Galaxxus Rosarrius Thank you! The jerks that insist 06 is SA3 make zero sense and what you said is definitely right. Why name a game something completely different and potentially confuse fans? Granted, this has happened in gaming and movie sequels but that usually has to already be part of the naming process. Halo is an exception but it's not a great one because Halo 5 wasn't made by the original creators. Considering how badly people want an SA3, why on Mobius would they not name an SA sequel something that will obviously gain people's attention? Naming it anything other than SA3 would mislead fans greatly; they would have to rely on trailers, gameplay reveals, and box art for the game to say "I am SA3!". That seems illogical to me. Where is the profit in that? I don't care how many times people say 06 or Unleashed or even Heroes is SA3 and Adventure fans should stop asking, no matter how much it pisses them off, *these games are NOT SA3.* I, personally, would love SA3 but I'm not going to throw a fit if it never gets made. I would even be satisfied with just a spin-off Chao Garden game. I think if anything, am SA3 would be better suited as the very last Sonic game EVER. I'm sure Sonic will have an eventual and inevitable end but in my opinion, making SA3 the send-off to an otherwise mixed bag of games for Sonic's franchise is possibly the best thing SEGA could do. It would force them to make the best damn 3D game they've ever created, or at least knowing they tried with all their heart. The high expectations would really push SEGA to really take high risks for a huge reward. In retrospect, if it turns out as a flop, it seal the fate of all those who began hating Sonic, but at least then the "torture" would stop. Of course, it would also be a sad departure if it received the highest scores of any 3D Sonic game, because no more games would be created, but I think a potential good or great last game is better than a mediocre or a crappy last game. I don't know if SA3 will actually ever happen, whether soon or not at all, nor do I know how it will be received, but I am hopeful that such a game will bring the 3D side of things to a good place. It sounds like Mania might do that for 2D half, so an SA3 might do that too if Forces doesn't bode well with fans in the end. Apologies for the long comment, it's just this thread got me thinking.

Ok, technically Sonic '06 can be called SA3 from a gameplay standpoint (Multiple characters in each storyline). But the reason 06 failed wasn't because of this formula. It was because the story was messy and gameplay was broken (due to rushed development). And same with Rise of lyric that game wasn't pandered and hated because of the adventure formula, it was because of a lack-luster story and shitty gameplay broken or not. And the main reason they won't make Adventure 3 is because people just wanted Sonic and only Sonic a few years back. So now the Adventure series is just seen as a thing of the past, to Sonic team and Sega at least.

David Castillo I won't, what I meant by gameplay style was how the story mode worked (having multiple storylines that showed different characters' perspective). Shadow's game had similar gameplay but the story mode worked differently, in adventure 1&2 you had multiple storylines leading up to the final story from different perspectives, Shadow's game let you choose what you wanted to be good, bad, and neutral. But in terms of direct gameplay and continuity, sure (excluding guns and vehicles).

Karby64 I think your misunderstanding him. He's not talking to people who would casually appreciate a sequel to the adventure series. He's calling out the people who feel as if the adventure games are the only way to revive the franchise and save it from the fires of hell. He's talking to the people who ignore all of the other Sonic games that should get a sequel as much as adventure and say their all inferior. Hell, there was even fanboys bitching and complaining that Sonic Forces didn't play or look like a Sonic Adventure 3.

As someone who is a Sonic Adventure fan, I don't want Sega to make Sonic Adventure 3. Mostly because I don't think they can pull it off and I'm afraid that they'll fuck it up like they did with Sonic 4. Yes, I know that Sonic 4 was made by Dimps, but there were a few Sonic Team members that helped Dimps create Sonic 4 with Takashi Iizuka being one of the producers. I may love the Sonic Adventure series to death, but even I'm aware that the Adventure games are not flawless. The biggest reason why I loved the games so much is because the way how Sonic was controlled in those games. I loved how you had full control with Sonic's movements whenever he was either running really fast or platforming. There was never a point in those games where I thought Sonic was going to fall off the edge due to his speed or when I make precise jumps. While I did enjoy the boost gameplay in Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations (in fact I was blown away by it when Sonic Unleashed was released), my main gripe with the gameplay is Sonic's control. Sonic moves so fast that I'm worried that I'll fall off the edge whenever I'm jumping on platform to platform. Not only that, Sonic's jumps feel somewhat stiff in those games (kinda like in Castlevania where you have no control on how precise you want your jumps to be). This is why I'm not a huge fan of the boosting mechanic. I'm not saying that the boosting mechanic is a terrible game mechanic, even though I think the boosting ability should've been replaced with the spindash. I did enjoy it when Sonic Unleashed was released, but as time went on, I really wish I could have full control on Sonic's movements without falling off the platforms every now and then. And that's why I believe that the Adventure games captured that perfectly. Yes, Sonic 06 does play like the Sonic Adventure games, but the controls don't feel the same as the Adventure gameplay. I think somecallmejohnny explain it best in his Sonic 06 review on how Sonic's movements are too precise. Also GamerGuyd7Aces, you are correct about Takashi Iizuka's statement. He is full of shit. He's been asked before if Sega will create Sonic Adventure 3 in interviews and panels. He even said this back in 2010 that if many Sonic fans really want Sonic Adventure 3, Sonic Team will consider making Sonic Adventure 3. Well, there is a VERY high demand for Sonic Adventure 3 and it's been almost seven years since that interview, so yeah I don't think Sonic Team will ever create Sonic Adventure 3. As for what you said about Sega distancing themselves from the Adventure formula because of Sonic 06 and Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, I agree with you on that. However, Sonic 06 could've been a good game if Sega took their time with the game instead of rushing the game so that it'll be release on Sonic's 15 Anniversary. Sega should've known better than to release a broken game. As for Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, well that game was bound to be a failure from the start, considering the shit that happened behind the scenes during the development of the game. So, I won't give Big Red Button any flak for that. I am kinda diappointed that we only got 42 seconds of gameplay footage of Sonic Forces, but I'm glad to know that you won't be able to abuse the boosting ability like you could in Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations. Hopefully, we'll get more information about the new character and the new gamplay mechanic very soon. Anyway, keep up with the great work, GamerGuy7Aces. Love your videos, man =).

The whole point of Sonic Unleashed is to test your gaming reflexes. After all, it's a "Action 3D platformers" and games with action have to do with the game testing your reaction time.

That's video game knowledge 101, mate. Games likes Sonic Unleashed are going to test your gaming reflexes by going easy on you on the start and then challenge you as you progress through the game. I have no problem with games testing my reflexes. I mean, I was able to beat Sonic Unleashed just fine, so it's not like my reflexes were the issue. I just want to be able to control Sonic's movements like you could in the Adventure games. In my opinion, the Adventure games perfected on how you should control Sonic. When you start moving Sonic with the analog stick, Sonic will go slow for a few seconds and then pick up speed as you keep holding on to the analog stick to the direction on where you want Sonic to go. This helps so much because I can make precise jumps without worrying that I will fall off the platforms. I believe this is how speed and platforming should be handle in a 3D Sonic game. Now, my main problem with Sonic's control in Sonic Unleashed is that he goes 0 to 100 really fast when you start controlling him. I have no problem controlling him when he's just blazing through stages with no platforms to interrupt my flow, but when I stop to do some basic platforming, it can be very nerve racking because I worry that Sonic might pick up speed if I'm not careful with the analog stick as I'm platforming. My other issue with the platforming sections (and this might come off as a nitpick) is that it interrupts the flow of the game. One moment I'll be going super fast, blazing through obstacles and then next I'll be slowing down to jump some platforms, making sure that I don't fall off the edge. My problem with it is that I just want to keep going fast without losing the flow. When you have this ability to go 300 mph, you don't want to stop lol. You want to keep going until you reach the end of the goal. I don't know that might just be me though. Anyway, like I said, the boosting formula is not a terrible game design. I still enjoy it. It's just that I prefer the Adventure formula much more than the other game mechanics that were presented in the previous Sonic games. I'm still looking forward to Sonic Forces regardless, knowing that the game is going to play like Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations.

This comment is not meant to dis anyones opinion or feed into the statement that "only my opinion is correct". I respect all of your opinions even if they don't match with mine, which is cool. I agree with the fact that there are the nostalgia freaks and what not. I agree with that we probably won't get an outright SA3. Which is fine, but I don't think they should have completely ditched the Adventure gameplay style. I understand their fear after 06s flop, but honestly I think that that game would have been pretty damn good and the gameplay would have been solid. Given proper time to do so and not rushed. I honestly think that game is over hated. I like it a lot, but I do understand why people don't. Some of us "Adventure Fanboys" just want a game where they actually properly revisit this gameplay style and not put there own twist on it like Lost World, or completely change it into a hack and slash like Rise of Lyric. We also want Sonic to kind of go back to the sense of cool that he had with a lot of the more serious elements and tones that this "era" (if you will) had. It looks as if Forces is kind of going back to the serious aspect of Sonic. After 06 they kinda started toning it down, and it was cool with Unleashed, but they eventually started dumbing it down and Sonic hasn't felt very...SONIC for almost a decade now. You know he always had a kind of high octane "extreme" sense of cool, and even hints of maturity and heroism. That's how his character was made. You can see it even in the classic games. Okay I understand Generations wasn't really meant to be taken too seriously in a story perspective, but I hated its interpretation of classic Sonic. They completely disregarded his staple personality and turned him into a shy fuzzy Pixar character. I'm kind of rambling now. About gameplay for Sonic. I prefer the Adventure over Boost. I like the boost, but I feel it would probably work better if treated as a mach speed kind of thing. Usually the boost games for me are kind of a "one and done" type of thing. I don't revisit them very often because the gameplay gets boring quick in my opinion and the stories were kind of dull. Besides Unleashed. The whole Adventure era thing for me is just it didn't reach its full potential. Gaming at that time wasn't exactly at its peak. 06 was inexcusable in the fact that they definitely could have made something good. Sonic then was exciting. He's been kind of drab lately. This ramble is just my opinion and nothing against anyone else's. I do think the Adventure games were some of the best 3d Sonic's ever. Were they perfect? Definitely not, but they have a lot of positives to them. I honestly would like to see the Adventure gameplay with a serious story return, but that's just me.

I praised SA and SA2 for the replay ability it had. chaos. that makes the game so much better than the others because you have a valid reason to keep playing the game well into 100+ hour range. these other games, for a good portion of gamers, only offer one run through of the story mode before they put it down for good. chaos made those two games amazing.

I don't want Sonic Adventure 3.... I want an Adventure-like experience that features multiple playable characters and a story with a good mix of humor and intensity. Sonic Forces seems to ALMOST meet that expectation with the exception of multiple playable characters because multiple versions of the same character is not what I have in mind. There is still hope with the third gameplay style and rumors of a "new character" and it was not specifically said that ALL OF SONIC'S FRIENDS would not be playable, they only mentioned Amy, Knuckles, Team Chaotix and recently confirmed Tails as being NPC's who were present in the demo of the first level showed behind curtains. The third gameplay style could even feature multiple characters such as Shadow who has not been confirmed (and who isn't even Sonic's "friend") as well as the new character and maybe a few others who could be playable.

My problem with Mania and Sega as a whole is that they keep shoving the past in our face too much. We like the classics and it's cool to be retro but they do it all the time. Mania should've just been all new levels not mixed with remixed levels and they already said that there will be more remixed levels than new. I like Mania and I'm not saying it's bad all I'm saying is if they do this then make it completely new levels.

Honestly Shadow the Hedgehog is probably one of the closest things to SA3. It's a spinoff, but it follows directly after the SA2 storyline, refers to a lot of the events (and even bosses) in SA2, and is similar to the Adventure gameplay style. While '06 is similar to SA in premise, it takes place in a different universe, thus it really isn't a sequel. From what I've seen of Heroes gameplay, it doesn't seem like the Adventure style to me, but I haven't played it so I could be wrong. Heroes does seem to have some connection to the Adventure storyline, but I don't think it's as close as Shadow is.

As curious as I am about the 3rd Playstyle in forces, I'm more curious about how classic Sonic's gameplay is gonna be since it'll be slightly different than in generations. But about Sonic Adventure 3, It'd be cool to have one in the future, but the big problem would be all the hype surrounding it, and if something is/isn't in the game, people are gonna get disappointed. If they added wisps, a lot of the hype would really die down and no one would be looking forward to it, like how some of the hype started to die down for sonic forces once people discovered wisps were gonna be in it (There's other reasons but still). And if the story isn't up to par/better than adventure 1&2, people would start hating it (to me people who play sonic games just for the story also pour milk before the cereal)

I honestly hope we finally get a Sonic Adventure 3, and for Iizuka to retire from Sonic Team. We need Yuji Naka back as the head of Sonic Team. Maybe he'll be the one that gives us a Sonic Adventure 3. And if we do get a Sonic Adventure 3 in the future, I'd want it to take place immediately after Sonic Adventure 2, and have 2 post-credit scenes leading up to Sonic Heroes. And the main villain for an SA3 would have to be another hedgehog.

Since it's Shin Nakamura of Unleashed and 06 fame, I get the feeling that the Third Gameplay style is going to be a much more fleshed-out Werehog type game style. with faster, more frantic combos, weapons and the potential to allow other characters to be playable. it might even try to rival Devil May Cry. unless they get platinum on board in which case where in the green.

I don’t understand why people think the classics are so great other than nostalgia. I mean you’re always hitting road blocks and having to slow down, there’s no variety unless you count the special stages, which are always a grind nightmare (especially sonic 2) and once again, how many times have you been punished for going fast? I can’t count how many times I was slammed into an enemy that was just off screen, or I hit a spring sending me back and making me slow down and redo my steps, being careful not to hit the spring. And having to memorize a stage to correct that and actually enjoy the stage isn’t a sign of good gameplay.

how hard could it possibly be to make a game with like 3 different campaigns. 8-10 playable characters with a mission select screen like SA2 and a halfway decent story, and like 30 missions or so? sonic, tails, knuckles amy, shadow, rouge, eggman, silver, blaze,cream, omega, and possibly even emeril. cmon man it would be nice if they nail it right and give every character a good amount of missions and a chao garden.

So right now I am currently working on a Sonic adventure 3 fan game with a friend of mind as are first game. So far, we have almost completed the story and getting ready to recreate Sonic physic's from SA1 and SA2, with the best of both elements and new elements to improve gameplay. I don't expect it to come but if I were to guest SAGE 2019 ? If you have any recommendations please put a comment down. I can't wait until our game comes out to soon. I liked You're Idea of Sonic Adventure 3 but at this point after how mediocre Sonic Forces felt I don't want Sonic Adventure 3 to happen not right now. If Sega releases Sonic Adventure 3 today there is a 70% it would end up like Duke Nukem Forever. in 1998 after the first Trailer for Duke Nukem Forever dropped there where tons of high expectations coming after Duke Nukem 3D. 3D Realms kept pushing the game back unfortunately 3D Relms went out of business and Gear Box took over for Duke Nukem Forever and Duke Nukem Forever got negative reviews. Now if Sega releases Sonic Adventure 3 and the game ends up like Duke Nukem Forever the Sonic Fanbase will go on a rampage. If Sega wants feels comfortable and wants to make Sonic Adventure 3 this is what they should do 1. Remake Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Adventure 2 2. Go back to the Adventure Gameplay under a different name like Sonic Revolution 3. If Sonic Revolution gets good reviews then make Sonic Adventure 3

i personally loved the sonic adventure 2 and the chaos i never put as many hours into a sonic game as i did when thwy had the chaos i a ranked every level for the emblems to get more colored chaos and i would replay levels over and over again collect enough rings to buy more stuff for the chaos or new chao eggs i even replayed levels to collect chao drives and animals to raise my chaos i never replayed any sonic game as much as i did sonic adventure 2 for me what makes me feel like i enjoyed a game is replayabliitly ive beaten sonic 1,2,3 and sonic and knuckles at least once or twice each and feel no reason to replay any of these ones to me i definetly have fun with sonic games but feel like video game consols have come so far being fast is not enough to make a good sonic game and that if games are going to do well in this day and age it needs replayabliitly to do great

The thing about fans not interested in a Sonic game because it doesn't have a Chao Garden? That's just a fan joke. No one actually lets that decide for them if that will make them drop the game, but it is something people really did care for. It added replay value for those who didn't care about getting the fastest time or improving their rank. It encouraged them to explore levels and gave them their own goals outside the main game. I know this is just opinions, but don't write off the Chao Garden just because it's not your thing. The point is that it's extra content in a Sonic game that objectively had more substance than todays "Collect All the Red Rings and get a thing you might not care about".

here's the thing about sonic 06 and boom. they were rushed titles. and because of this their overall polish and gameplay was severely bad and hurt the overall image of those titles alone. but I do have theory about the direction of the sonic games. I would like to think that the games that sega has been releasing since 06 have been experiments to make a game that is perfect in sega's eyes. one example I would like to use are the wisps. they have seemed to be reoccurring in recent sonic game and not just their debut game sonic colors. why have they been returning in back to back titles. because people like their mechanics. if anyone wants to take this theory and run with it, be my guest. I would love to see a well thought out and constructive theory on this.

We already have Adventure 3. That was Heroes! It continued where Adventure 2 left off. Then there was Shadow The Hedgehog to tie up loose ends on Shadow's past and then 06 where Shadow has succeeded in leaving the past behind him by joining G.U.N. and not allowing Mephiles to manipulate him.

For starters, Unleashed being called "Sonic World Adventure" means next to nothing. It's just a name. You seem to think Unleashed is Adventure 3 or a continuation of the Adventure series simply because the Japanese name has the word "Adventure" in it. Using your nonsensical logic, Rush Adventure is a sequel to the Adventure series. Case in point, your logic is extremely stupid. Also, Unleashed doesn't even have connections to the Adventure series in terms of its lore. Heroes, on the other hand, continues where Adventure 2's story left off in terms of what happened to Shadow after the Biolizard fight in Adventure 2. It's further evident when Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Rouge are all shocked that Shadow is still alive, even if whether or not he's just a clone is left ambiguous until his self-entitled game. That shows that Heroes is a direct continuation of the Adventure series and can thus be considered "Adventure 3". Unlike you, I have a mind of my own, so I don't take what a company says as the gospel truth. Playing through Unleashed as many times as I did, its lore is completely detached from the Adventure series to the point of being its own thing. That's completely different from Heroes where the connections between Adventure 2 and Heroes are blatantly evident. You still haven't given legitimate arguments on how Unleashed can be considered a continuation of the Adventure series. Just because Sega says so is not a good argument.
