I’m Mexican but live in Florida , go back to visit family once a year. In my area and surrounding areas many people and families wear gold and I never take mine off just like at home . Especially catholic families with their religious pendants.

Great vid and I do agree as this applies to my home country Honduras because like you said wearing gold brings attention and sometimes not the good kind as people assume you have a lot of money. I wonder if you would wear white gold, would people bat an eye or would it also cause attention.

Plain Jane silver that is because if it is silver iced out with moissanite people always assume at least with me that it is gold and diamonds. I wear a silver iced out chain and a plain Jane 14k Cuban chain.

Im Mexican but live in Texas. Using silver jewelry is better because people confuses it with stainless steel which is more common for your average joe. Using gold can be safe if the piece is small or simplistic because people will confuse it with gold painted steel. And finally its like in every city there is a tourist safe zone and a not so friendly zone, in most mexican cities the not so safe zone is the majority of the city, you just need to know where to use the jewelry and where not to.

I had a bad experience in Cancun on fifth Avenue I bought a silver bracelet that was Jubilee style it was fake it stared to rust in saltwater pool went up to a rock and just start scratching it and copper went to the store exchanged it for a Cuban style link however I still don’t know if it’s real or not I scratched it up but doesn’t show any copper.

I don't know for sure why, but silver in the middle ages was as valuable as gold in Central Asia and still silver is like a sacral metal for Kazakhs and the other Turkic peoples. Even Turco-mongol dinasty called Yuan bore the name the Silver Dinasty although it was much more powerful than the previous Golden Dinasty of Mangu people in China. So Turkics love silver.

Hmm... since I think a lot of people are Muslim/Islam in Turkey, and Turkic people in other countries if that's what ur talkin about, then for Muslim men, it would be considered haram, a big no no to wear any gold, it's only for their women AFAIK, so it makes sense, esp since ancient times as centuries have passed of why they would prefer silver, as their religion plays a big role in their daily lives. Seeing Muslim men only wear silver over all those years since the start of Islam would play a role, too. My 2 cents
