This is the type of guitar that Eric Bran used in Iron Butterfly to get that gritty psychedelic sound. Check it out. It's such a unique hippie sound 🌷 I learned he used a Mosrite plugged into a Vox Super Beatle amp and used the distortion built into the amp.

Nice video and demo, wonderful guitar. But Sebastian, the company is pronounced "Moe's Right." It's an easily made mistake, though, no worries - the company's really an uncommonly thought of one, after all. The name is a combination of the names "Moseley" and "Boatright." Semie Moseley (1935 - 1992) was the founder of the company, just by himself, and when he was either a teenager or around college age. He often went to Church, and one Reverend Boatright realized that Semie was talented at lutherie, so he helped fund Semie's work early on in Mosrite's career. Semie later would sometimes donate guitars to churches.

These are awesome guitars. Almost no one plays these guitars now at all. You never see anyone playing them at bars, clubs, or you never see any big well known bands playing them for some reason. Can you post up more videos playing all different types of tones, solos, and songs, etc? You got any videos of you playing this guitar at gigs, or any videos of well known bands playing Mosrite guitars? If so can you post it up, thanks.

(I didn't record this.) Except for Mosrite's short heyday from 1963 - 1969 and then how Japan took to them based on the Ventures association, Mosrite (and they're pronounced "Moe's Right") are pretty much unknown, even though Johnny Ramone mostly played one specific and rare model for the whole Ramones career. There are one or two stores that stock Mosrite in all of North America, that's it - no new stock anywhere. Only Ed Roman's in Las Vegas (if they still carry them) and Front Porch Music in Bakersfield carry them at all.

Everyone wants to play surf or punk on these guitars.. They are capable of a lot more. These pickups are actually way hotter than P-90 pickups. They are like 13k -14k. Hotter than Les Paul which is like 8k- 9k.

Yeah i hate when someone has some rare guitar to demonstrate and only plays the music that is associated with this guitar. I mean you can play anything it's an electric guitar first of all and not the time machine to play some boring ass surf rock.

semie mosely designed his guitars primarily for country and gospel music, since that's the music he liked and played. semie was a pretty good guitar player.

They are sort of in-between Fender and Gibson, yes. They sound a bit "dry" to me, compared to Stratocasters and Jaguars.

‘Moze-wright’ not mossrite 😅also, the ventures pickups are way hotter than a Gibson p90. The mosrites can hit 12k output from just a single coil. Nice video dude

Mosrite pickups are much hotter than P90’s, particularly the ‘59 Joe Maphis single coils which typically measure over 15K. The 60’s Mark I’s like in the video are around 12K-14K and continued in that range when they were made as air coils in the 70’s. The student model pickups with rail magnets and no pole pieces are not has hot but are tonally completely different and are still hotter than P90’s.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGOUmXdpZ66Haassi=iHM-QsIf6fOHIbfk According to Aaron, Nevermind was recorded with a Mosrite "Gospel"....Indeed, it's disturbingly realistic
@henderstein54613 ай бұрын
nevermind was primarily recorded on a mark IV gospel prior to it being stolen around halfway through the sessions. The sounds you hear on lithium, in bloom, come as you are, drain you and the sounds of out-takes like sappy and old age were all through the gospel. Most of the overdubs were most likely done with strats after the gospel had been stolen.
