Sorry to say that, but the amp on the UYI records is not the Jubilee but another modded JCM800 called #34 and it was done by Frank Levi. Slash used this particular amp mostly in the studio. The jubilees were used in his live rig. Both sound great but not the same. That attack you hear on the UYI records and on the snakepit records or on all of his collaborations with other artists in the 90s are very typical for that amp. I know it because I have both of them. #34 records great and it sits in the mix really well. But it’s hard to tame it in a live situation and it can be a bit squealy… So it is much easier with the Jubilee live.

@ If you have the chance buying one, I‘d go with the Jubilee. It is much more versatile. #34 is pretty much a one-trick-pony. But your tone in the video is really spot on! And I really dig your playing! ✌️😃🎸

True. Also, Slash used Jubilees during the AFD tour, from 1988 onwards at least (both the actual silver jubilees as well as the "silver jubilees" which had black tolex instead of the grey/silver tolex of the actual jubilees).

As many have already said, the jubilee was only used live and it was a JCM800 2203 in the studio. I also believe that John Frusciante used the jubilee for his dirty tone and used 200w Marshall Major Amos for his clean tone. All said though nice tones out of the amp and great playing 👍

John uses always both Amps at the same time…. The dirt comes from the boss CE1 and distortion from a Bods DS2

Great tones, however I think some of your info is off. UYI was a modded JCM800 called #34 with celestion greenbacks in the cab. Also he used a lot more vintage guitars with PAF pickups, ie Joe Perry's LP and '58 korina V and Explorer. Live in tokyo is a very different sound as it's all alnico ii pro pickups, jubilee heads, and v30s

I only hear the wah trick in Estranged when it comes to UYI, but he definitely uses the wah and Q zone very often AFD solos has more of this trick as far as I can tell

It's believed he used a boss eq pedal with the mids boosted and possibly a slight chorus effect? Chorus uncertain, but the mid boosted eq for sure with his frank Levi modded #34 amp

I think you need a TS to get that high gain sound that sounds like the amp being pushed more than coloured by the pedal, plus an EQ pedal for that cocked-wah mid boost!

Spot on with this post. The Jubilee is very versatile in most settings where the 800 has the punch but just slightest bit of a mud sound to it. Very hard to pick out unless A/B-ing both together.

Thanks mate. Actually the amp settings are pretty much flat, I feel this amp not responding too much on the knob so bass goes 4-5, mid 5-7 and treble 5-6 can’t really hear anything after that. The lower limit is for solos (4;5;5) and (5;7;6) rhythms
