Honestly, they could really bring this show back with today's special effects. Jerry O'Connell has barely aged and would fit right back into the Quinn role seamlessly! The whole alien arc kind of jumped the shark. If it was ONE planet that had aliens, cool. But the whole “war/invasion arc” and Quinn really being from a different Earth just was weird

As a new single episode novelty they were fine but making them part of the main story is where I started to tune out. The concept could have worked but even as a kid I found the execution to be super cringe. This series is ripe for a fan edit that completely edits the Kromaggs out. Hell, even "Evil Quinn" as the standing antagonist would be miles better. Instead of giving away sliding technology he learns more about it and goes insane with power. Just anything.

With the Multiverse being a very popular topic nowadays (especially because of the Marvel movies) I agree this show should make a comeback! My head cannon for a sequel/reboot would be some new scientists discover the Slider technology in Quinn's basement and eventually find the OG Quinn Mallory, who explains that he and his friends eventually made it back and that the cast after season 2 were just variants. Then the new characters could start sliding and either get lost as well or have controlled slides at first under Quinn's supervision. Regardless, I would love a replica company to make one of the original Motorola phone timer. My fan made one from years ago has long stopped working but remains one of my prized possessions.

This show was one of my favorites in the 90s. Back then, I did t have cable, so I only saw up until season 3. I didn't like when they killed off Professor Arturo. I've been watching it again in the Roku Channel (available for free btw). I would love to see it revived/rebooted!

I love every episode of the first two seasons, the rest of the seasons are garbage. I recently tried to rewatch the entire series but I could only get through the first two seasons and gave up in the third season.

The first season had a few “meh” episodes. The whole revolution thing was played out after the pilot and they repeated it with the Prince of Wails. My favorite episode was As Time Goes By with the reverse time world.

I *so* agree, while the third, and especially the fourth season *did* have some excellent Episodes ("Cross Double Cross", "The Reich from California"...), on the whole, it just was not the same without the Professor. And, once Quinn left, that was the end - without Jerry O'Connel's character, it was *not* "Sliders" anymore, which is why I have never even _acknowledged_ *anything* on the 5th season. Love this TV show! It started out great but agree that the later seasons took a much different turn. I stuck with the show until the bitter end. There were a few good episodes in later seasons....but the quality just wasn't there that had been there at the beginning. I hope they do bring it back but stick to the original formula from the first two seasons.

i would not go as far as to claim it had potencial to be one of the best, specificaly because B5 and DS9 were also in the decade but obviously SG-1 and TNG, Outer Limits remake, red dwarf, Space: Above and Beyond ... anyways you get the point. 90s was rich landscape of incredible shows (Hercules in space* was just around the corner FFS! as was firefly) to stand out one would have to do insanly good stuff, and i am sorry as much as i love Sliders first few seasons thats not what these guys did. They did well on decent stories told well - were more reliable than X-files in terms to quality of the story but overall lacked the heights of giants like B5. *coliquial name of Andromeda because we also did call SG-1 McGyver in space, possibly only group of ppl i watched those shows with. Oh and do not list voyager amongst good trek shows, it was the beginning of downfall a painfull reminder that executives know nothing about audience or storytelling or anything realy.

To this day the first two seasons remain some of my favourites as the concept was fantastic it's just after that when the producers were told to go in a different direction and it killed it. The Kromaggs were also seem to have went from a more technologically advanced species to just a version of Nazis that could slide it had the potential to be a great story arc but had people writing and producing it who had no clue what direction they were going from one week to the next.

I would like to see the return of Sliders. I had an experience at the Long Beach Hospital in Long Beach California where my exact duplicate went for an aurtheragram testing his knee a week before I did the same thing the receptionist and the doctor asked were concerned with why I had reinjured my knee and I looked just like the other person who had the same first and last name as me. Looks like a case of alternate reality 🤔 I wish I would have somehow checked into it further, it's always bothered me, did he have the same middle name? The look on the doctors face was slightly disappointed as he asked me how I injured my knee again so soon. He, as was the receptionist, was very surprised when I said that I have never been to this hospital before. Mind blowing 🤯

Good video. Not to be pedantic but Peckinpah was already executive producer on the show when Torme was. Torme wasn't replaced, he just quit because Peckinpah was getting along better with Fox's wishes than he was.

Unfortunately the writers of Season 4 totally messed them up. I know a fair bit about the history of Sliders so any questions feel free to ask here.

@@NaterTot Agreed! Its still one of the only shows for those of us that like to geek out about wormholes and multiple dimensions, haha. Hope Tracy does come up with a good continuation to his original ideas from Seasons 1 and 2. Apparently, Jerry O'Connell and John Rhys-Davies would agree to reprise their roles, but I dont know if they could bring Sabrina Lloyd back somehow, she was awesome. She's been out of the limelight for so many years now that I dont see her making it back (although I highly recommend checking her work out in a short lived show called "Sports Night" from the late 90's as well written by Aaron Sorkin. He left that show to focus all his time on the West Wing). No idea what Cleavant Derricks is doing these days as well, but it'd be cool to see him again, love the Cryin' Man :)

I'd watch the first two, maybe three seasons. The last two seasons are so bad that it becomes a bit of a joke (and not a funny one). Ironically enough, I was going through editing and didn't realize that the first two seasons actually look more recent than the last three. They heavily relied on bad CG, props and sets - it just completely destroys the production value. I think you'll really enjoy it. It's on Peacock TV!

Sliders was my Star-Trek for years. And I read a lot of the backstage turmoil. I never heard the story of Peckinpah wanting to have a relationship with Sabrina Lloyd. Wasn't she married at the time? I mean rumors that circulated of it being over her and Kari not getting along did seem off given how ugly they did her, which usually indicates leaving on bad terms. But never heard rumors about the rejection before. Also Farscape was the highest rated show during Sliders 5th season. Although the difference was so small Sci-Fi was definitely stupid to cancel it for First Wave,which failed.

They should reboot this show with modern graphics and history/science buffs to help make the show interesting, and please for all our sakes LEAVE POLICTICS THE F OUT.

Meh. I only watched the episode Love Gods from season 2. I just wanted to see scantily clad, attractive women. It was alright. Definitely had attractive women, but it could've been better. I wonder how much they could have shown had it been an hbo show.

normally even if most fans say a show drops quality or jumps the shark at some point I can't see it, i'm better at analysing that kind of thing in hindsight wheras i just kind of mindlessly consume the content up until then. that was not the case with sliders, honestly throughout the first 2 seasons I could see so much great potential in the show, even weaker episodes didn't really throw me since they were typically followed by really good ones. then I hit season 3, and i think i lasted a little longer than some might have, but I nevertheless noticed that something was off, when arturo died i could tell it was going to change, but immediately after i was hit by so many bad episodes i have not been able to return to watching it, and based on what I've heard, i was lucky to drop out when i did. I really hope for a reboot someday, there are so many ways they could do it and with the benefit of hindsight make it so much better than what we got before.

I really loved this. The first season where the best it went downhill when Arture was killed off. I still stuck with the show but I really did not like the whole chasing the colonel storyline. There where some ok episodes in the latter season but it just wasnt the same

I had no issues with season 1, 2, 3 and 4 but i did had issues only with season 5 i wasn't a fan of the 5th season i love and think 4 seasons were great to me but i think season 5 wasn't that good as season 1, 2, 3 and 4 because i was disappointed that jerry and charlie was not in season 5 they decided to left but overall this is my favorite show i'm a fan of season 3 and season 4 wasn't bad to me i enjoy season 3 and season 4 as well just like i love and enjoy season 1 and season 2 these are my favorite seasons with season 1, 2, 3 and 4 but season 5 which is not my favorite i didn't mind season 3 and season 4 ripping off most movies it doesn't bother me but if jerry and charlie didn't left the show i would of love season 5 too speaking of parallel universes maybe another parallel universe timeline that sliders that herry and charlie never left the show even sabrina lloyd did not left to show either they were in season 5 and the show never got cancelled that seasono 6 actually happen too being the final season with a great ending too i also think that when we dreams we are always visiting other parallel universes timelines without realizing it that's just my point of view perspective on that i also just heard most people share there stories glitch in the martix that where in a parallel universe because everyone experience is difference there are some people that visit parallel universes and some haven't visit no parallel universes and some got stick in that parallel universe that explains why most people end up missing that was originally from this universe dimensional timeline and there are some that are from another parallel universe end up in this universe dimenison without realizing it too i do believe that i don't think they are crazy most of us that experience other dimenisons worlds but it's fine if some don't believe in other dimensions think it's not real and some that do other dimensions are real i respect everyone's difference perspective point of view and i do hope we do get a sliders reboot revival seuqel series of sliders since i'm a fan of sliders

It was a great show, definitely better when it was on FOX. I actually didn't catch it until Scifi started airing reruns and the new, 4th Season was put on "SciFridays." I did enjoy that 1st Season on Scifi, but not as much as the loss of John Rhys-Davies and Sabrina Lloyd was felt. Although I did like Charlie O'Connell's role in Season 4. I suppose considering FOX canceled Firefly in less than 1 season, the fact Sliders got 3, even with the network people screwing around with it, is something. Granted, that was the 90's and not the 2000's, and I think FOX was a little newer of a network at that point, so they were a little less aggressive to pull the trigger on some shows. If it were to come back or rebooted, I would certainly be curious. Sabrina Lloyd went on to SportsNight and if I recall, she left that show. She kind of has a history of not being on board with some shows.

i love this sliders but i started to go off it because of new cast coming on the show i remember seeing sliders the 3rd series and saw a little photo of them in the magazine but 2 of them were replaced by 2 new members and i thought this is not going to be any better in fact it got worse and im glad they never made another series but i always wish they went back to the first 4 ...and they never went back home witch was sad...they should has made one last episode for 2 hours look for original 4 even quins brother and bring them all home.

Sliders writers post Torme hated the characters. They gave all the characters a horrible ending. Especially the original characters. The Professor has his brain fluid sucked out and was left sort of a zombie, only to later get shot anyway. Not the best death but .... Quinn, the main character, got merged Tuvix style with himself that doesn't look like himself. His brother, although not an original character, got unstuck and that seems horrible. Remmy was obliterated at the shows end. Maggie was left alone after seeing two husbands die and her best friend obliterated. But the worse is Wade, such a warm and beautiful character...what happened to her was cruel....even for writers. Getting raped and forced to breed fir the Mags. Then after that has to live as a head for the rest of her life. So terrible. Couldn't you just give your heros a break?

Preface: It's been a while since I've earnestly watched season 3, because quite frankly it's mostly shlock, so there may be some issues with my continuity ideas here. Otherwise, these suggestions pick up after season 3 and ignore the later seasons entirely. Also, the Kromaggs will only be a footnote, for the most part. What a silly storyline. Anyway, I would go for a mix of serial story-telling and episodic forms. Revival ideas: First season - the original "good guy" Arturo got left behind. He's spent decades trying to solve the problems of navigating parallel worlds and has finally managed to track down original Quinn. Arturo wants Quinn to join up to help find the other two and figure out how to get home (and recognize it, for that matter). Quinn is hesitant and reveals that he has a family on this world. Rembrandt is also on this world, but since his double here is already famous, he's been relegated to being a cover act. He's not really happy with his life, but reluctant to leave it as he doesn't have any faith they can make it home. Too many years have passed with him in a rut, so he initially turns down the idea. Having been rejected by both his friends, Arturo drinks heavily at the bar while Remy goes through the motions of Tears in my Fro. After his last song, Rembrandt joins the professor to drink and talk about their past adventures, friends, and what became of their lives. Many drinks up the river, after re-bonding, Remy cries and resolves to help find Wade and get back home. The two get riled up and decide to drunkenly catch a cab over to Quinn's house, despite the late hour. Upon arriving, they discover Quinn sitting quietly alone on his front porch, slowly fidgeting with something in his hands. As Remy and Arturo approach, it is revealed that Quinn is holding the timer. The second half of the season would see the trio figure out how to set and return to specific worlds with improved control, which they use to find Wade's location. They use this opportunity to scout the situation and make a plan, with the last few episodes culminating in unforeseen challenges, bad luck, and quick thinking to end the season rescuing Wade. (retcon the breeding camp idea into more of a Tasha Yar Romulan marriage situation, for dignity's sake) The last episode wraps with the original team cementing their plan to seach for "home". Quinn wants to help, but plans to return to his family afterward. (or if the search seems to be ultimately impossible) Wade and Remy want to be back with their families again, and the professor wants to return to the university to share his experience and write a book or two. Second season - This would be comprised mainly of original series S1 and S2 style episodes. (the cool concept of differing histories) Each world they visit helps to create a model that will point them toward home, although Quinn admits that this could be fruitless if the number of parallel worlds is infinite, or unrealistically high. Quinn's teenage children take the portal, causing the team to have to go after them. Wade pitches the idea of setting up a company to advance human and civil rights on less-forgiving worlds. (to intervene or not to intervene?) This idea would culminate in the season finale where the group is faced with practicality versus idealism in some situation that can be better written by someone smarter than I.
