This client happened to have a flood insurance policy because her mortgage required it but unfortunately, when a flood wreaked havoc on her home, she did not have adequate coverage and ended up not being able to file a claim. She had the bare minimum insurance that didn’t cover her belongings.
When we speak to clients about flood insurance we often hear things like ‘I’m not required to have flood insurance’ and ‘I’m not in a flood zone’.
