It depends what you mean by making a distinction though, because the whole point of this video is you say you're Ahlul Hadith based on separation between innovators. Which the same argument can be brought forward (mentioned before), nobody from the people of knowledge has made that argument. The proof is it doesn't make sense, because if someone asked you are you Shia or Khariji, you can't pick neither. You breaking off into your own sect and calling yourself whatever isn't the same as following the Salaf, because the salaf themselves were not upon a sect. Today, we have the saved sect Ahlul Sunnah Wal Jama'ah and been called many names like Ahlul Athar, Ahlul hadith and so on. But that doesn't mean now you say I'm Athari making my own sect, but rather you follow what the salaf were upon. I'm not saying its impermissible to call yourself these names, because they each have a meaning behind them, the same as if a person were to say I'm hanafi, maliki, etc.
