Is Slay the Spire addictive? I have over 2000 hours on PlayStation alone, have all the trophies, done all the challenges. I still return to this game, it's never not been installed.

Luckily I got into it a few months ago. was addicted then took forever to figure out how to kill the heart. Once I finally killed it hit quick uninstall lol. Cant wait for the new one

For anyone who wants more with this game obviously we are getting early access to Slay the Spire 2 in 2025 assuredly earlier then later, but there's also a mod people have made with tons more characters cards and mechanics you can even play as some of the bosses instead in the mod. It's on steam just the same and it's called "Downfall" if I'm not mistaken either way I loved this game haven't played for a while and have decided to go and invest some more time trying to 100% this game and go from there because of how much I liked it originally and still do. Plus 100% the original before 2 comes out would be nice[biggest thing that stopped me is some of the achievements are like beat the game in 40 minutes(maybe more or less time) but I like to try and combo a ton of things and that achievement alone spooked me a lot let alone the stuff like get 999 block where you know it's gonna be a specific run your gonna be able to even do that but it'll be fun to go back in to try doing that now that I have more motivation for it and am aiming for that 100% itself. And then from there go through and see how far the mod has gotten with its content[I heard doom was a part of that and that with how their making the new game it'll be even easier to mod so they very much invite the communities modding of their game which is great cause it's ended with having more content and mechanics to mess with overall.

I just got this game since it’s free with Xbox live core and it is one of the most fun games I have played and I do not regret downloading it whatsoever, I’d heavily recommend playing it to those who haven’t and would be interested in card games

I've tried to get into Slay The Spire on multiple occasions and I always just quit after a couple runs. Not sure what it is about the game but it just always failed to capture my interest. Kind of a shame because I really thought it would click for me

Tip: play with some other hero and try to understand what does each card do. Also, don’t be afraid to do risky things and unusual stuff.

I was the same exact way and I have no idea why. Now it’s in my top 3. I probably played and quit it all together about 5 times before it clicked for me. My biggest tip I can give you is to play until you start getting familiar. A “monke like patterns” kind of thing. Once you start seeing things you’ve already seen, that’s where the fun part comes in. You start forming builds off of what you are given because you already know what synergies are possible. Also watch some KZbinrs! I highly recommend “Baalorlord” and his “How to win on -“ series. I think that’s a good place to start.

This is perfect for the Steam Deck, alongside Hades another game that runs perfect and being able to just play anywhere is even better. Quick run while on the bus/train/plane is sick

I’ve played a few times on GamePass and it never real hooked me. From what I’ve played, it wasn’t as complex as Magic: the Gathering which I’ve been playing and enjoying for like 10 years at this point. Maybe I’m spoiled for choices, idk. Finally bought it during the Steam sale so here’s to hoping I like it!

Loved the game. Been playing since last year. At first just trying out of curiosity because i like card game. But i think i loved it more than any other card game. It's such a hard game at first(it took me three run just to beat the act 3 boss for the first time) but after that it just straight blast. And the feeling of being able go get some of the disgusting combo is just awesome

The ONLY problem I have with the game is that sometimes enemies simply feel like damage/block checks. It is way more important to build a competent deck rather than playing the fights well, especially against Elites which often deal more damage than bosses (for the tool at your disposal).

It is a great game! I can recommend "SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech" and Monster Train to check out too. SteamWorld is more of a campaign, while Monster Train is a roguelite like StS.

You can have very different games in the same genre. Slay the Spire is good in its elegant game loop. I do wonder why its grabbed the algorithuim compared too that game, though. Care to elaborate on why that is the case?

​@@lunyxappocalypse7071 It could simply be the fact that for a new player the name looks pretty weird, having multiple lanes you place your monsters into etc. Slay the Spire's visual design is simpler: maybe this incentivized more players to try it.

Check out Slice and Dice. Best phone game ever made. Just released to steam within the year. Its honestly a problem for me. Its better than slay the spire in my opinion.

Yh the 3.0 Slice and Dice Update made it overtake Slay the Spire in my opinion. The new gamemodes, and mod integration on all platforms made it a game changer for me.

I just wish they’d remove the blight from endless mode, makes it feel pointless because it’s not truly endless, eventually the blight will stack enough to kill you.

Endless in a game mode doesn't mean that you can't fail the run. It means that it will keep giving you challenges to defeat for as long as you can survive.
