the biggest issue is that the wave of "Young students" that came in recent years have shown zero respect for Canadian culture, and no desire to integrate in it. Its a very basic example - I live in Brampton and take GO train everyday for my commute. just last week , as i was entering the station there were bunch of Punjabi guys behind me , I opened the door and hold it for them. Almost 5-7 guys passed through the door without even saying "thank you"!! Then they got in the same coach where i was sitting. People who take Go train might be knowing this already, In Go Trains the upper floor is a "Quite zone" and people don't talk loud there. But these boys kept disturbing everyone with the their loud noises. (Since i understand their language , i can tell you there were lot of "gaalis" they were using in their conversations), Finally a person got up and told them that its a quite zone, They stopped talking for few minutes and the again started after next station. The point i am trying to make is, Saying Thank you, sorry, being polite, respecting other people's space, are core Canadian values. We also learnt and respect those when we came here and made this country our home. And it hurts to see that most new "immigrants" have no intention to respect these core values without realizing that it reflects on entire community. and infact Kids of Indian ethnicities who are born here also feeling the heat of this frustration from other people.

Amit said exactly the correct point. I have been here since 2018 and this is definitely not the Canada I came to. It has changed with the recent population that has come in the past 2-3 yrs.. They are creating chaos and grabbing attention everywhere. They don’t realize there are people who have come from other countries as well but they aren’t dancing around the streets and creating negative attention by not following the laws of this country. It’s very important to respect and embrace the culture of the country which you reside in. No matter what this country has given us a lot and we should be thankful for it and show others that we are also bringing good values and creating a strong economy for this country instead of breaking laws, taking advantage of the system that is build on trust. I am glad you addressed it. It’s not easy to talk on such topics. I don’t comment much but I see all your videos. Good going 🙂

I think the issue was commitment and I have faced this. I sold my monitor to a Canadian. He came from Hamilton to Toronto and he ensured three times with me that I will be at home or not at that time. I asked him why so much calling and confirming and he told he had to take early leave from work so risking some pay. Sometimes even for low cost item, people schedule their day for pick up and travel .. so I think it should be compensated as a courtesy if our mistake … even after that if there are hate comments then nothing can be done zz

Hello Shilpa and Amit, I’m a long time viewer and absolutely love watching you guys, especially cutie Amy. I’m a Canadian born and raised Indian, and sometimes I too feel like many recent migrants are devaluing Canadian culture. Canadians are known for being polite and kind. As Amit mentioned, people should adapt to the country they are residing in, of course not saying that we should forget our culture and traditions, and festivals. But in a public place be respectful in mannerisms, most importantly when driving. Sorry in advance if I hurt anyone’s sentiments. Have a great week ahead! ❤

Don't be upset Shilpa but I absolutely agree with Amit. While their actions are wrong we need to worry about ours first. Acceptance and adaptation are two key mantras to a happy life no matter where you are in this world. I have definitely noticed a rise in racism especially towards Indians and Pakistanis. I hear it all the time. People assume since I'm white that I agree with their sick views and they say stuff like "they are overtaking the country", "they have no culture", etc. It's disgusting to say the least. I came to Canada in the 90s and have felt similar attitudes. Now those racist people view me as a lesser evil since I'm of a "proper" skin colour so they will tolerate me. The worst thing is when I hear immigrants complaining about other immigrants not realizing they are in the same boat. I think Canada is definitely different from 50 years ago and that's a good thing. Racist dogs can bark all they want but they don't bite yet. We need to stick together. I love everything about different cultures that I get to meet here and that is a great thing. I know what these divisions lead to and that's concerning to me. I've lived through the war in former Yugoslavia and have seen first hand what hate does to people. I want you to know that not everyone is an idiot in this country and I hope we eliminate hate together. The only way to do that I feel is to keep connecting and not always staying within our own cultural circles. As and example, I play in a band and have met and awesome Indian band here in Toronto. We have played twice together and it's amazing to connect beyond the traditional circles. The Indian band is called Onek. You should check them out.

Hi Shilpa, sorry to hear about your unfortunate incident and the bad experience. I don’t think it’s you as a person rather the situation in Canada is causing the ripple effects of racism to all (like the saying goes - one fish ruins the pond for all fish). In this situation the person could have just stated his point without the reference of “Indians”. Things happen and situation changes, and it’s ok to renegotiate rather than calling names. Cheer up because there are many more nicer people in Canada and world than these few uninformed folks. I 100% agree with Amit regarding the immigrants from the past and present. Not saying for any one person but even in USA, I notice significant difference between people who immigrated decades ago versus recent immigrants. And it is changing the dynamics. But that is beside the point - no one should experience this type of behavior. Humanity should be above anything. I hope you are able to get over this quickly as you are a beautiful family with great character and sanskar. ❤

@@batmanrecharged @kristheone1 Interesting conversation to watch. Just so you guys know, the standard is 24 hours. Entrepreneurs like fitness instructors, yoga teachers, math tutors, etc. you have to give 24 hours notice to get a refund or the money is 100% forfeited. Independent entrepreneurs (like myself) just follow the industry standard on appointment cancellations..what a company wouldn't let you get away with an individual wouldn't either, and as a consumer you should actually be more considerate of their time rather than trying to exploit them simply because they don't have an oppressive market share and the ability to dictate terms...or all we'll have are companies for our services and their lack of transparency and inflexible policies. As a sole proprietorship, the only people who call me up past midnight and try to cancel things, or forget to cancel entirely and just ghost me, are Indian people by the way.
