphan friends go missing one by one, he goes to investigate the pizzaplex to find them, sounded great. So many missed opportunities

Honestly, the first time I saw someone play it this was the moment that annoyed me the most. I was fine putting up with the other stuff, I had issues with it, but that was just so out of left field and showed just how disjointed and unfinished the game was. At least to me anyways

That's what bothered me the most. We were initially led to believe that Gregory was just an orphan that secretly lived in the Pizzaplex and has nothing to do with whatever Vanny was doing. But then at the end, it's revealed that Gregory DOES know about what's going on and wants to stop it, despite never mentioning that anywhere before the ending

@@superlarrybros760 Not in security breach. The only mention of missing people happens After that point; in one of the endings. Gregory sleeping in the alleyway and using a newspaper as a blanket. That literally the Only time disappearances are mentioned outside of that final choice.

What we do know is, that they kept adding and removing stuff from the game. Often without even knowing why, just because Scott told them to add something. Imagine adding something to a game, for no reason, just because someone told you to.

I'll defend the inconsistent technology because I'm pretty sure in universe the reason is that Fazbear Entertainment spent ungodly amounts of money on making the Pizzaplex look shiny, futuristic, and top of the line. The key word being *look*, because once you look behind the scenes and see what the employees are working in you realize the whole place is a death trap held together by duct tape and glitter glue.

This was my thought as well! That this future isn't all that advanced. We even get hints that the outside world isn't as advanced as the Pizzaplex leads one to believe. It's just a greedy corporation trying to lure people in to spend all of their money.

That still does not excuse the fact the entire game, from top to bottom, is awful & the design CHOICES are borderline fucking stupid! If it’s 2 things I hate in any game ever, it’s level design that is confusing to navigate, and bosses who leave no windows for YOU to attack. Design and lore implications or no, FNAF SHOULD have just stopped at Pizzeria Simulator.

Ah..... Good ol' Fazbear Entertainment 🙃 Always cutting corners and doing bare minimum cover ups and slap jobs if it means they can save a dollar or two. But, I really agree with you. I get the theme of Security Breach was supposed to be Duality. Like you said with the Pizzaplex, on the surface, everything is clean, shiny, bright, and aesthetically mesmerizing but once you go further, you see all the grit and grime, decadence and decay that permeates throughout the establishment. We have two voicelines from Gregory (one I think was cut) referencing this. There's also Sun and Moon, Vanessa and Vanny, and the Glamrock Animatronics (who are implied by both the intro cutscene and by Freddy himself that they are normally good people but *something* is causing them to act uncharacteristically hostile).

@@AlastorAltruistGaming if it ended there, the story of the novel the fourth closet, as you know, all the books and novels are alternative universes that explain some events that happened in the original Fnaf verse but in some other twisted versions, if security breach didn’t exist it would just be the odd one out

Something you didn’t mention that really ticked me off was how pg they made it, mainly with Vanny. She was teased with a god damn knife and to be a ruthless serial killer, but they felt the need to take her knife away and just have her skip around the map with next to no dialogue and scream in your face if she caught you. It’s obvious they changed the game to be more marketable to kids because Scott saw his fans around the time fnaf 1 was released consisted of mostly children, but he doesn’t realize those fans are older now and want to see the series bare its teeth and show just how gruesome it can be (hence why I’m extremely excited for Fnaf Plus since it looks EXTREMELY promising)

what really bugs me is the lack of blood, i know fnaf is not very know for realistic blood in games but vanny got FRICKIN DESMENBRADED WITHOU A SINGLE. DRIP. OF. BLOOD. At the point blood should be splatered in the wall or something to make that scene more shocking and gruesome in the way it deserves.

Sounds to me that they have an identity crisis. They want to be a horror game that mentions death and murders but they don't want to show it graphically and instead mention it subtly. Fundamentally, trying to make a kid-friendly horror game won't work. Security Breach is an unfortunate example of that.

It's so dumb that they catered for kids, since kids love dark stuff! I certainly did as a kid, and I mean, kids who dont play the darker games wouldnt care at all about the ending because they wouldnt know who William Afton is!

I wish they didn’t tease the game as early as they did or set a release date they ended up not being able to meet. I feel like that had a lot to do with the impatience of the fans besides the fact that we usually had games releasing very quickly. Since the game was pushed back further than we were told it was supposed to come out, of course some fans are going to get impatient since it built hype 😭 In contrast though the way fnaf plus won’t have a release date annouced until it’s pretty much done is a great idea.

Exactly! Many fans did end up being impatient, but the majority were willing to wait. Only the loud fans were demanding an early release. Most people understand that it takes time and care to craft something this big, but they decided to try and meet a deadline that they created, even though the game was so incomplete when they made this deadline that they ended up changing colors of rooms and removing fully coded mini games. FNaF plus has been in development for some time now, and we’ve only had short teasers for Steam wishlists, no actual dates, which I agree with you as the PERFECT way to approach a large game like that

I think it's also because instead of sticking with what SW started with, they started wanting to add more and more "content" to the game which caused many things to be cut.

@@doesthisIookinfected Yeah I totally agree with you, that’s probably why many of the endings feel so rushed. I think they meant to make it a very detailed and explorable game but it ends up just being full of empty space and missing the development of the plot with vanny that we were really looking forward to. It makes me sad to watch the trailer and see what we could have had 😭

Fr. I felt this with Cyberpunk as somebody who was hyped since the first trailer in 2013. I still love the game, but it’s definitely not what was advertised and it hurts

I'm still mad about Vanny, I LOVE her as a character and her design. But she was the most disappointed point of this game, especially since the trailers showed a lot more attention to her. I wanted to hope she would come back and redeem herself, but the endings suggested otherwise. I hope fan made stuff can redeem her cause I still love her, but this game blew it HARD

I saw a fan suggested storyline where Vanny was tape girl from HW, /framing/ Vanessa to be Vanny in the same way she tried to frame Monty for murking Bonnie- She did so to use his parts for Peepaw. (They gave a lot of other reasons, too btw) Ever since I saw that, I've loved Vanny. And I actively deny canon/the way this game went about using her in the plot. Edit: It's a vid by NotRealName NotAtAll called "Why tape girl should've been Vanny (And Salty Patient 46 Take)" Can't reccomend it enough.

don't forget that they literally changed Vanessa's role and personality. in the trailers(and unused stuff) she was nicer and trying to help Gregory.but in game she is a child hater grumpy lady that does almost nothing but locking you in a room

@@LeaveMeAloneFBI no, Freddy's role was never changed, if you watch like the first trailer you can hear Freddy talking to Gregory and it's very clear that he was protecting Gregory, i guess that's why they changed Vannesa's role because it was basically the same as Freddy.

​​@@Kaika433 But think of this actually using the Vanny / Vanessa thing incorporated into the story. You would see Vanessa more as she actually helps Gregory throughout the story, Let's say she's shows up in boss fights and mini games, in contrast to Vanny chasing Gregory or actually setting up traps for him, to try and lure him away from Freddy's protection. For some reason I think they wanted to lay down ground work for more mysteries that would Carry over the course of this Glitch Trapp, Vanny, Gregory arc. The ending that could be used is the Vanny on the ground Vanessa on the roof ending. I think they tried to tease more things and lay down more what if scenarios but just failed. Ex. Gregory is currently trapped in the security room as Monty and Roxy are being at the doors to try and get him. Freddy has not been to a power station so he's not usable. He's slumped off in the corner trying to conserve whatever little energy has left so he can make it to a power station. The security system has been tried to be hacked by Gregory but he failed and is about to go into failsafe mode. Has the timer is taking down the doors are about to release who shows up but Vanessa smashing into Roxy with a go-kart from the raceway that she managed to drive out through the lot. Is she opens the door for Gregory stopping the lockdown and saving both him and Freddy from these "malfunctioning" animatronics. I believe this would actually created more of a bond seeing Vanessa actually save Gregory and help him throughout the story it'll make the betrayal of these two people are actually the same person that much greater but it also leaves the door open for if they're twins or some other twist that they want to throw down the line. On the opposite note an example for for Vanny would look more like; Gregory and Freddy have located the vent to reach the next area but they have to go through the maze to get to it. As you are going through the maze, after finding the proper type of screwdriver to remove the screws from the vent, the power goes out you are left with nothing much but a flashlight and darkness. As you hear Vanny's humming and little skips getting louder as she's going through the maze hunting Gregory as he sees he's trying to find her little secret. Now that this has become more personal than already was ,Gregory having bested her already before she's come back meaner, nastier. And now she's not just messing what your vision, she's having you see things things that aren't there, she has new more special designed animatronics set up ones that aren't just going to catch you for a few seconds and then let you go like the staff bots. No these ones are more advanced hunters climbing over obstacles. You never know what level you'll be safe and the Pizza Plex anymore, now that you seen them crawling on the walls. Does new animatron those seem to have a very familiar design like the designs of one _WILLIAM AF-_ okay I'm done now. TLDR: I believe they could have used Vanessa more in the story and play a larger role, free example included.

Yeah, you can tell Steel Wool, as passionate as they are, bit off more than they can chew. From what I remember, it also didn't help that Scott, who was also involved in the game in terms of story, did not really give them a clear picture about how the story should be. I think they mentioned this in an interview, but Scott just gave them the pieces for them to put together, resulting in this. I don't hate the idea behind SB, but I do wish it was better than what we got.

Yeah and I don’t think Scott retiring helped 100%, while I respect his choice to retire, the pressure from fans and now being in control of this massive series and high expectations, and then the delays and probably rewrites of the games, they we’re probably under a lot of pressure to get the game out. But I get they are trying. I can’t wait to see what the new DLC looks like.

I feel like Security Breach could have been scary if it leaned into like neon leminal space type unsettling horror. Vast emptiness being monitored by Vanny, who is sending the animatronics after Gregory. The animatronics could patrol certain areas, and the game could have put a higher emphasis on stealth. You can use the cameras to make sure areas are clear, but use it too much, and it alerts Vanny, who comes right after you.

I agree, we got a case of scope creep here. You can tell this game had so much love and joy poured into it, but to reference the analogy that Mr. Cawthon himself used, this cake had too many layers, came out undercooked, parts of the cake weren't frosted correctly and the decorations were falling off. You can tell they wanted to tell a story here, but because they were under time constraints and lots of things were without a doubt changed to make the deadline. If this game waited another 2 to 3 years? I wouldn't have complained if it meant I got a scary game with an incredible story, amazing visuals(that didn't crash your software), and gave me options and routes based on the choices I made as the player? I would have been so happy, and Steel Wool would also be happy.

Here's how I think this could've worked: 1. The animatronics aren't being influenced, they're being possessed by kids Vanny killed and out inside of them, who uses them to achieve her and the Afton virus's means. Maybe she's using false promises of release to manipulate them to kill others? Maybe that would be why GR Freddy isn't under control, because he doesn't want to listen to her. 2. Power outage: In the very beginning the mall is lit up and bright, before things get scary. After triggering an event surrounding the Daycare Attendant, the power goes off in the whole mall, giving you only a flashlight to work your way through with. All the animatronics have run rampant, trying to find you and kill you. (Except maybe Daycare Attendant because that guy's way too skinny to house a child, he doesn't kill you but brings you back to the daycare where some of the animatronics will follow) Vanny will sorta pop up now and again but she tends to stay hidden and pull things behind the scenes, as the virus taught her to. 3. Less protection: Take away the blasters and cameras, or at least make them for puzzles or as keys. (like maybe a mechanism won't work unless there's enough light, like a door that needs it to unlock but the flashlight is not enough) Freddy could help you but only in certain areas, or maybe you can only stay 100% safe in him for a time until the other animatronics start to realize you're in there, or even just add an air timer, you can't stay in for too long or else you'll get booted to keep you from dying and need to wait a time to get back in. Your flashlight helps you navigate but can also alert enemies to your location. The helper bots rely on sound, the light doesn't alert them. If you run, they notice but if you stop in time, they shrug it off and leave. But light does affect Roxy and Chica, they'll spot you and give chase. And movement alerts Monty, like a ground level reptile. His glasses mean he can't see very well, and he can hear, but mostly stays in vents which you'll be made to travel now and again. It'll just be them looking for you, with the DJ bot sequence. 4. Story: Get rid of the retcons! The Blob doesn't exist anymore, or if he does, it's not because of souls. Vanny is trying to revive Afton, but since his spirit is departed, it's not working for her. She believes Afton himself (actually the virus, an imperfect remnant of him holding his memories, actions and desires) is telling her that killing more children will bring him back, which is why she's trying to kill Gregory. Now the bad ending is you escaping from the mall, but getting caught by Vanny and sacrificed. The good ending is directly locating her hideout, by means Freddy cannot follow you, there are two entrances but one is guarded by Nightmarionne Bots that kill you when alone and immediately detect you inside Freddy then will try and rip you out and kill you. By taking the obscure route to find Vanny, you confront her and she gives a monologue about Afton, bringing him back, killing the kids and admits she tricked them into trying to get you, and even admits in her madness that she's grown to enjoy it. Then the rest of the animatronic enemies burst in, and turn on her, dragging her away and locking her in a suit, paralleling Afton's own demise. 5. Complexity and choices: Make the game less of a chore to do, and make your choices matter. Maybe make Freddy have a holographic map that he can show to Gregory. Maybe also have him give Greg a tracking device so he knows where he is and can come to his aid when needed, requiring a certain amount of time to reach you depending on how far away you were from him. As for choices, they matter not directly in the ending, but in what happens in the details. Maybe if you kill the other animatronics, that will drastically change the 2 endings, making more. Like, in the bad ending, Vanny would show up and get angry with you for killing her "vessels" and decide not just to kill you but put you in a barely functioning, falling apart animatronic as revenge. In the good ending, only Freddy would show up and kill her but at the cost of his own "life" where he admits he's happy to finally be released, thanks you for helping him and saving the others. And lesser actions will get little bits in the credits or something, maybe doing different missions influences little parts of the mall.

i can name a few more scary scenes 1 the sewers its all cramped with a drstroyed chica glitching out make earpiercing screechs number 2 the endos wander around what seems to be a testing area to show new endos what to do like not hurt guests help guests and they move when you dont look at them number 3 the true ending wandering into a withered by time and seeing the staff bot and endo that have been traed down there for god knows how long

I feel like this game wasn't scary because of the free roam aspects. In FNAF, you're stuck in a low-light office, unable to escape the creatures coming for you. In FNAF: SB, you can run, run run in a well lit area.

Honestly I feel like if they went with the outlast approach with free Roman it could’ve been way more scarier. I wish that Scott went the joy of creation route, which could’ve made a very scary game

The boss "fights" are awesome and disapointing, like the daycare and djmm. They had so much potential but they felt quickly done, djmm boss is just flipping switches. Djmm doesnt Even try to attack you, he kinda just climbs around and few Times trys to get hold of you.

One of the things they always bugs me about this game (and others) is spatial realism. The pizza Plex looks like it wasn't designed for customers or staff in any practical way. I know it it pretend and make believe but horror had to have a basis in reality in order to allow for the audience's fear to be real.

I really wish that as Gregory was collecting the pieces from the other animatronics and putting them on Freddy that Freddy would slowly become corrupted from it. It would’ve been such a good twist.

The thing that annoys me the most about the designs is that the animatronics have little to no texture, and I don’t think them being hard plastic is an excuse. The Toy animatronics from FNaF 2 were hard plastic and they still had unique textures and bump mapping.

13:46 I played the game recently and she appeared right after I put the showtime disc in to play on the main stage and it was genuinely quiet scary as at that point you have no upgrades, weapons or Freddy so you have to make it all the way back to the main stage with Vanny chasing you, all the animatronics and the security guards.

I feel like the issue with the design of the pizzaplex is that it doesnt follow the atmosphere of horror. If they shut off all the lights and made office sequences better it would be terrifying. But like 4 minutes in all the lights are active and you might as well be in the pizzaplex in daytime mode.

Why FNAF: SB was so bad was for several reasons, but one reason I will always repeat is that at this point in the franchise a lot of things were already messed up and it just felt like Scott didn't know where else to go or what to say, it seemed that FNAF only existed because yes and nothing else. I continue to be an admirer of Scott, but it's a fact that The Silver Eyes book trilogy and the FNAF's that came after the fourth until Help Wanted, little by little, ruined the entire franchise, no kidding. While Scott wanted to release more games and add more content, but didn't know how to write and fill in gaps in the script, what was established in the original quadrilogy was getting lost and getting more and more confusing and FULL of new contradictions that only existed because of the new games, in addition to questionable choices for the plot universe like the fact that Fazbear, a company that sells pizza and soda to kids who live with phlegm in their noses and vomit on pizzeria floors, has LITERALLY the most advanced technology in the world to create robots with the most advanced AI , in addition to VR's that transport your mind to another reality, slimes that take the physical form of dead people and assimilate their personality and so many other absurd surreal things and everyone just ACCEPT it as if it were the most normal thing in the world. All this knowledge could be being used to find a cure for cancer and AIDS, in addition to creating android military troops for the fucking international powers or even finding the solution to human mortality, for worse or better, but instead of making for this they SPEND it all with stupidly superfluous things like furry robots and birthday parties. On top of that, we've never even had any stories that reveal the man in purple's past and why he kills children. Of course, it's not something necessary, because he's already a killer, but every killer has his origin in some way, some past that motivates him to be that way, but in William's case, after he made a plan to be GOD and live forever just to kill more people, there's no way after something so absurd like this there's not a very PLAUSIBLE REASON for him to want to live this life so much and repeat the same mistakes over and over again in such an obsessive way. It gets ridiculous. FNAF: SB not only fails to answer these questions, it just, once again, creates more unanswered questions and we're left in this infinite sadistic funnel, where it seems like Scott doesn't want anyone else to be interested in LORE and just don't know what else to do with the series, so it gets more and more involved with games that only serve to fill space but don't progress anything that was established before. In addition to the technical problems, such as the problematic performance, the plot differing from what was sold in the trailers, an unimportant villain, the considerable lack of the horror element, the real rough and poorly done ending, and so on. Series, the current FNAF books are MUCH more interesting than the main games, because they know how to tell a good horror story without resorting to extremes, in addition to dealing with situations that can occur in real life, such as the story of B-7, where Billy isn't possessed by any kind of "Remnant" or shit like that, but just has a fucked up and natural dissociation crisis, which he acquired after seeing too much of Fazbear's old drawings, to the point where he mutilated his own body and turned the monster of the story, because he is B-7 himself and he regrets it the moment he is about to die in the garbage compactor, because he feels and sees the BLOOD that was still in his body at the moment the press presses him. crush and kill him. THAT is a good plot, in addition to many other stories from the books that are interesting and that I wish the franchise had followed in that line, a pity. Not true. Purple man (Afton) definitely had a reason to kill. He lost his kids and was trying to get them back and his robots kind of went insane and I knew more but i forgot because a long time passed

the lore is meant to be confusing and extremely hard to put together and understand, despite that id say with all the current content weve recieved so far before getting new content, fnaf rn is like 80 percent solved , not including the final fnaf games in the future to finish the lore and story

I completely agree. Mob mindset is terrible with this game and just pushes it farther and farther down into the "terrible game" section, but the game isn't bad, it's just not what we were promised

I agree that there was definitely a hate mob but I do think this game was legit not great. Looking beyond the glitches, the gameplay and the story are just not good. The gameplay is a boring loop of similar tasks in different set pieces that essentially boil down to a variety of fetch quests. The story is just downright disappointing. Especially Vanny. Vanny was supposed to be the big bad of the series… and she’s just not the bad guy. And in the end… it’s all afton again. The plot is somehow both really barebones and an incoherent mess

I feel like Scott got in over his head with this one. I think he really wanted to deliver something really cool, but as the deadline became closer and closer and the game was not finished, he decided to cut things last minute just to produce a finished game. That's what I feel happened and I think if he had waited another year or two or even three this game could have ended up being something really cool

Nodding vigorously throughout this video. As much as I enjoyed playing it, everything you said is what I've been thinking for months. I am still clinging to hope that the Afton ending is non-canon and one of the others is the true ending, but I think that's probably wishful thinking...

I'm glad at the end he said he would wait another 3 years for a complete game.....well yeah that would be ideal to wait for a complete game. But the obvious that he left out was how hard the fans were demanding tge game to release as soon as possible no matter what. Imagine your fan base being angry because you weren't early in release and you were late one time and get crucified. So yeah I agree I would have waited another year for a completed game that wasn't rushed to please the fans. Most if not all the issues he mention was because they made due with what they had. This game feels so unfinished but unpopular opinion I enjoyed Fnaf SB got what it was and knowing it was incomplete. And for the security cameras seemed a bit much. Come on the graphics on the security cameras could have been tampered by the murderous hacker night security that is patrolling all by herself but hey its a mystery. And story wise gameplay wise it's all because of its incompletion. Now the trailer Part I agree we were shown alot and expected more from Vanny. Without a doubt they dropped tge ball on those 2. But for an unfinished game I liked it. I wont stand here and lie that I hated it. I genuinely just enjoyed having a free roam fnaf game especially after some really difficult years we were all going through I just felt nostalgic. But yes it's obvious that an unfinished game was not going to the most perfect game.

But here’s a good thing, though. Steel Wool does care about criticism. So since Security Breach got released, immediately, they fixed hundreds, and hundreds of bugs, and glitches. So I’m happy about that. And hopefully, once the DLC for it is released, it’ll make the game more fun, and scarier, including more mysteries, lore, etc.. And hopefully, though, that Steel Wool puts all of the unused voice lines, rooms, mini games, etc. to either, the regular game, or the DLC, or both. If that happens, hopefully, I’ll be happy.

My biggest problem with the game is: It feels like the flip the story at some point and thats the reason why it looks so rushed. I like and enjoyed the game but the trailer... don't know. It seems that they tell a different story than the actual game. Vanny/Vanessa had so much screentime there and Vanessa looks like an ally - a friend who is going to help us 'cause she also wants to escape but in the game she is just annoyed from Gregory.

I'd personally say that the biggest reason the game wasn't scary was that the animatronic interractions felt... Childish? It feels so much scarier being chased by haunted animatronics wanting to stuff you into an automatic execution machine that will literally rip you to pieces than security breach who will scream at you and forward you to the security guard. The scary thing about the fnaf animatronics was the uncanny valey of them feeling like animatronics. Other than the robotic look the interactions doesn't feel like they're animatronics at all.

I absolutely adore the pizzaplex. When going from the third floor from the main stage I wound up stopping on one of the escalators to just admire the design of the Fazer Blast loddy from up high. The customer environments are gorgeous and the backstage areas are compact and often have dimmed lighting that give them great potential for horror. I agree that the customer areas (which are also where you spend most of the game) are not scary, but I would love to just explore in some kind of sandbox mode because they are beautifully done but I'm forced to ignore it because the animatronics are everywhere. Honestly I think something that would've helped, while not a total fix, would be if they actually turned off the lights at night. I refuse to believe Fazbear Ent. Would be so careless with their money that they'd spend ungodly amounts of it on lights when customers aren't going to be around.

I think the biggest issue with Security Breach is the fact they decided to make it such an "open world." A lot of the issues I had with the game would be resolved if we just had tighter, more consistent gameplay instead of these big areas to roam but nothing really to do. Because of how big the spaces are, they need a lot of enemies roaming around to present a constant danger to the player. Leading to the overuse of the security bots and the animatronics. A smaller, more contained map, and a more liner story with scripted animatronic encounters would would help drastically in making the game a lot better and I hope they keep this in mind for future installments.

I have never seen security camera footage IRL that looked good, so I feel like the bad security cameras in Security Breach are kinda realistic lmao. Aside from that, I 100% agree with everything you said here. The reality of the game wasn't BAD, but it sure as heck did not live up to the expectation they built up for us. I'm sure they have good reasons for why it didn't work out that way, but darn it, I'm tired of video game trailers lying to us. Security Breach is hardly the first game to do this, and it's very annoying.

What is change about the lighting is, like maybe in a certain point the game, vanny (the character that appears like 3 times) cuts off all the power or most of(except for elevators maybe) making the place super dark, needing to rely on your flashlight, like fnaf 4, where you need to rely on sound and your tiny flashlight

I have a possible proposal, if steel wool wanted to I guess PG the game in some way, then perhaps security breach would be set up less like a traditional horror game and more like a dark drama focusing more on characters and character arcs (sorta like the DHMIS show) perhaps as the story goes on, we the player (swell as Gregory and Freddy) learn that the other three main animatronics are possessed by the spirits of previous nightguards (possibly Vanny's first victims) and it is your job to remind them of their humanity, who they once were. And through this, you gain their trust, learning into their backstories, their personalities, etc and intern being able to use their abilities to help you get items and to places throughout the game you wouldn't have as just Gregory and Freddy. As for Afton and Vanny, I'd like to think that in this reimagined version, glitch trap and burn trap were entirely made by Vanny, possibly as means to expand her cult of Afton followers. as you help the three main animatronics, she and her control over the hand units, music men, and endos becomes more prevalent and dangerous leading up to the big reveal/fight between her/burntrap and the player.

Another reason why Security Breach isn’t very good is because you can clearly tell the “endings” were rushed; with those lazy “comic book” style slideshows they call cutscenes. Makes it stand out even MORE, because everywhere else in the game they have legit cutscenes

I think the biggest disappointment for me is that there's no real boss fights except for Monty I guess. I don't count the last confrontation with Afton because its more of a level than a boss, you don't actually FIGHT him. When I hear boss battle, I imagine a direct confrontation with the opponent in which you have to personally go against them with the tools on hand and defeat them. Roxy gets run over in a cutscene, Chica gets crushed, Moon and DJ Music Man just chase you, the Blob is just a hazard, Afton is just playing keep-away, and Monty is the only one you have a somewhat reasonable fight against.

Let's not forget that Vanny had a knife, from the teasers but never actually has one in game. How they did this character is the biggest disappointment, three years of waiting just for her to be sidelined.

I think i remember a theory stating that Fnaf SB was going to be a whole different game entirely than what we got, however, last minute(as last as it could be) they scraped the original and made a new game, This would explain the glitches, the lack of character, story, lore debunkers, delays and overall disapointment.

One thing that I would like to mention, ya know in case you didn't know until now or didn't hear yet, is the detail you mentioned about the game being more of a fetch quest rather than a genuine free roam. When decompiling files, images and every content that went unused such as an unused VIP room that is supposedly still in-game, unused staff bot skins that would randomize the dull and, let's face it, boring staff bot skins, there is also an unused menu feature which would have included a scrapped Survival mode supported by the unused Freddy voicelines that can be found which can be theorised to be triggered whenever starting this mode with Freddy giving Gregory instructions about surviving the night, as this would have been played like a normal Survival mode where time moves freely instead of progressing after certain events happening, e.g. taking the damaged robot head from Roxy Raceway, and actually having to evade the other animatronics by using every skill necessary while having to collect items or collectibles, hehe, while at the same time having to stay until 6 AM when the lobby doors open and Gregory has to escape.

A new protagonist, Jeffery Brown got a new job at the Pizza Plex, with the new animatronics, Glamrock Freddy, Glamrock Bonnie, Glamrock Chica, and Glamrock Foxy. The office has 2 doors on both sides and a vent with a metal door over in in front of the right door, with a desk in the middle that contains an electricity powered air conditioning unit. You are also equipped with a "FazBeam" that does a very short 0.25 second long flash when clicked with a 0.75 seconds cooldown, allowing you to see the left door, the right door, or the vent briefly. Each hour lasts 70.5 seconds, and you must survive from 12 AM to 6 AM. Glamrock Freddy: The all-new Freddy Fazbear, however, he isn't just finished yet. He has a 95% chance to attack from the left door, and a 5% chance to attack from the right door. When attacking from either door, he will hide just out of sight of the doorway, and cause the lights to flicker subtly due to his unfinished and exposed hardware and wiring. If the door isnt closed in a random between 2.05 to 3.05 seconds, he will jumpscare you. Glamrock Bonnie: Attacks from the left door, and has a 10% chance to alert you hes there using a specific voice line. If you dont close the door in 2 seconds, you will be jumpscared. Glamrock Chica: Will attack from the right door, but gives no alert shes there. Gives 3 to 3.25 seconds to close the door before being jumpscare. Glamrock Foxy: Very subtle scraping sounds will come from the vent, and if you fail to shine your flashlight on the vent in 3 seconds (3.5 if you were already in the cams) then he will burst through the vent door and jumpscare you. NIGHT 1 Nobody will be active on this night, due to the animatronics being shut down inside of the storage room. This night will be used for the player to get used to the mechanics. Phone Man: Hello? Are you there? Great! Your here early! Welcome to your new fantastic job at the Pizza Plex as a nightguard! My name is *static buzzing*, your new boss. Hem. Your job is to make nobody enters the Pizza Plex without proper permission. You've been equipped with an electricity powered air conditioning unit, two exit doors, and a vent with... to make sure you don't... hem... nevermind. Anyways, you've also been supplied with a FazBeamer, which is a fancy name for a flash beacon incase you can't see something in the doors, hem, not that there would be anything there, of course. It only works for a split second, so uh, anyways, I'll try to keep it short since you are on your JOB, heh. See you tommorow. NIGHT 2 Only Freddy will be active on this night for reasons Phone Man will explain. Phone Man: Hey! So uh, you came back for another night, lucky you, getting to enjoy the uh... luxury of your office heh. Hey, we moved a uh, animatronic onto the stage. You should be able to see him on the cameras. Hes not done yet, and we won't be able to work on him for a weak or two due to... hem... private reasons. Make sure nobody breaks in and trys to steal him. Not that they could due to... hem... his size. Anyways, I just wanted to update you on the news. I'll see you tommorow, and good night. NIGHT 3 Freddy, Bonnie, and Foxy will be active on this night. Phone Man: *3 second pause* Oh! Uh, hey! We've moved most of the rest of the gang onto stage today... cool, right..? Anyways, be careful, okay? We've caught a... c-certain animatronic crawling through the vents a couple times. We're not sure what he was doing, hem. We think its some sort of bug. If you see him crawling through y-your vent, hem. You should, uh, just let him in, okay? And try not to shine your light on him either, hes pretty sensitive and it might, u-uh, damage his eyes, okay? Good night. NIGHT 4 Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy will all be active tonight. Phone Man: H-hey, uhm, welcome back to your f-f-fourth night, haha! I'm getting so close! Haha. Hem. Anyways, u-um. We moved Chica into the main room today. *Long pause* Hem. O-ok well, thats all I wanted to tell you. *Quick disconnect*. NIGHT 5 No animatronics will be active tonight until halfway through 5 AM, where a certain special unnamed one will appear. ???: Can come through the left door, the right door or the vents. If it comes through the right door, a voice line will activate saying either "I'm here!" or "You'll NEVER expect me!" And you must shine your light on the right door to make it go away. If it comes through the left door, you must quickly use the light, and if hes there you must close it. If you fail to close the door (left door) or shine the light (right door) within 2.25 seconds, if will jumpscare you. When it comes through the vents, theres a 50% chance it will laugh, if he laughs, you must flip the monitor up within 2 seconds until he says "Your no fun." or "Boring!" then its safe to put the monitor down. He will say "Your no fun." or "Boring!" after 1 to 4 seconds. However, if he does not laugh, you must flash him with the FazBeam, at which point he will make a groan sound and back up. He will have a 10% chance to only pretend to back up and come back to the vent entrance immediately after 3 to 9.25 seconds. When he comes to the vent entrance, you can see white glowing pupils.

i think they were forced to cut out a chunk of the game and that's why it got so buggy. I also think Sony forced them to release the game when they did. as well as Steel Wool being a bit too over ambitious on the games size possibly

I like the idea f security badges they make sense but then you changed my mind somewhat, I just feel the missed horror opportunity, imagine how scary it would be to enter a area early and see several animatronics agro onto you forcing the player to likely backtrack to a safer area. also the distraction mechanic could have worked with this, maybe gregory sneaks until a door that opens only slightly enough for him to crawl through but the animaltronics cant crawl t get him, then the game has you activate a program/show/ sequence in the animatronic to make them THINK they have a birthday party scheduled or something, giving you a window to sneak past that same area you couldn't pass beforehand and use of the stealth mechanics.

I just recently decided to replay the game and honestly steel wool has made it look and feel better on the PlayStation Unfortunately, it still lags very often Still, they fixed a lot of issues. It's just extremely upsetting that they didn't fix these issues in beta testing, which I don't think was even done It was so stressful to deal with the bugs and this game is a stressful mess because you have no clue what you're doing, only afraid because you're worried about having to do tasks over and over again It's more infuriating than actually fun Steel wool got our hopes up and disappointed us with a game that was the opposite of what was promised to us

Afton is never a problem for me, I get it, he's the big bad that 'always comes back' the problem is utilisation, I don't think other than help wanted he's been used as an antagonist well whatsoever, he shouldn't be treated as part of an ensemble, he should be scary and feared, not some cheap gimmick to gets wiped by fire. What we should've had in security breach was Vanny as the main antagonist, she isn't possessed or redeemable, she's a psycho Afton fanatic that has been trying to bring him back, don't have Afton do anything in security breach, sure show him in his pod, he isn't ready yet. Build it up, establish them as a threat. In the end however, I think this is more a symptom of flanderisation of franchise, FnaF is only occasionally scary, they need to go the full mile.

The only part of this game I consider good is the area with the endos It knew what it wanted to be, and had mechanics that actually complimented it. It was dark, it was tense, it was cramped, the gimmick of the endos not moving when you look at them made you actually slow down and consider your options because just walking backwards risked you backing into an endo, but rushing in would get you snuck up on quickly. You always felt cornered and vulnerable because you couldn't see what may be coming for you and your only defense was directly confronting them. The rest of the game was so thoroughly not-scary because the immersion was constantly being broken by bugs and bright lighting. And any time you were threatened, it was a pretty safe bet you could 180 and just run away, you never _felt_ like you could in the endo area (even though you totally can). Its amazing they made that section so good, it almost seems like an accident.

A lot of people are talking about how the fans were impatient and it caused some damage to the making of the game. But at the end of the day the game is steel wool's and they control it. No matter how long it took everyone was still going to buy it when it came out. Of course steel wool wants to keep their fans happy but in my opinion I think they should have taken all the time they needed because everyone was going to play it, buy it, talk about it, and watch it even if it took another year. FNAF is a big game series with die hard fans that have been around for years. Even if they were upset and angry and had to wait even longer, they were still going to sit their butts down and flock to the game no matter when it finished. Steel wool had nothing to lose. It sounds really mean but it's the truth.

I feel like they completely underused Monty, because he’s only in a few select moments aside from Monty golf while Roxy and chica are everywhere. He has a great mechanic, that you can’t flash him, but we only see him like 3 times until we demolish him and throw away that whole thing

Even if Afton wasn’t Afton in SB, instead The Mimic, it’s kind of ridiculous to make a new character that dresses like and wants to be Afton, considering Vanny already does that (and is more interesting) I hope in RUIN they either cut him out or explain it. Maybe, Afton got Vanny, then instructed her to retrieve his body and place it on the mimic, who he had already influenced. From there, the RUIN centres around Vanny and The Mimic trying to be the better successor. I just want Vanny to be able to be this new, obsessive fan of Afton that desperately wants to be him. Essentially, take Burntrap/The Mimic out, replace him with more Vanny (maybe put her in areas that Chica would usually chase you)

About the mall not being scary: what they should have done is using the mall as the non-scary "cover" and somewhere along the line of the game going backstage and seeing the old design we know from Scott, progressively getting creepier.

I agree. This is the only FNaF game (besides Pizzaria Sim but that's also debatable) that we were in a location that it actively being used. Because of this, they didn't really know how to approach a lot of these situations in a FNaF-like way. Even if they needed the mall to be open and active, why is EVERY light in the Pizzaplex on? They have had lights on cameras since FNaF 1. They could have approaches a lot of the concept of this game so much better.

Long comment ahead, read at your own risk: There’s a plot but no story. The player has objectives and things to do but no real reason to do them. Literally nothing is stopping Gregory from hiding in Freddy’s room the entire night. He can also just chill in the vents or charging station for a few minutes if needed. It also doesn’t help that he only ever talks to Freddy. He never responds to anyone else. You’d think he’d say something to a different character, but no. It’s ONLY Freddy. It’s as though they couldn’t decide on having a silent protagonist or not. Vanessa/Vanny had no ground to stand on. Vanny was absolutely useless. The player has no reason to be afraid on her, especially those who played without having knowledge of literally anything else in the franchise. Gregory never talks about why he’s going to do what he does. There’s no dialogue about wrecking the GRs, the player just gets the mission to do it. We don’t have a grasp on why he does anything. You can have a silent protagonist with a visible thought process up to a point. _Little Nightmares_ is good at that. The goal is to survive and escape. The game makes that obvious without any dialogue. I first found this game through my friend, so I had no expectations for it. Despite that, I was disappointed. The lack of story ruined it for me, yet I keep watching people play it. I love that it’s fun to rewrite. In fact, I even started one despite not caring much for FNAF. That’s basically one of the best things about SB. Edit: SB is nice to follow along because it has a small cast. That actually did help a bit, and it’s probably the only FNAF related anything I have 1/4 of a heart for.

I think the light could be a great scare tool like having an objective in the pizzeria or something where all the lights turn out a creepy ambient plays and all the animatronics attack you and your flashlight turns on and out like the Funtime foxy section

it’s so interesting how marketing affects a game. i’m a person who knew what fnaf was, but never got into it until after security breach. i never experienced the marketing. i simply binge watched plays of the games in order and then got into the lore. i LOVED security breach. sister location is my favorite, but security breach was a close second. i agree it’s not a horror game. i think it’s purpose is for story and for fnaf lovers, not to be a horror game. i think security breach is huge and had so much anticipation they rushed it and that’s where a lot of these flaws come from. it was quite disappointing how much your choices didn’t matter. i think this game works as a story game, and this absolutely murdered the possibility of it being a good story game. he literally has the option to LEAVE and he DOESNT. I remember that pulling me out of the fantasy and being like oh… this is kinda weird. i still loved it though. i’m excited to see what’s next to come as i believe scott retired

I wish we got more, we could have started with Gregory going in to look for missing kids. Vanny could have showed up more, we could find more clues. We could have learned more about Vanessa. And I HATE you can't save after 6 am, I heard so many people complain about it. Afton barely did anything which was a huge disappointment. They should have worked on it longer, we probably would have gotten so much more.

look, ive been with fnaf 8 years, and i can say strongly that the lore, and games have gotten worse when SW came into the scene. nothing will beat my boy scott, i had "fun" playing it, but it wasn't a fnaf game, and the trailers made it look 10x scarier than it actually was.

I've also been with fnaf for 8 years. And I can say that it most definitely is a FNAF game. You not liking it doesn't make it any less FNAF. And also, most of the lore and the characters for SB WERE Scott's creation. Steelwool just developed it and added some things here and there. The problem is the fans who rushed SW to release the game earlier than it should have. The only reason the lore is the way it is now is not because of SW, it's because of the fans. A ton of things went unused, they didn't have enough time to get the story right, and as a result it is the way it is.

This is a great example kids and fans will eat any shit if you put enough secrets and easter eggs in your game. It's VERY easy to make your own horror game for kids and then make money of it.

10:21 I’m gonna have to disagree. There were plenty of powerlessness moments and dark areas. You got the sewers after obtaining Chica’s voice box, the maze with the Weeping Endo’s, in fact the Weeping Endo’s in general and there’s going underground to the FNAF 6 location. So I’m pretty confident that the game is still very scary. Although I can agree on how underused Vanny was. But all we can do is hope that the Ruin DLC can give us more

normally if you were thinking gameplay the whole area should've been this happy lightning but then as the doors are getting close change its lights into dark and scary.... and I do think the skin was good but the decay should've been more and faster and at the very least add purple lightning there to make will's return make more sense...

I remember this gift from my birthday... More glitch per hour than graphic problems in Sonic Frontiers, unload zones, unevitable jumpscares even worst than UCN, Poorly characterise antagonist, especialy Vanny who ... Exist, Most of all, softlocks everywhere and awful crash when Vanny appear on cam before the first repear session and camping in front of me becauseI don'tknow where to go or how to leave my hiding spot... Making my first run just impossible to finish. Great moment to redo everything, and on the first chasse session ... LOADING ERRORS so I can return back to load more animatronics or I must remember the path in the dark void AFTER the huge patchs... My computer can run Fallout 4 with mods, ARK, Conan Exile or Doom lol

I don't think Willaim being back is really as bad as Palpatine in ROS. The game seeds that Vanny was using the Glamrocks to excavate out the Fnaf6 location, it seeds that Bonnie got destroyed and mysteriously vanished. It's pretty clear what happened imo. Glitchtrap had Vanny dig up his burnt out husk, take the Bonnie endo and rebuild him a body. The thing controlling Burntrap is just Glitchtrap possessing the body. It's like a Liches phylactery. The end goal of Glitchtrap/Vanny I think is pretty safe to assume that 1. Was giving Glitchtrap a body of his own that he had total control over since Vanny was the "reluctant follower" and he didn't have absolute control over her like he wanted. 2. Was to infect the Pizzaplex. To corrupt the arcade machines and to make the Pizzaplex basically one giant center to spread the Glitchtrap virus. People come in, partake in the attractions and get the glitchtrap virus inside them as well until Afton has an entire army of followers under his control. He's literally a techno-lich. Which is still weird that this franchise has gone in a direction that saying "Purple Guy became a cyber lich" makes sense.

Thing is it could've been interesting, but some higher up(weather scot or in steel wool) I think just kept having them change things. Honestly what they had in the trailers were amazing! But sadly at that was cut for some unknown reason. And I think that stress to make up for it probably why it came out buggy. It was rushed because they were made to change things why not being allowed to delay the game again. I'd be stressed too. Remaking a while game why under the same time restraint you're gonna get a buggy unfinished game! Hopefully they learned from this and take their time with Ruin ^^

no because like, i just went back and watched the trailers and vanessa seems less of a rude security guard, but rather someone who can be seen as an alliance. so, i do wonder what happened and i know many people said that there was a glitch or corrupted file in her code but i really wonder what the game couldve been if pushed back EVEN FURTHER. i wouldve loved to see how horrifyingly different it couldve been.

I disagree with you partially about the Scary Part. The Five Nights At Freddy games were never scary in the first place, like all Indie Horror Games; the FNAF games relied too much on Jumpscare. Jumpscare are not scary they make you jumping, but that is all they do; you can get jumpscare ever in not horror games or in Real Life. After a while Jumpscare just become annoying especially they are too frequently. I get more Fear in games like Metroid Prime 2 and Subnautica that Five Nights At Freddy. And FNAF is really boring, all you do is click here and click there and that's all you do while you wait for 6:00 while avoiding Evil Animatronics. It's also silly that we In-Universe decide to continue working there even though we know the killer Animatronics want us dead. The only reason some people keep playing, and FNAF become popular is something to do with its lore but its so weird and hard to understand that I became uninterested. I could understand that Scott did the best he could with a small resource, but you think he would try harder in future games and novels.

As much as I understand how bad the game is and how disappointing it was for people I find it to be one of the games I've enjoyed playing the most, and I don't even mean just Fnaf games. I've always been a fan of finding glitches and stuff and I never got softlocked so that definitely helped it not be as bad. But something about this game just scratched an intense itch that I never knew I had. Exploring a massive, 80's-style mall at night just got me way more excited than I thought I'd be, and I find that every time I turn on Steam and see Security Breach sitting there in my library I get this feeling of just wanting to go back in and explore it while my other games just seem to pale in comparison. Don't get me wrong, the fact that it's so easy and broken is extremely disappointing and seeing all the missed potential just breaks my heart, but it really just hit the spot for me and is the most fun I've had with any Fnaf game. It probably also helps that it's the first one I played when it released so it felt like unexplored territory. I know it's kinda missing the point of the Fnaf games but I also really liked the fact that the animatronics had personalities and characters, it just helped me get invested and made be feel pretty bad when I had to destroy them. Overall, although it's not really a great game and hardly even a Fnaf game I wouldn't change any of it except for fixing what's there and adding in all the things they had wanted to add in the first place like the different mini games. Oh and making the animatronics an actual challenge would be good too...
